MrJBravo's Achievements

  1. After looking through several of theses results, I find that my 970 is really up there... Ive seen scores of OC'd 970's scoring at about 7.4-7.5, mine isn't an SC, SSC, or FTW its just a reference 970 with the ACX 2.0 cooler, why is mine scoring so high? I may try to run some other bechmarks to test this
  2. In all honesty, it was because I was building a PC that would be an exact opposite of my brother's build, he is running with an AMD CPU and GPU so I went opposite with Intel and Nvidia sorry it took this long to reply bee really busy the last 6 months
  3. Final Update (probably) Put my PC together initially with the stock cooler and a GTX 960 (was for my little brother, but I wouldn't have the rest of his components until a few months later) This fan really bothered me so I had to fix it Fast Forward a couple of months to my new GTX 970! FF a couple of weeks Final Specs (For Now) CPU: Core i7 4790k OC's to 4.5 GPU: EVGA Nvidia GTX 970 ACX 2.0 MOBO: ASUS Z97-AR RAM: 16GB Kingston HyperX Fury Black 1600 Cooling: Corsair H100iGTX; 2 120mm Corsair SP120 3 140mm Corsair AF 140 PSU: EVGA 750 G1 80+Gold 750W Storage: Sandisk 120 SSD, 2 1TB WD Green HDD; 1 180GB laptop HD: Toshiba 500GB repurposed HD Case: Corsair 760t Arctic White

  5. Check out the Z97-AR from ASUS bought mine back in March for $150USD finally got my system built 2 weeks ago. So far its been really stable, on a stock cooler I was able to overclock my 4790k to 4.4GHz across all 4 cores @1.125V on a stock intel cooler (saving for an H100i GTX) seems to be running stable so far. Was able to validate it on CPU-Z http://valid.x86.fr/q23kbb and scored an 877 on Cinebench r15
  6. ***UPDATE**** I have purchased 16GB HyperX Fury Black RAM a Sandisk 120GB SSD and the EVGA 750 G1 80plus Gold psu. Just waiting on my case and I can start putting this build together. Planning to run the stock cooler for about a month or so, hopefully by then I can get my cpu cooler, planning on the Corsair H100i GT, and will be running either a GTX 550Ti or an Radeon HD7770 (brother's spare parts) until I can purchase either a GTX 970 or, depending on my funds, a GTX 980Ti. Will be posting pictures soon
  7. I orginally posted this in the New Builds and Planning forums and decided to move it here as this is first build and want to log everything every step of the way. [Original post] I got some good feedfeed back on the subject and have changed my build plans a bit PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor (Purchased For $340.00) CPU Cooler: Corsair H105 73.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($106.98 @ Directron) Motherboard: Asus Z97-AR ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (Purchased For $150.00) Memory: PNY XLR8 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($98.00 @ Amazon) Storage: PNY XLR8 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($58.99 @ Amazon) Storage: Western Digital Green 4TB 3.5" 5900RPM Internal Hard Drive ($133.99 @ Amazon) Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 970 4GB Superclocked ACX 2.0 Video Card ($329.99 @ Amazon) Case: Corsair 760T White ATX Full Tower Case ($159.99 @ Micro Center) Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($78.99 @ SuperBiiz) Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit) ($86.89 @ OutletPC) Total: $1543.82 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-04-11 23:53 EDT-0400 I have already purchased my CPU and Motherboard...
  8. So I have shown my friend this thread, and he said he is really liking this build. he may ditch the SSD to upgrade the motherboard, but overall he said he is liking the sound of this build alot. Thanks to all who posted a build, I love how quickly I got these responses. Thanks again everyone!
  9. He would like an Intel CPU, but is not against AMD
  10. Lol hes had a lot of laptops, and his current one running an AMD graphics was his best one by far. So he just trusts AMD more. but if you can build with an NVidia card I will throw it his way, price is more important
  11. My friend asked me to build him a gaming PC for around $500 but no more than $600 (not including windows, pricing pc itself, already has a monitor, keyboard and mouse,). He wants to be able to record his games while he plays, and wants to remain at 60 fps at 1080p. As for games he doesn't play too many intensive games, he plays League of Legends, Heros of the Storm, Skyrim and Dragon Age. He would like to play more AAA titles but his laptop cannot run them at his playable framerate (60 fps) He is looking to start up a gamming youtube channel, but on his laptop using any screen recording software drops his fps to 30 and below. His only requirement is that he wants an AMD GPU, I have scrolled through pcpartpicker and came up with a couple of builds using AMD processors, however, I am not confident in them as I no little to nothing at all about AMD CPUs. Please help!
  12. ***Update*** I have received my motherboard and CPU, planning on getting the PSU, RAM, and SSD next.
