Idolizing entertainment and Tech Informers to the point where you have to leave a good service over a mistake is indicative of a real societal issue. I can handle them not being perfect, because I never thought they were.

Thanks for the concern everyone. We are still in recovery mode over here and working with YouTube to get everything restored. Will hopefully have a video (or at least an update on WAN Show) to share with you all ASAP, but we want to make sure we get the details right since smaller channels may rely on our experience to help harden their own security.

You should. but dont count on him being on IFTTT forever. The company has to pay for that service. while its free to you, it costs 5-20k USD a year depending on the contract.

(screen shoots pieced together from proof and i omitted my real name)

And they cutoff pre orders on the 18th. amazon is still taking them. its safe to say any amazon pre order made after the 12th is going to have a LOOOOONG wait..

It's a societal fail in general. Further perpetuated by a increasingly terrible public education system.

Let's call a spade a spade, and not tip toe around the issue.Thats why its so easy for some random idiot on the internet to gaslight these kind of things. In addition, people with inferiority complexes love to jump on things like this. As they are jealous of others success and want something to lessen the significance of their accomplishments or damage said person's success. This makes them feel better about their own situation. "Yeah, he's got my dream job. But, he has no integrity because he did it X way, so it makes me better!"

I am very grateful and enjoy the content that (most) of the larger tech youtubers do. I appreciate their hard work, But: I would never do it myself. Anyone who willing subjects themselves to it and all if its pitfalls on a regular basis has a Iron will and must truly love what they do. This situation further illustrates that.

Also: for the people bitching about linus and the dyson video. at least he rolled a studio tour into it etc. Really the dyson wasn't  the focus (Shit, better clean something real quick since they are paying for this!). As for gamers nexus, his whole "holier than thou" attitude is why i don't even bother with his channel anymore.I do acknowledge he has great ideas for content and is a knowledgeable person. But he can be very off putting at times.

I am actually fine with the Dyson vacuum sponsorship, even from other youtubers doing it.
Maybe I notice it more, as my father started a small business from nothing, but people forget that starting a business is SUPER demanding... as in: little sleep for days on end, it is really hard and so much things to do, and 1 wrong step, could collapse everything. That is why you have the "baby effect", where when a business is not doing well, founders are attach to it like it is their baby, and won't let go, when it should be let go due to, and many times, changing times, and failed or simply cannot adapt. So much time invested loss, but also great care and every penny spent is carefully thought out during the company growth.

YouTube doesn't make much money and sponsorship is needed. Yes Linus today makes a lot of money, but remember he has many employees, requires super expensive equipment, location, materials, and more. And what I like about the sponsorships, is that while, yes it is an ad, it is not your traditional TV ad or a stupid infomercial where you go "fake" at every step of the way, and find a million flaws. It has the personality of the creator, and they do they own thing showcasing the product.

Beside I got a Dyson, and they are actually excellent vacuums. Doing research, i quickly discovered that vacuums that actually do a decent job, cost around the same price or more. I just opened BestBuy flyer last week, and noticed a Miele vacuum for 1000$ Canadian. I could buy 2x Dyson on special (well, not the battery ones, but the normal ones). And that is not some exception.. at 350$ Canadian you still have crap vacuum that does, at best, and OK job once all its filters are cleaned/replaced, but not comfortable to use, and reduce in suction rapidly.  Of course, the best is central system, but that is a different market. Anyway, my point is that Dyson does decent stuff that is all. It's not some crap product that is being pushed into our face wasting everyone's time... granted most people are younger audience and don't care about vacuums, but isn't that Dyson wasting its money?

I find it kind of funny and disappointing how in all this drama people go with pitchforks and torches to the guy who named channels without better knowledge while the one who actually made the first claim and apparently has proof is just majorly being forgotten. GN isn't going only against this Sai guy from Fiji, but against Videocardz who made the first claim and has some invoices:

Videocardz doesn't want to name anyone because "it leads to finger pointing", but is actually making the most damage because is not naming anyone and so everyone got into the line of fire.

Sais Twitter is now unprotected, go and have a look. Guy is very salty nobody. Still I would really much like to see something more than laughing at his beard from Videocardz, who is probably still going that he has nothign to do with this Sai, but he knows and won't name anyone and plays victim because he didn't name anyone.

And as for the case, I don't really care if someone was to take money to prioritise some exhibitors at Computex. After all there was around 1488 exhibitors showing off their products (probably not all had their own booths/suites). That is a lot of tech to take a look

So, some guy on the internet makes some claim, without any proof or fact and people take his word for it, and no one questions 1 thing.
    Ok.

Apple is buying Microsoft, Alphabet (Google), Nvidia, AMD, ASUS, ASRock, Gigabyte, MSI, and more. Plans to close them all down, so that Apple is the only computer you can buy, and the only OS you can use is iOS. MacOS will be gone and blocked via firmware to be installed.
Believe me, I am some guy on the Internet. It's from the Internet, it must be true!

On that I would say honestly that they're most likely learning to be better about it. At the time they may have felt like how they handled sponsorships was adequate and then as time went on they changed and improved the way they handle it and adapt to it to make it easier for people to see because they took note of complaints, confusion, outrage, etc.

He accused them of breaking laws (in the US, FTC rules dictate that content creators must disclose sponsored and paid content) and being dishonest with no evidence, and then claimed to have evidence. It's not as simple as someone saying they dislike the named YouTubers, they made false claims that could potentially hurt business. You are right in saying that it is like paying for advertising, but there are laws and guidelines that dictate how advertising is done and this guy is essentially claiming that they didn't do that.

There you go, this is why it's a problem. It's absolutely not nothing.

"After a number of employees were laid off in December, the startup confirmed on Monday additional layoffs, which the company qualified as a “significant” reduction.
“The company has implemented a significant reduction in force and other cost-cutting measures to allow ourselves additional time to secure additional funding or pursue an exit. The company will continue to sell and support Jibo’s during this time period,” a company’s spokesperson wrote in an email.
A former employee of the company, who asked to remain anonymous, said in a phone interview that the decision of laying off more workers was reached in the last week or two. The current headcount, the source continued, is five to ten employees working out of Jibo’s Boston office, as the company’s second office in California shut down “months ago” and it was home to around 15 employees at its peak.
Jibo had around 100 employees before the December layoffs, the source said. As of Monday afternoon, Jibo’s office in Redwood City, Calif., is marked as “permanently closed” on Google Maps."

I think we all saw the writing on the wall with this one. when your device costs $550-900 (sale to retail pricing) and can't match the 40$ Alexa / Echo or Google Home in functionality. You have a major problem. They had been doing bi-weekly, then monthly updates.. However there most recent patch took almost 2 months to do. And while it added 1 functionality the kickstarter eluded to (See patch notes here) It's progress is way to slow and i am sure the investors are chomping at the bit. I think the best case scenario for Jibo owners is for Jibo inc to be purchased. But that's only if it financially makes sense for the assets involved. Its 2 motors and a cool body on dated android tech.Considering they had a total of 76 million invested. I doubt a competitor will absorb all the debt for the given assets.

I would hate for my "LTT edition" Jibo to be a paperweight. But i knew the risks..

Side note: and this is entirely speculation and second hand experience passed on to me by my boss (Ceo of our company) .Take with ALL the grains of salt due to said speculation (aside from the investor relationship which is public knowledge / confirmed)

He suspects they could be purchased by a Chinese investor, specifically one they already have a relationship with.  When he saw them at CES, they had a tiny booth next to one of their Chinese investors who had a huge booth with nothing but a owl robot to read books at night for kids. Which struck him as very odd as how expensive space is there, for it to go unutilized is just a excessive waste of money (Which is why he remembers that specifically.) Anyways he said their sales pitch hasn't changed and they "intend to meet their goals" but didn't give a firm ETA. And that they are still leaning heavily on the "MIT Tax" meaning their CEO's experience and credentials. Overall he got a "used car salesman" feel from them. Which makes sense. When you fleece people out of 76 million dollars and find ways to keep delaying and getting money: You Must a have at least one silver tongue on your payroll.

In regards to this potential outcome:  A always on robot with 2 cameras that's always listening and tracking the source of said sounds, owned, operated and potentially hosted by a Chinese company probably wont go over well in the current political and trade landscape. IMO its (barely) plausible

Or they don't release anything, it turns out to be hard to figure out the code and people only are able to code for it 20 years later. Making it the Sega Saturn of startup robots!

I honestly have not followed anything about the Jibo after the LTT video, because it sounded nothing like I would be interested in at all (digital assistants are not really something that interest me). If the fan base is so dedicated I could see them making their own versions of the software on that device.
