  3. Hi everybody, Quick question: is it possible to manually control (via software in Windows) the speed of case fans (PWM) that are connected with PWM directly to the motherboard 4-pin sockets? I'm looking for a way to best balance noise/performance. Thanks in advance!
  4. Hi all, I'm debating what the best, MOST STABLE, ddr4 ram speed would be for the 8700k. I remember reading that 3200mhz was considered best for z270 (something because the standard ram was 2400mhz), and that 3000mhz should be avoided. Will this change for z370 (with a new standard of 2666mhz)? Is there even such a thing as different ram speeds being more or less stable?
  5. Yeah, I know. However, I really had my eye on the DRP3. Initially I was looking at the nh-d15 (for the 7700K), and switched to DRP3 for purely esthetic reasons. So I can sacrifice a few degrees for looks, but I'm not willing to go further.
  6. Well thanks again for the info! Determining the real clearance is always very tricky as there doesn't to appear a real standardized way of measuring, and all heatsink manufacturers just give the safe figures. Best of luck with your SFF case! Have a good one!

  8. Thanks for the reply! I saw that the fan is moved a little higher, but in the pictures I can see there is room for the 44mm ram even under the heatsink (rated at 39mm clearance). That's what's confusing...
  9. Hi everyone, I'm researching a new build, and have ran into the following issue - beQuiet Dark Rock Pro 3 and G.skill Trident Z compatibility. The ddr4 modules have a height of 44mm and the cpu cooler has 34.9mm clearance below the front fan and 39mm clearance below the heatsink (http://www.bequiet.com/volumes/PDM/_products/bk019/bk019_dim_en.pdf). Judging by the figures above, they should not fit. However, I found multiple builds on pcpartpicker where the TridentZ ram has exactly enough height below the cpu cooler (http://pcpartpicker.com/b/T4zMnQ) My question is the following: is there a height difference between ram slots and the cpu socket? How could 44mm high ram modules fit under a cpu cooler that has a maximum of 39mm clearance? Am I missing something? Thanks in advance!

  11. Hey guys I'm starting a new build and I am looking at some Phanteks cases, particularly the Primo and the Luxe. Does anyone know if there are any plans for new cases from Phanteks with tempered glass in the pipeline? (I'm a sucker for that nice shiny glass) I know the Evolve TG, but it does not fit EATX (RV Edition 10) and does not have ODD slots (I want to get a VR connection panel in the front) So, any rumors about upcoming products from them?
  12. Some Phanteks cases have hidden front ports. They are also high-quality and quiet-ish. I can't comment on the design as that will be down to your personal taste, but Enthoo Evolve ATX is minimalist and very elegant. You can also check the Enthoo Luxe. All are great cases for first time builders with great instructions and easy build options.

Maybe this is a good starting point. I'll come back if I have any ideas regarding the rest

The best way to go about deciding if sli is for you: 1. make a list of the games you play/ want to play 2. look at reviews/benchmarks where those games were used - Google "name of game" + "sli" 3. see which ones performed well, and if they did, by how much they scaled 4. see which ones lack support or have issues with sli 5. make an informed decision as the other guys said, some games will really benefit from sli, while others will run worse due to no sli support
