  1. Thanks for the suggestions everyone. How's the overall performance for applications? I don't mind none-gaming laptops, too. If it has better performance in other areas.
  2. Hello everyone, I've been going around here and other websites looking at suggestions for laptops. After a few days of research and looking around I have come to the conclusions that I have no idea what to look for in a laptop. So now I'm here to join the hundreds of others asking the same question around this time of year. I'm looking for a laptop that can ... My budget is $1,000, but I'd prefer something around $800 (USD). I'll be mostly using it for work, gaming, and general college use (Web Development, app making, generally programming). Factors that play into my the laptop I would like to purchase: Multiple chrome tabs and extensions with netbeans (HTML & PHP) for work, Smooth and reliable, Can survive a bus ride, placed in a backup, etc. Preferably I would like to have a GTX 960m (4GB), a 1TB HDD or 256GB SSD, Quad Core i5 or i7. Things that I don't care much about Screen size, Battery life (Will always be fairly close to power sources at all times), Screen resolution, Comfortably, Weight. Right now I've been looking at Lenovo Y700 & the Dell i7559. Both seem to have their pros and cons, but I'm mostly worried about the long run for both laptops. However I'm completely open to all suggestions (Macs, two in ones, touch, business class, gaming class) within the budget price range. Gaming or business class, just throw them at me or even just suggestions of what to look for in a laptop. Thanks for any suggestions on what I should look for or laptops.
  3. GTX 960, just wanna keep gaming forever and ever. (amd ever amd ever.)
  4. Hey everyone, I've been researching around for some new parts. And I've come to the conclusion that I have no idea what to look for in a case. Currently I have: Motherboard: ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3 GPU: Zotac GTX 960 (2gb) CPU: FX-6300 Ram: G.Skill Ripjaw X Series 2x4GB 1333MHZ F3-10666CL7D-8GBXH PSU: EVGA 500b Case: Generic Compaq So the problem I'm having is, my case doesn't have 120mm or enough space for a Hyper 212 evo. Is there a recommended case for the Hyper 212 Evo? Will it even fit on this motherboard? Is there a better cooler to get? Will this case fit a 212 evo or better cooler? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139057 Also, is it better to just upgrade to a 2x8GB kit of ram? Or can I just get another pair of the same ram, and go for 4x8GB? Budget is being tossed around at this very moment, so any recommendations welcome. Thanks for any help.
  5. Hey, I do believe it does have SP1. I installed it on another computer a few weeks earlier and it ran into a similiar problem. It got stuck at update x of 170 and was stuck there for hours. All we had to do for that one was restart it and redownload a few updates a couple times until it worked. This one just goes straight to reverting. Thanks, Patrick
  6. Hey everyone, I'm trying to update a new install of windows 7, however it gets partially through the update process on restart. Then it hits a problem and tries to revert changes. We have left it for several hours, but nothing happens. We have reinstalled the OS three times and tried updating all at once, tried doing it half way, and tried doing just a small amount at a time. We reinstalled windows because the current install was getting slow. No hardware has changed. If anymore information is needed, please let me know. Thanks for the help. Patrick
  7. Hey, Recently our internet has been acting really weird. When restarting the router and/or modem it seems to fix itself, so I should be able to rule out ISP. The problem: Internet works fine, full 1MB/s connection. Sudden slow down to about 17KB/s, almost every site will get to transferring data from their server and just stop there. Most sites will timeout before anything is displayed. So far I've tried restarting router or modem (One at a time) and testing the speed, it'll generally work for a short amount of time. Normally restarting both modem and router together, for over 2 minutes, will allow about 2 hours before it happens again. I've also removed all devices, except one for testing, and rebooted. This seemed to work until one specific computer was plugged in. This is where the problem is stumping me. We have a Netgear WGR614v10 and the device uses a Belkin N3000 F9L1002v1 USB Wi-fi card. I installed netgear WNA1100 and it seemed to work fine, but since that is from a different in-use PC I had to put it back. I put the Belkin back in and it worked for about 4 hours before it started again. That is what I think the problem is, however I need to do further testing on the matter. Until then, what things should I be troubleshooting? Anything I should be specifically looking for or to check? The gear we use: Netgear WGR614v10 Belkin N3000 F9L1002v1 Netgear WNA 1100 Two lined PC's Basic Talk phone 3 Consoles 6 Tablets 2 Laptops Motorola Modem, will grab ID as soon as I can. Not all are on at the same time. (Sorry about the jumbled up topic) Thanks for any advice, Patrick
  8. End of the sale, 48 hours of encore and then it should be done.
  9. Euro truck Simulator 2 Brothers in Arms: Road To Hill 30 Watching the CS:GO Skins drop in price as everyone tries to get rid of their skins before Monday. Hoping for some new stattrack stuff.
  10. People who build $1,000+ Gaming machines and don't play minecraft on them. Huge waste of cash in my opinion. If they were just going to play GRID, ARMA, or the latest games with brand new engines, they only need a $400 machine.
  11. From what I understand, you should be able to pick up most, if not all, the details from: 2 3 Black Flag Unity As for the best ones according to most people: 2 Black Flag Rogue My favourites: 3 Rogue Unity
  12. Hey, I'm running out of things to watch on hulu and youtube. I've got about 4-6 days of using this gosh darn 2006 iMac until my processor comes back from warranty. Any suggestions on good shows to watch, either web series or full series on youtube/hulu? Preferably no sexual content and moderate language (I.E. No F word or equivalent). Comedy, action, drama, I don't even care at this point as long as it's entertaining. Thanks for any suggestions.
  13. I would have to assume so, the processor, GPU, Motherboard, and Ram seem to have no affect on it. Like someone said earlier, you might be running some background items like Antivirus that'll clog up the HDD. I'd have to assume an SSD would fix this for the most part.
  14. Yes, I get this all the time. Very annoying, but I haven't died because of yet. Do you run off SSD or a normal HDD?
  15. Could it be described like so: Running fine, sudden stop while shooting, goes to maybe under 20 FPS for about one to two seconds and then instantly goes back to 120FPS? More like a pause in game then a lag?
