  1. I will strongly suggest for Linus Tech Tips videos to include with them the specific date they were created. That way we the users would know if the information contained is current or dated. Thank you
  2. Right now I am looking for input about deciding which is the best motherboard -under C$ 300- to fit my likes and needs. I am not a gamer, but a sophisticated user in terms of the features I must have avoiding all those features that are irrelevant to me and that make motherboards unnecessarily more expensive. Must have support for:: -AMD 3rd generation probably the Ryzen 5 3600 with no intention of overclocking it - USB 3.2 Generation 2 - M.2 storage SSD (preferably for 2) - Minimum 32 GB of DDR4 Ram 3200 MHz - Sata 3 (at least 4 connectors) - WiFi - USB C port/s - USB Printer Cable connection - HDMI (2) - Front USB 3.2 (at least one) - Headphone output 3.5mm in Front - RJ 45 internet Cable port - space for Noctua air cooling system - Bluetooth 4.0 or better NO NEED for: - RGB system - NO GAMING whatsoever - NO SLI GPU capability Thank you kindly from Toronto, Canada
  3. I do not want to significantly upgrade from Intel Quad Core Q955 as i will be rebuilding over a 5 year old system. From what I have seen comparing with my daughter i3 processor my Intel Q955 is faster. I do general computing but i need 8 or more GB of Ram memory to support 50 or more simultaneous Webpages opened at once. Do not need 8 cores per se as i do not do heavy mathematical permutations. I do not play video games, I do stream live television to view on my PC screen. I do not edit video. So all that said, and given the limitations of micro ATX motherboards, I was thinking of an ATX Asus or Gigabyte (as second choice) with USB 3.0 Sata 6GBps, eSata port, RJ-45 cable port, and onboard Sound card. With 3 or four 3.5in drive trays + another one for a 2.5in SSD. PCIs and PCI 3.0 capabilities to acommodate different cards. One more thing, this is my support PC, so i just need the bare minimum to do all that without throttling my computer resources. My main computer components are; Asus Sabertooth Z87, Intel 4670K, Kingston Blu 2x8GB DDR3 1600, Corsair AX-750 Pro Gold, Intel 520 Series 512GB plus 2x500GB Western Digital Blue in Raid 1 + another 3 internal mechanical drives for storage. I have not overclocked it -yet- so i do have enough power for all i need and may need in the future. Intel i3 3227u
  4. I am not gaming, like in zero games. I would be replacing an LGA 775 mini ATX Dell board. i cannot justify a difference of C$ 70 to get the entry level Intel i5 to go with an Intel motherboard as I am a retired person without discretionary spending money. I do own a rapidly fading Intel Q955 which will need to to be replaced soon. My daughter owns a laptop with Intel i3 running Windows 7 64bit on a Micron MX-100 512GB SSD. with 8GB Ram memory. Very slow laptop, not impressed at all with Intel i3 it seems to be the weakest link of all components in there. and now this is to Faceman: i will be paying C$140 to $150 for the FX 8320. Which is the price of the comparable Intel i5 you are thinking of? Huh? Thank you all Components i already have are: Corsair RM550 W Gold NVidia GT 240 Hauppage 1250 Win TV Single Tuner TV Card 6GB (2x2GB + 2x1GB) on an available total of 4 DIMM Slots(probably will need to be replaced on the new rig) I have a MIni ATX case that i will have to replace if i go with a new ATX board. On the FX-8320E 95 W, or on the FX-8320 125W i would probably have to add a Noctua CPU cooler of some kind. Hopefully not the huge Noctua NH-D14. I refuse to use water cooling solutions inside a computer.
  5. I would also need RJ45 port. eSata port would also be nice but it is not a must. Thank you
