I have f.lux and nightshift on my devices, but I read that the software blue light filters like those are not as effective as physical filters like lenses.

The GTX 970 has 4gb of vram, but the last 500mb are much slower than the first 3.5gb.  However, they are still much faster than saving to system ram in 99% of cases.

If the 390X is even with a suspected 980Ti or remotely close to a Titan X, then AMD might have a serious powerhouse single gpu for the first time in forever and potentially make Nvidia step up there game.  I hope the 390X is good so we get actual competition between Nvidia and AMD...but personal GPU quibbles aside... I think people have been having problems getting this to work with non-Maxwell based cards.

Nvidia GPUs don't support Free-Sync so the Free-Sync capabilities of that monitor would be totally useless.

General rule of thumb, don't touch your pc innards while using it lol.  What 460 is it?

It updated! I did a client refresh, where I quit the client, then restarted it and relogged into web control.  That fixed it.

May I remind you that when the 295x2 launched it cost $1500?  The Titan X only recently launched.

This is a GREAT build.  I have three comments:
 
1. If you want to upgrade your ram later make sure your mobo has quad-channel support and that the ram has quadchannel, OR buy 1 8gb stick of ram now (you might get 1-2fps lower in some games, typically one) and buy another one later as dual channel support is pretty much universal now.  
 
2.  If you were ruling out a 970 because of the vram thing, then why did you opt for a 2gb 960?  
 
3.  Also, NVidia cards get a decent chunk more performance out of their VRAM because they have SUBSTANTIALLY higher memory clocks.  Just wanted to throw that out there....

A ridiculous CPU like that, and not a GTX 980?  Interesting budget XDXD.  Whatever it was, it was a heck of a lot bigger than mine.

You said you don't need a new monitor, yet there is one sitting on the parts list....
 
I would swap out the 970 with the Gigabyte G1 Gaming 980.
 
But even if you didn't take out the monitor you would still come in at your previously listed $1700 budget.

Search 970 SLI vs. single 980 on youtube and look at benchmarks.   970sli is better at 1080p and 1440p but at 4k the lower performance of the last .5gb of vram really shows letting the 980 pass it at 4k imo

I wouldn't if I'm on a budget and the performance gain is so negligible.  Show some in-game-benchmarks to back yourself up.  Ok didn't know that about GPUBoss.  Thx.
