Psykocys got a reaction from Tetras in Upgrade from r5 3600 really worth it?
The only thing I have to say to this is in simulation type games, racing games in particular, or flight sim, or whatever, it loves the extra cache, really what's not talked about enough is the 1% or .1% lows the spikes I had on my 3800X were way worse than on the 5800X3D, would be along the same lines with the 3600, as a drop in replacement if you have the gpu(6800 is toeing the line), I say go for it, if you are not cpu bound then this is not gonna help you much and you are better off looking at a gpu upgrade, but if playing at higher refresh rate then x3d for sure.

In all honesty if you play sim style racing games you will see an uplift not necessarily in max frames(though some you will), but the game will feel 10x smoother imo, I play quite a few diff racing games

    F1 23- benefits alot
    Forza Motorsport- Alot
    AC - EHH
    ACC - alot
    Dirt Rally 1/2 - alot
    Iracing - alot

Long story short x3d part will give you a lot of uplift in sim racing based games, in others it's about the same

Honestly looking to buy used off of something like facebook marketplace might not be a bad play here, at least in my area quite a few folks dumping their rtx 30 series PCs for around that price point could possibly end up with more for your money, but the build above is great too would definitely reuse parts at 1k if buying new parts.

Agreed since i did them around the same time I only had the 270x with the i5 for a short while, the jump to a 780ti was much more worth it.

The problem is back and I found the source. An exe bitcoin mining software called "sgminer.exe".
I havent installed anything recently so it must have been around for a while on my computer.
It is a very sophisticated software as if the GPU gets under load by the user whith eg. a game it gives over the processing power so the user wouldn't notice a thing.

However since it has a very close relation whith the GPU my clean intalll of the GeForce experience the code and files were corrupted so the software got a memory leak, it started using a lot of CPU power for that and it got recognised immediatelly. It was shining brite like a diamond with lots of Windows warning messeges, 100% of ram, cpu and gpu usage, it overvhelmed my PC in 3.5 hours and the visual output was compromised.

After looking in the soure of this I found that there is a CPUminer and a GPU miner softwere separatelly but since the CPU miner is not corrupted yet it doesn't show up anywhere.
The uninstall button seems to work, everything is fine sice.

The 290 will be discontinued, in favor of the 390 all that's left is whatever stock of 290s that are left.

Your profile says you have Titan X SLI. How is that sad? The Fury X gets 86.7% the performance of two Titan X's in that case. That's massive.
I'll wait for others to bench it, I'm just saying. I'm confused how that is sad.

I would wait for Skylake Intel has not really Hyped up performance for the mainstream platform in quite a while which they are doing for SKYLAKE. Comparing it to the performance increase brought by Conroe is quite a statement.

Both a 980ti and dual 390s will not drive 4k at 60fps BUT 980ti will be a better single card solution which will allow for sli later.
So what when he wants more gpu later he will need three 390s? no thats pointless and wont give much benifit.
Single 980ti and get another later.

Okay so a friend of mine wanted to build a computer by him self. (He has zero experience he's only seen me build them that's it...)
So I order most of the parts and he orders the power supply and hard drive..
I had everything shipped to his house it was all their in June the 15th...
He calls me June the 25th...

Sooo kyle, I have tried to put this dam blasted crap together a thousand times now and I just can't fiqure it out like where does the CD even go in at? And blah blah blah... I couldn't stop laughing half way threw.

So I get their at his house and I'm looking at this disaster on the floor... (HORRIFIED)
The Hard drive was for an IDE cable... (WHERE DID HE EVEN FIND AN IDE HARD DRIVE???)
the sata cables where crammed into the hard drive like he had bought more because he said their was still pins left over... (face palmed)
The GPU was in the bottom slot at least it was in a GPU slot...
    The fans where duck-tapped on...
The CPU cooler had no paste on it (he used it when inserting the GPU....) Was told by one of his friends I guess that it would help slide it in.....
The power supply was not even in the case he tapped it to the top... I don't even know how the cables managed to reach...
I mean I could go on... but I'm just gonna let you figure the rest out...

I wanted to make it look somewhat better than it does currently, so I want to add a side window. I found some plexiglass that was rather scratched up, but I didn't mind as I wanted to frost it anyway. I have some Led's to throw in it to illuminate the frosted plexiglass. We'll see how it goes.

Oh when I read it it had said it could take up to 7 days I assume it has something to do with the amount of refunds and I assume if it's refunded during the steam sale all the traffic makes it a longer wait. But I don't get why they can't give you almost instant or day of if you get the refund in steam credit.

Really in all honestly i dont mind 8.1, especially since i got it for free with my school dreamspark account, but i did dislike that i had to download a program to get a classic start screen instead of the metro. Though minus the metro "enhancements" I think its great minus the added compatibility issues but I expect that to happen at certain points down the line.

Psykocys reacted to redstern in Monitor - Dell S2440L
    Quick specs:
Glossy IPS panel 60Hz 1920x1080 6ms response time 5000:1 contrast ratio 24" I have had this monitor for a year or 2, and the experience has been overall pretty good, although there are some big problems that need to be mentioned.  So start with the good.  The picture quality is great, the colors and contrast are very deep and is very nice to look at.  However, when looking at a dark picture, the backlight bleed is atrocious.  All around the edges and up to a centimeter in are very noticably brighter with the left edge in particular being the worst.  There is also some nociable ghosting with movement in high contrast such as text scrolling.  As for on screen menu navigation, this is my least favorite part of this monitor.  On the bottom right corner are 5 particularly terrible capacitive buttons.  First, they are extremely picky about where exactly you need to touch for them to work, and second, none of the buttons with the exception of the power button have any designated functions.  Regardless of which one you press, it pulls up the main menu, from there each button will be mapped to up, down, enter, back.  This means that even changing inputs, which should just be a dedicated button, requires navigating through the full menu.  Now on to the physical aspects.  The back has only a VGA and an HDMI, however there is a lip below the ports that makes plugging in connectors difficult.  The monitor also uses an external power brick, making the monitor a bit thinner and lighter, and allowing the monitor to run significantly cooler at the cost of taking up a bit more space if you care.  The stand is pretty unimpressive as it can only tilt up or down, and not very far either.  I should also add, that my stand seems to be defective as my monitor doesn't stand straight, it tilts to the left a bit, and I have to put quarters under the left side to keep it straight.  I should have returned it, but I didn't.  The bezels are pretty thick at about 3/4 of an inch.  The screen and bezels are covered with either glass or gloss coated plexiglass, I can't tell.  Despite the many flaws mentioned, the viewing experience is still good if backlight bleed and some ghosting doesn't bother you, although the initial setup can be tricky due to awekwardly positioned ports.

    Quick summary:

Very good overall image quality, very deep contrast and accurate colors. Horrible backlight bleed around entire border Some noticable ghosting in high contrast movement, such as text scrolling. Terrible menu buttons External power brick Awkwardly positioned VGA and HDMI ports Not very good stand
