  1. Assuming the Atom N280 is running a linux distribution. Look into the distro package management for docker. Run the web server inside a docker container. No need for VM.
  2. Sync will not allow this. Once public the folder permission is different. Depending on your settings. Read vs read write. Create a new folder and symlink the files to a new folder and sync that. I know this works on ext filesystem on linux not sure about BSD jail.
  3. 1. You can download an installation media from Microsoft here --> http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media. 2. You would still require a valid key to activate. Which you can buy from Microsoft or other parties.
  4. No its not lightweight at all. Are you running a IDE/PATA SSD? I recommend this Archbang and this is why? answer If you did try it? I really would like to know how its performing on your computer.
  5. @Christoffer - Do not reinstall your Win10 - It's like killing a fly with a bazooka. 1. The problem seems to be isolated to your chrome. 2. Before you uninstall your chrome make sure to disable all extensions (this way it would not automatically reinstall extensions when you reinstall chrome.) 3. Manually remove all chrome profile files (here is a link for you to get started) 4. Run Malwarebytes + Adware + Antivirus software you need (Avast/AVG is good choice). 5. Makesure your Antivirus is set to full system scan on the next reboot (make sure it's virus database is updated). Reboot the computer. 6. I would recomend you run the Antivirus + Malware programs in the background. 7. Reinstall chrome and enable extensions manually. (make sure to enable AVG/Avast extensions first) 8. If everything went well your malware/adware should be removed.
  6. FYI - Mint is having issue with the graphics driver on the live USB. Pres alt F2-F8 to get into getty and continue from there. Since you are trying to boot into a desktop environment to check the contents of the HDD. Try a different Linux distro, recomend using something like damn small linux or puppy.
  7. Since you have deleted your linux partition that leaves very few options for recovery. (Similar to what my nephew did to his Lenovo laptop). Before attempting any of these please ensure to backup your data on the HDD./SSD 1. Disconnect the boot HDD/SSD from the PC 2. Start the system and you shoud post and be able to enter into your hardware UEFI 3. Disable UEFI/Enable legacy BIOS boot options. 4. Boot into a live USB to make sure it works 5. Connect the HDD/SSD and boot into Live USB From here you got options. 1. use GPARTED from the LIVE USB to and re-partition your HDD/SDD first then enable UEFI and install a fresh copy of Win8.1 2. Install Ubuntu without UEFI support and enable it later (might have o install additional packages during install process) 3. Use the the LIVE USB/Win8.1 installation media to remove GRUB and edit GPT and EFI cert Just google to find out how to use any one of these options.
  8. Most new routers have DMZ feature. Use it to completely isolate this machine from others connected to your network.
  9. What @AHaskin14 said.
  10. It's been a long emotional journey. Started with Mandrake. Tried Slackware. Moved to Debian and fell in love with Ubuntu and got dumped. Rebounded to OpenSUSE and Fedora. Identity crisis with FreeBSD. Finally settled with Arch for the last 5 years (rolling updates with no reinstall). Even have a small 3 year old RasPi server named ArchArm.
  11. @hypnodog. I bought a windows 8.1 Pro key from this guy and it worked. Wheather is this 100% legit. I do not know. But I bought it using a credit card and thus far it works. You decide. Link
  12. @Coaxialgamer given the specs. I recommend #!ArchBang, give it a try. It runs OpenBox (almost a decent UI without the drag and drop functions) and simple no fuss user interface with short cut keys etc. You can check out youtube for Distro Videos.
  13. @VerticalDiscussions as @VirtualR3ality explained IMHO bittorrent sync server works great. There is even a app for Android allowing you to backup photo's etc. (might require a little setup). I have raspi connected to DMZ on my router syncing all dekstops. laptops and portable devices. One your on your home network it automatically does LAN sync instead of clogging your internet connections.
