Love the build design. Very Apple-esque.

Like the article stated, the CPU optimizations that OEMs used only give a performance increase of 0 to 5 percent. Very minimal. The benchmarks really don't matter even before this happened.

So apparently AnandTech (a news tech site that Linus really loves), had done an investigation in manufacturer's benchmarks and found that majority of these OEMs are cheating the system to make their hardware superior. With the investigation, it has been found that Apple and Motorola are the two OEMs that don't cheat on benchmarks. Now you may argue what is actually cheating and isn't but I think it's great to see a major tech publishing site putting this issue into the limelight. Despite all of the effort that OEMs put into benchmark optimizations, the gains are negligible. The impact on CPU tests revealed a 0 to 5 percent performance increase, and a less than 10 percent increase on GPU benchmarks. Thoughts? (I can already predict the Apple hate comments about saying "Apple not cheating" is a lie...) Link: http://www.anandtech.com/show/7384/state-of-cheating-in-android-benchmarks

According to these new findings by patentfreedom.com, Apple has been targeted by patent trolls for violating their patents . (Lodsys, and most currently Remote Locator Systems) Now, I know you guys always think Apple is the one who always patent troll but looking at these numbers, Apple is really getting hammered by these lawsuits. So, let's not hate Apple in this thread (ex. "Apple is copying everyone, they deserve to get sued", or "Apple been suing other companies.. now how does it feel?") but all agree that patent trolls suck and it's terrible for any company to go through. Credit: macrumors.com Forgot to add the link. For people saying macrumors.com isn't a reputable source. The article they post was sourced by the link below. So yes, it's legit... https://www.patentfreedom.com/about-npes/pursued/

This is most likely apart of some marketing campaign Apple might be starting. It is common for companies to trademark "words", "slogans", etc. Ie. "I'm lovin' it".

Galaxy Note III rumored to have 4k video capture!!
j0hnlam replied to beebskadoo's topic in Tech News
If they are going to put a 4K video camera in there, they better start by upgrading the storage. Base 16gb + expandable storage will not be enough.- 42 replies

A big RRSP (pension) and severance package for him thanks to Microsoft.

Don Mattrick should come back and be the CEO of Microsoft. If anyone can help Microsoft do an 180 from the mess their in, it's him! sarcasm.

A search committee consisted of "John Thompson, the board’s lead independent director, and includes Chairman of the Board Bill Gates, Chairman of the Audit Committee Chuck Noski and Chairman of the Compensation Committee Steve Luczo." is find the new CEO and internal executives. I wouldn't be surprised if Julie Larson-Green replaces Steve Ballmer.
-
Totally agree! I just hope Microsoft doesn't pull a HP where they keep changing CEOs. Now that's bad for a company image.
-
Leadership change is always bad for a company, especially for the stock price. It's an image that the company is unstable and is going through a rebuild. Shareholders do not like their investment to be rebuilding or being unstable. Ie. Blackberry's structure rebuilding when Co-CEO stepped down. Stock price went down IIRC.
