The idea that the "Ti" cards are further unlocked versions of a card is simply not true.
 
GTX 650 = fully unlocked GK107
GTX 650 Ti = locked down GK106
GTX 660 = fully unlocked GK106
GTX 660 Ti = locked down GK104
GTX 670 = less locked down GK104
GTX 680 = fully unlocked GK104

Kind of off-topic but Nvidia makes APUs and their own CPUs. Tegra K1 for example.

Motorola is nearly there as well. Their cameras aren't as good as Apple's and Samsungs (not just photo quality but speed) and if I recall the Moto X had terrible battery life. Although the second gen Moto X may have improved upon that. and the Nexus 6... well... just too big lmao.

Every company has a design language that they tend to follow (samsung is all over the place though)
HTC will probably eventually do away with that chin but it's incremental it's how it works man!

I am talking about skipping on the desktop. I didn't think I had to explain why. The point is if the naming convention was tied to the hardware specifically then they could not have skipped it on the desktop.

7W on idle versus 16W on idle. 119W on load versus 187W. The power consumption differences between the two is pretty drastic, the 960 basically owns performance/watt in this battle. You also didn't help your case with those benchmarks, the R9 285 still consumes more power, a considerable amount too.
 
Also I posted the power draw from the cards alone, not the system. Power draw from the R9 285 is still like, what, 50% more in comparison? Hell, my GTX 780 has a better performance/watt than the R9 285 lel.
  I didn't say it wasn't acceptable, I said the 960 is better. Also again, my 780 has better performance per watt in comparison. The R9 285 doesn't scream efficiency.
 
I can tell you're not old enough to pay for electricity yet. For long term cost, yes, it makes a difference. An 80W difference could be $60 a year depending on usage and location.

If "better across the board" means "in some games," then you're right.
 
 
And if by "cheaper," you mean a single card with an ugly cooler and a brand I don't trust as much as Gigabyte or EVGA, then yea, you're right.
