  1. Thanks again for the information. Based on what you just said, I think I already have my voltage on fixed as it goes down while idle. Anyway, I'm sorry if this turned into a overclocking thread, not what I expected. Before I put the nail on the coffin, so do you think my voltage is to High for 4.4 ghz? I do want to get a 4.2 but it's so confusing beacuse there's no way to define my actual voltage, unless I'm missing something here, no idea what the negative values are when changing voltage(edit) just did some research and people are saying I can read vCore through TouchBIOS. I'm assuming that's a downloadable program?
  2. Hey man, thanks for such a long and informative answer, I really appreciate it. I'm sorry if my lack of knowledge is irritating, I'm completely new to overclocking as you may have assumed already. Anyway, what do you mean by a "offset" voltage? I'm assuming it probably makes your voltage stable all the time instead of effciently changing it to lower voltages when requiring less power? If this is indeed the case, then I have yet to come across such a option that will allow this in my BIOS, I will do some deeper digging tomorrow though and let you know. Regarding readings of the voltage, I think you missunderstood, your telling me to decrease my voltage to a certain number, my problem is that I have no way to define what number I have set my voltage to, only a way to increase and decrease in amounts and that's it. There is no place or reading telling my that " you have changes your voltage by xx amount, your voltage is now set to xxxx amount", but instead I'm looking at the Vcore on HWINFO and on there it changes all the time, while playing games hitting high and while idle low. Now I'm quite happy with the overclock I've achieved at the moment and I personally don't think it's going to effect my CPU's lifespan by TOO much, ( I'm hoping is the right word) but my complications are minimal really while all I need is to have the ability to read my total voltage, and change them accordingly. The biggest reason I want to decrease my voltage however is for lower temps as the ones I have currently aren't the worst but there's a lot of leg room for improvement. ( 35-40 with chrome and a few other tasks, and 60-65 while playing games). Regarding GPU usage, I think that section is completely solved ( for GTA at least ) and I'm pretty sure it was a bottleneck as I now get a solid 60-80 FPS with the same settings with GPU usage occasionally dipping to the 70's, no loss in framerate there though. CPU usage works a lot less hard staying in the 70-80's region for the most part. If I'm too hyped about the temps I think I may just slip to a 4.2 GHZ decrease the voltage and call it a day. Anyway, I'm just rambling now, sorry for the abnoxoiusly long reply, just had to throw in a few concernes there, - oh yeah, hope it's not getting annoying but, LORD GABEN bless your steam libary! [EDIT]: if you are referring to the auto voltage l, I'm pretty sure I turned that off when I overclocked above 4 ghz, my voltage still changes all the time regardless according to HWINFO
  3. So lets stay I put a static voltage of 1.350 will it never go higher or lower then that? Also, I'm not too sure how to do this actually. Also, what are the negative values for, underclocking right, or decreasing the voltage?
  4. Sorry, what do you mean by static? [EDIT]: Nvm, you mean make it so that it's always the same voltage? Isent that bad though? Temps could get really hot when idling
  5. Hello, I've recently treid overclocking for the first time, pushing my cpu to 4.4 GHZ, my motherboard's bios is really werid though. Anyways, I put the voltage on + 0.050 first and then put it back on + 0.040 because I thought the voltage was to high as the max vcore in HWINFO was showing around 1.368. So I've done this now and nothing changed, the vcore is still changing between 1.008 V and 1.368 V, did I up the voltage twice or am I doing something wrong here, as theres also a minus Vcore option...
  6. I just overclocked and testing my cpu atm at around 4.4 ghz and I increased the voltage by 0.50 and disabled auto, it seems stable to far but the core VID on hwinfo is going to 1.371 V on full load, is that good? I can't seem to find a place in the motherboard to tell what the maximum voltage is set to, it just lets me increase and decrease it. [EDIT]: Nevermind. I just found out that I'm supposed to be looking at the Vcore and at max it hits 1.368V which is not too bad I guess, I'm going to try backing the voltage down by 0.05 volts and see what happens though, however it's a tad bit confusing beacuse apparently 0.00 V is the stock voltage, I added 0.50 for my 4.4 ghz overclock and now do I -0.5 or + 0.45 I have no idea..."shrugs" so the question is, how do I see my current Vcore voltage in the bios?
  7. This is awkward...The i5 2500k stock speed is 3.30 ghz, so doesn't they mean you over clocked it? Anyway, that's werid beacuse even with my CPU at 4 ghz I rarely get 100% GPU usage, and I have the same cpu as you. What could possibly be causing this to happen?
  8. I've already seen TB video, so I have all those turned off.. I have the distance scaling on max though.
  9. May Lord Gaben be with you for the quick replies. I will try hit a 4.5 ghz overclock tommrow and adjust the overclock accordingly. ( looking back the earlier post they scrapped the whole payments for mods thing, dunno if that was toy or someone else who posted)
  10. Thanks, I will try to adjust the voltage tommrow as I'm in bed now, it will take some tries as I'm new to overclocking. Will my CPU be good for the meantime though with this voltage, or is it going to explode? I used this guide here.. http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18375640
  11. Okay, I have good news finally. After playing GTA 5 in daytime driving around for half an hour, I think it's safe to say that overclocking my CPU helped, alot. My CPU usage no longer tops up at 100% all the time but rather stays 80-90%, and my GPU usage still dips below 80% however it's much less now and as a result my frames rarely dip below 60 now, which is AWESOME! However there is something I'm concerned about, and that is my voltage. I have it set to auto atm but should I'm wondering if I should lower it a bit as it's sometimes getting to 1.381 V which I heard is bad and decreases the CPU's lifespan, despite temperatures never exceeding 60'C. May Lord Gaben bless your framerates.
  12. Hey, thanks for the quick reply. I just overclocked ( for the first time!) my 2500k to 4.0 GHZ, all I did was change the multiplier and I left the voltage on auto. I ran prime95 for around an hour and everything so far seems okay, only thing I'm concerned is that my Voltage in HWINFO is going up to 1.381 V on full load, which is concerning, no? Anyway I have yet to run benchmarks, I plan on hitting 4.5 GHZ as temps seem pretty good atm. ( never went above 60'C in prime95)
  13. Sorry for double quoting)) Will do that now. However, do you think I can get a stable overclock odd 4.5 ghz of I'm getting 55 'C max temp atm? [EDIT]: I just ran malwarebytes scan, and as usual I always get the same threat popping up, It's a "Potentially unwanted program" in C:\Users/Myuser/Appdata/Local/Googl...r data\default\secure preferences. It's called PUP.Optonal.Delta.A and everytime I try to remove it it comes back in the exact same location.
  14. 212 evo, I have the latest drive for my bios but it's so old and there's no guides on how to overclock on it. That set aside I can probably get a stable 4.5 ghz OC
  15. Indeed u have integrated graphics I think, but my old gpu was getting normal cpu usage on arma 3. What do you think the problem really is? I don't think the card is at fault, it can't be since it works perfectly in shadow of mordor. But arma 3 us kinda fucked atm though, I don't know what to make of it. Please keep following this topic, I'm going to bed. ( may your framrate be high, and your tempatures be low....and your bottleneck be non EXISTANT I guess. )
  16. Well, I'm about to go to bed so don't expect a response until tommrow. Anyway, thanks for replying. U doubt it's Malware since i reinstalled windows not long ago on my ssd. However my ram speed is set to 1300 mhz so maybe that has a role? Sometimes windows does automatically change my theme to basic saying I'm using to much memory to.
  17. I'm thinking of just returning my Graphics card right now, I'm sure 99% it's not the GPU's fault, however I'm kinda feeling like i wasted my money you know? All it gave me thus far was headaches in gta 5.
  18. Hey, how you doing? So I benchmarked shadow of mordor and arma 3 today, unfortunately that's the only games I have installed atm. Shadow of Morder was doing flawless, GPU usage was right up there never dipping below the 90's and cpu usage was averaging between 50-80-90 percent. HOWEVER there was a problem in arma 3, big one. I used the Geforce recommended settings for it and GPU AND CPU usage were both in mid 30's, every now and then going to 70 percent but fps was shit as garbage. I was running the highest settings I could get on SOM and was getting a rock solid 60 FPS, it was like heaven. [EDIT]: I also noticed today that my CPU usage was set to low on task manager on GTA 5, so I turned that up to high and it helped the FPS dips, not by a ton though. I also noticed that the GPU usage at night time goes up on my GPU in gta, resulting in no more frame dips, but in daylight the gpu usage spikes between 80% and 40% while the cpu usage is almost always at 100%. [EDIT 2]: I also forgot to mention that I turned up my power limit on MSI afterburner all the way up, I wonder if that will help anything..."Shrugs"
  19. I find it to be terrible tbh, I already used it but all it gave me is a result of 30 fps which is apparently optimal. I already went through the settings twice and configured them accordingly using the nvidia gta v guide on their website.
  20. Lol thanks man, I will test out some games and get back to you tonight as I'm not at home atm. Please keep an eye on this thread later on..
  21. Seriously, call me an asshole but I don't really understand why people keep saying this game is so optimised, either my luck with PC's is rubbish or this games optimisation is really just hyped up.
  22. Well i found that turning down grass quality solves that for the most part.
