Well, I know Thomas Marrone from the STO dev team contributed, so the chances are some of it is from games. And I know that the Archive has a pretty close relationship with him and STO's assets. At the same time, they have access to assets from the shows as well, at least to some extent. For my part, I was working from studio reference and game assets, then modelling my own assets from them. So I think its safe to say it'll have been a mix. And yeah! It'd be a really good step forward to bring characters into it, but given the way they're doing things here(its not rendering locally, its essentially a NeRF or 3d scan of sorts rendering on their servers then sending video to the device - probably require a biiig rework.

I worked on some stuff for the Roddenberry Archive's Star Trek apple vision pro app. It includes 3d assets of a bunch of ship bridges and the like. Worth a look for any LMG trekkies, I reckon!

As far as I'm concerned, this shit far outstrips the GN drama. Its not a surprise that there's a dudebro sexist culture at LMG. Its just disappointing that its seemingly not been acted on since Madison departed, as it doesn't take much of a guess to imagine the vast majority of the staff bros in question still have jobs at LMG. The f**k am I gonna do with all this merch I can't stomach wearing now...

Sort of depends how one defines 'suitable' though, doesn't it. For instance, for this quality of colour repro and peak brightness, I think I'm probably ok living on the infinte merry-go-round of a 3 year burn in warranty. And hopefully any replacement unit will come with the updated firmware that is supposed to activate the refresh modes automatically on sleep. As per Hardware Unboxed latest follow up, I've never quite been sure whether its run once its gone to sleep.

Ahhh, keeping the old box. Thats something I've had to get really good at I gave up after the third panel was caput, mate. Switched over the alienware qd-oled sucker. Managed to burn some stuff into that recently too, despite being about as careful as a person could reasonably be with it. So annoyed. Starting to think its just... not avoidable.

lol good to know I have -a reputation- for burning shit into panels. I guess my deciding to go this way back then was driven by a level of the advertising done on QDs not burning in. That and its attractive properties in terms of visual quality. I'd never gone OLED prior, so it was just bloody exciting. Besides the benefits for my work and gaming. There was nothing I could see on the market with the same level of attraction. I'm a bit of a d*ckhead in that regard. This is the part where I point to my LG 5K2K(s). And yep, I kind of figured it was coming after that RTINGS article. Off to warranty land. Again.

On your question - nup. Not that I can find or am aware of. And yeah - I wish it was just some classic image retention. But having run multiple pixel/panel refreshes over the week... I fear it may be stuffed. Which is fine. Very much under warranty. But yeah. Super fun.

Was sick over the weekend, so played evidently too much Halo. Burned in some UI elements and some larger blocks of discolouration that might be from some 3d suites I use regularly. So, just in case anyone had yet to see some hands-on usage and evidence of QDOLED burn in... Be afraid, be afraid to a reasonable level of afraidness. And just for reference, I run in 1000nit peak mode and swap between full HDR brightness for games and some work and lowest brightness in the windows display settings for less important work. The 7 minute pixel refresh was done pretty regularly, with the panel refresh perhaps less so. Received the monitor just under a year ago. July 2022 I believe.

Yeah, good question... Trying to remember... I think probably 2018? Maybe 2019. It was a holdover from when I was running a maxwell titan x and 1080ti with a 5960x - on an 5800x and 3090 now. So fairly old. Still within warranty.

Hey all, long time no post. Was doing some 3D rendering today in blender eevee realtime engine today, and very suddenly my PC shut off. No joy on the restart and a red light on the PSU when everything was plugged in. Took it out and am now getting a click, smol fan spin and no green or red light. Tried the old 'leave it unplugged for 30 minutes' trick. Still red lighted me when it was all plugged in, and no lighted me in this unplugged state. This thread is largely just me asking whether or not I'm safe to go grab another PSU from the store and see wtf is going on - safe to say I have concerns about killing yet another PSU.

Just received my cloud II wireless 7.1's today and am having this exact issue - did you ever find a solution, OP?

Received my third LG 34WK95U-W 5k2k Ultrawide today after they finally sorted out the RMA of the second after 12 weeks. And, of course, it is inexplicably turning itself off at seemingly random interludes regardless of power or display cable, driver or any other setting I can think of. AVOID THIS SKU. It is cursed.

This happened randomly on new years day - fantastic birthday present really. Off to RMA land on Thursday for whatever fixes are necessary. Of the impression its a dying ribbon cable issue, but it might also mean an entirely new panel. Great timing. Only had a few months more of the three year warranty.

I don't mean low brightness content (and obviously couldn't, given how critical brightness is in production work). In fact its fairly clear from the above pix and my own experience that its almost exclusively whiter shapes/windows etc that stay fairly permanent. What I mean is the retention/burn-in/whatever shows up clearest in near-black windows, like the workspace of premiere pro, or blender default, as examples. One of the best examples I've found is Marvelous Designer where the pattern window in white takes up half the screen space, with the other half taken up by a darker grey 3d window. After a while, that divider line between them will show up for hours. Reckon if I was working in MD for a full day, the panel would be permanently buggered, just like my first one was as shown in the images I posted a couple of years ago of the bright spots in nebulae burning in. And just for reference, this is an issue that has followed me across 3 or 4 PC's worth of hardware configs. 4 GPUs, 3 CPUs and obvs multiple cables. Just to eliminate your 'it must be something else' hypothesis.

Out of curiosity, how much work are you doing with static shapes on your panels? Production software etc that has to stay up on the panel for however long it takes to complete whatever you're creating? Better yet, how much near-black stuff are you doing? Because that's where its bleedingly obvious, in my experience. Particularly of issue given how much of the production software space is filled with near-black menus etc. Shit, even my old 2015 samsung VA ultrawide that now sits off to the right of my LG 5K2K has the start bar burned in and visible in near-blacks despite not having a start bar on it for just a bit over 2 years. Open photoshop and bucket fill a few different shades of near-black at your screen res, then full screen 'em and check out that shit in a low ambient light setting.

Lots of people all like 'I want this in cyberpunk' No, you super really don't. This is a full on tool for character creation, not a 'character creator'. Being able to sculpt a characters face to the level of detail it looks like this thing'll provide is just... Do you want your audience to be completely lost? Because that's more or less what you'll get. It looks fantastic, and the iphone depth cam integration is... A bit special. But it looks to be more of a professional tool than something you might find actually in a game.
