  1. The monitor is the asus mx27aq, the problem is the monitor only supports 1080p over hdmi.
  2. I don't need anything powerful at all, the monitor doesn't have dvi so that's not an option, and no graphics card right now, just a gigabyte (I think) motherboard.
  3. My brother got my mom a 1440p monitor for her birthday to replace 2 really old 1080p lcd's. I built her computer a while ago but the motherboard only has vga, dvi, and hdmi and I can't find an affordable dvi/dp adapter that can do more than 1080p. Also the monitor won't do 1440p over hdmi so I need suggestions for a super cheap graphics card that has the necessary DisplayPort and maybe even hdmi 2.0 etc. in case a 4K monitor is ever in her future.
  4. Probably the fastest speed test I've ever seen, run from a virtual workstation at my school. http://beta.speedtest.net/result/5537547015
  5. Ok thanks! I haven't opened up the old computer yet to find out, just going by Windows.
  6. And yes I made sure to pick out a motherboard that supports 1066
  7. I want to re-use some old 1066Mhz RAM from an older computer and I want to make sure this CPU supports it as I was checking on the intel product page and it says only 1333 and 1600, is this correct?
  8. In terms of mobo compatibility with Haswell is it fine? cause pcpartpicker says some H81 chipsets might require a BIOS update?
  9. I thought of going with a lot less wattage but this power supply is cheap and looks pretty decent.
  10. Wow, thanks for the quick responses! My mom mainly browses the web, does eBay etc. so no gaming, the computer she's upgrading from had a and e300 APU which is just pitifully slow and struggles to load web pages, and since it's soldered to the mobo I looked into a fresh build. The case is mainly an ascetic choice, not too small, not too big, and why would you think I would need SATA cables?
  11. I'm building a simple but powerful computer for my mom that will last a while, I'm just wondering if there are any issues in terms of fans, cables and stuff like that, also I'm going to reuse a hard drive from a previous computer and also the RAM, thanks! http://pcpartpicker.com/p/HXK2D3
  12. I think the first time I stumbled upon LTT was when Linus was doing a showcase of a triple monitor setup in a blue room. Ever since then the quality's gotten a lot better and are definitely one of the subs I like seeing in my sub box .
  13. I like the sleek and subtle RoG logo on the back.
