Well, I know Thomas Marrone from the STO dev team contributed, so the chances are some of it is from games. And I know that the Archive has a pretty close relationship with him and STO's assets.
At the same time, they have access to assets from the shows as well, at least to some extent.
For my part, I was working from studio reference and game assets, then modelling my own assets from them. So I think its safe to say it'll have been a mix.

And yeah! It'd be a really good step forward to bring characters into it, but given the way they're doing things here(its not rendering locally, its essentially a NeRF or 3d scan of sorts rendering on their servers then sending video to the device - probably require a biiig rework.

I worked on some stuff for the Roddenberry Archive's Star Trek apple vision pro app.
It includes 3d assets of a bunch of ship bridges and the like. Worth a look for any LMG trekkies, I reckon!

Its not a surprise that there's a dudebro sexist culture at LMG. Its just disappointing that its seemingly not been acted on since Madison departed, as it doesn't take much of a guess to imagine the vast majority of the staff bros in question still have jobs at LMG.

lol good to know I have -a reputation- for burning shit into panels.
I guess my deciding to go this way back then was driven by a level of the advertising done on QDs not burning in. That and its attractive properties in terms of visual quality. I'd never gone OLED prior, so it was just bloody exciting. Besides the benefits for my work and gaming.
There was nothing I could see on the market with the same level of attraction. I'm a bit of a d*ckhead in that regard. This is the part where I point to my LG 5K2K(s).

And yep, I kind of figured it was coming after that RTINGS article.
    Off to warranty land. Again.

Was sick over the weekend, so played evidently too much Halo.
Burned in some UI elements and some larger blocks of discolouration that might be from some 3d suites I use regularly.
So, just in case anyone had yet to see some hands-on usage and evidence of QDOLED burn in... Be afraid, be afraid to a reasonable level of afraidness.

    And just for reference,
I run in 1000nit peak mode and swap between full HDR brightness for games and some work and lowest brightness in the windows display settings for less important work.
The 7 minute pixel refresh was done pretty regularly, with the panel refresh perhaps less so.
Received the monitor just under a year ago. July 2022 I believe.

RTINGS had similar findings with their accelerated longevity test with QD-OLED models having significant burn-in while LG's TV models had none. It sucks for the user, sure. But this one will really suck for Dell who has probably been selling millions of QD-OLED monitors including burn in warranty since the panel released.

@Serin you really seem to attract burn-in with your specific use case. From what i've seen you post in the past you even managed to burn-in some IPS monitors. So just out of curiosity, why did you go OLED in the first place knowing your use case is rather extreme for any monitor?

These findings really suck and are the exact opposite compared to what Samsung, and thus LTT and other content creators marketed with QD-OLED and it's resistance to burn-in. I'm glad i decided against the AW3423DW and for my C2. Didn't encounter any image retention yet, not even the temporary sort. Even after playing the same game for 200 Hours or so with little to no content variation in between. As a side not i use my C2 24/7 in HDR with the windows SDR conversion slider at 5. That means SDR content is 100 nits peak, HDR is full blast.

Saludos

    I would say definitely yes.
The fact that the PSU died doesn't necessarily mean that a new PSU will die instantaneously.
Just make sure you get a quality PSU like the one you've had.

If I may ask how old is the current/dead PSU?

I don't mean low brightness content (and obviously couldn't, given how critical brightness is in production work). In fact its fairly clear from the above pix and my own experience that its almost exclusively whiter shapes/windows etc that stay fairly permanent.
What I mean is the retention/burn-in/whatever shows up clearest in near-black windows, like the workspace of premiere pro, or blender default, as examples.

One of the best examples I've found is Marvelous Designer where the pattern window in white takes up half the screen space, with the other half taken up by a darker grey 3d window.
After a while, that divider line between them will show up for hours. Reckon if I was working in MD for a full day, the panel would be permanently buggered, just like my first one was as shown in the images I posted a couple of years ago of the bright spots in nebulae burning in.

And just for reference, this is an issue that has followed me across 3 or 4 PC's worth of hardware configs. 4 GPUs, 3 CPUs and obvs multiple cables.
Just to eliminate your 'it must be something else' hypothesis.

No, you super really don't. This is a full on tool for character creation, not a 'character creator'.
Being able to sculpt a characters face to the level of detail it looks like this thing'll provide is just... Do you want your audience to be completely lost? Because that's more or less what you'll get.

It looks fantastic, and the iphone depth cam integration is... A bit special. But it looks to be more of a professional tool than something you might find actually in a game.

As with everything LNP, one wonders as to the impetus set forth by Murdoch with regards to this, even if it does appear to be rational on its face.
It'll be interesting to see if they really do push it through. Dunno if they're really capable of the level of 'trillion dollar corps bad' that'll be required to win a PR war.

Guess it'll come down to which Aussies like less. The LNP or some multinational.

The cryptocurrency market has to die. From a logical and rational point of view it makes no sense whatsoever to convert electricity into an online currency. It literally has zero purpose. No I don't care that it helps you dodge taxations or that you are able to make an income from this. Electricity usage is already high enough in the world, we don't need morons running graphics cards day and night for nothing more than just money making reasons. I doubt Americans are able to understand my argument or care too much about environmental consequences but I can definitely see the EU stepping in one day and regulating this because it literally defies logic from a humanity perspective.

The trick is how you design the benchmarks for things that are perhaps a little more interesting than raw rendering power. They'd likely have to hire a vfx artist to create meaningful tests for most of this stuff.
I'd add viewport playback framerate and baking to the list. And probably a really stupidly high poly scene performance.

10/10 would like to see at least some of this stuff though.

Given the overwhelming demand for 30 series cards, it looks like Nvidia has pushed back the 3070 launch. One assumes this will give AIB's and Nvidia itself more time to prepare stock and subsequent drivers.

Yeah nah, good on em. The launch has been a complete fustercluck. Better to wait and build up additional resources before they let rip on the value card.
On a side note, one wonders how much the Chinese Golden Week influenced this decision, given the interruption it causes to supply.
