babadoctor reacted to trag1c in use regex to replace string in URL with something else
    you could probably use
\byoutube\.com\b This uses word boundaries so that it will match what's between the \b. The escape before the period is that it will match the period and not any character at that position.

So with a string replace function you should be able to substitute the matched regex without messing with the rest of the URL.

Also could be that your system is running too hot and fail safe triggered. Wait half an hour and try again. Check all cables is properly latched and secure and properly seated. Check to make sure you plug in the correct cables into the correct location. Improperly connections can kill mobo and hardwares at the same time. I had this happened to me where my mobo was working fine for 8 months to a year then finally the gpu and mobo died same time. It was only then I realized I had improperly connected my GPU PCI cables.

hmm seems weird. if your psu only has fans when in load it wont work but bacily you have to bend a paper clip to go inside the green cable and the other side to go into the black cable of the motherboads psu cable.

Take your motherboard to a pc shop to have them test if it's dead or not. Sounds like a dud mobo sadly. But hard to tell unless you get it tested. Most pc shop does free motherboard testing to check if it's working or not if you live in the States.

You can try this https://visihow.com/Determine_if_Your_Motherboard_Is_Dead im not sure how effective it is to actually testing if the mobo is dead or not. I usually just take it to a shop for free and have them run a meter test.

    Sounds like a short.

Start the process of elimination. Start unplugging (data and power) individual components, one by one. I'd start with any sata connected drives. (Have had/ seen a lot of them fail and short out)

Crap, I left that detail out, 17+ years of R/C experience and I messed up my first response comment, I was refering to the OP's battery, but I did not convey the information I meant correctly. I use explain all sorts of RC stuff to people and well, I can speak better than I can type.
I have edited my comment, and I am now kicking myself.
Most of the time you charge a LiPo by it's amp/capacity rating (wihich is 1c) with the designated charger. For example for a 1000Mah battery, you would set the charger to 1amp.

1C is pretty common practice. You should be fine. I run 1.3A at 6S voltages for my quad batteries all day long with no issue.

babadoctor reacted to mariushm in Creating chia plots using ram ONLY? No endurance issues?
Well, look at it this way...
The final plot on your disk is around 100 GB, but while that plot is processed I heard it may take up to 200-250 GB of disk space.  So you need to reserve that 250 GB or whatever it's needed for each plot.
There's a significant amount of CPU power used to calculate the data written in the plots and if you want to make a profit / be competitive, you want to mine multiple plots in parallel to keep the cpu busy. It would not be efficient and cheap to have a $500-1000 cpu with 16+ cores and only use 2 cores to mine one or two plots at a time

Each regular desktop ram stick uses maybe 2 watts. A server stick may use 3-5 watts, especially if it's the "buffered" kind. If you have let's say 16 sticks of DDR3 on a dual socket motherboard, you're looking at 16 x 3-4w = around 50 watts just for the ram sticks. Then, you also have the power used by two memory controllers inside the CPUs, which have to deal 4 channels and 2 sticks per channel, so they use more power compared to regular desktop processors that have just 2 channels.
You'll also have to cool the ram sticks with one or two fans because so many sticks packed together producing that much heat need to be cooled - in servers they ram slots are positioned in such a way that the high power fans in front of the case push air over them and keep them cool - if you don't have a case like that, you need to add fans, and that's another 5-10w

So let's say 75w just for ram sticks + fans  ... compare that to around 10w power consumption of a nvme SSD.

The processors are also old and fairly inefficient, so let's say you'd be consuming maybe 40-60w per CPU mining just two plots...

Watch derbauer's video about mining chia on Youtube ... he explains how he mined around 6 plots in parallel with a very powerful machine...

babadoctor reacted to BondiBlue in Creating chia plots using ram ONLY? No endurance issues?
RAM isn't really something I'd personally consider. I can easily do 4 plots at a time between 2 SSDs in my machine, and that's only because I run out of RAM for my system to function. If I had a bit more RAM or set lower limits I could do a couple more at a time. I don't see how using a RAM disk would be much better for that. And besides, if I kill both of the SSDs I was using (I've stopped plotting) they cost me less than $200 combined, so no big deal.

babadoctor reacted to NunoLava1998 in Creating chia plots using ram ONLY? No endurance issues?
Problem is, it would be very very expensive, as each Chia plot is 101GiB large. 1TB of DDR3 RAM on eBay is about 2,000$, so you'd spend at the very minimum just under 200$ per plot.

babadoctor reacted to mariushm in Creating chia plots using ram ONLY? No endurance issues?
You could create a RAM drive which shows up in the operating system like a regular hard drive, so Chia wouldn't have any clue about it.

But think about it ... from what I heard, it uses around 200-250 GB of disk space plus some temporary files during mining of one plot ... so at most you'd probably be able to mine 2 plots at same time using 512 GB of memory... so you'd have an expensive system with lots of threads that can only use 2-3 threads for mining
DDR4 is also expensive, so you'd be paying a lot for ddr4 registered / buffered memory to get to your 512 GB / 1 TB of ram.

I was thinking about it, using G34 (old AMD opteron motherboards)... you could have bought a dual socket g34 motherboard WITH 2 opteron processors for around 100-150$ .. and then fill it with cheaper DDR3 server sticks.
BUT, those opteron processors are really slow, so on one hand you are saving money by not killing your ssd drives but you're paying more in electricity for powering two opterons and all the ram sticks and because the ipc sucks (low performance per core)  it would take way more time for a plot to be mined, so you wouldn't be efficient.

I have worked in retail (I did the repairs) with RC stuff, so I can at least recommend some sites.

    C means the capacity in Ah. Your battery is 5200mAh = 5.2Ah so 1C = 5.2A indeed.

Generally for these LiPos 1C is fine, although I personally prefer 0.5C just to be on the safe side.

    Anyway, this:
wouldn't be great. Well of course too slow is never an issue but 520mA charging would take quite long.

Unless your device can charge in a specific way, this can be dangerous.

    Check out EEVbog's video.
The information I told you is for charging LiPos with chargers specifically designed for charging them, because all you pretty much have to do is punch in the numbers and let the charger do it's thing.

I can't find much information about it or the brand, and that price is cheap, too cheap. I would not buy and I'm a cheapo when it comes to buying R/C stuff.
You are better off with something from Venom, LRP, or any others you can usually buy from a hobby store.

5 to 5.2 amps for most 5200Mah R/C LiPo batteries, but that may depend on what manufacture recommends. What brand and model battery do you have?

Also, I have 17 + or - years of experience with surface radio controlled models. (I need to get back into it, lol)

I think you could do it, so long as you can work out how to convert your audio into packets and then decode them back to something you can spit out through a DAC, it should be pretty doable.

babadoctor reacted to Kilrah in Use LoRA module for audio transmission?
You can use LoRA-capable modules to transmit whatever you want, but not through LoRAWAN since that's a wide area network you have no need for to make a local system and that has strict requirements and limitations that are geared towards extremely low amounts of data.

babadoctor reacted to H713 in Audio splitters + adjustable volume knobs, why so expensive?
Parts to build them are expensive. Speakers are high-current low-impedance devices, so the switches need to be very meaty in order to handle that kind of current. Decent switches are super expensive, especially rotary switches.

If they're doing volume control at the speaker level (which is a horrible way to do it), then they're using L-pads. Without going into too much detail, they're built like a big rheostat. I actually just bought a couple rheostats for a transmitter filament supply recently- I think I ended up spending $30 each for used ones. L-pads are cheaper, but not by much.

cuz analog signals. digital would be much easier to deal with, but if your audio devices dont run on them you will have to deal with how sensitive they are to resistance, capacitance and more numbers in the whole curcuit.
