Beeeyeee reacted to Donut417 in Best Modem (not router?)
CM600, SB6183, or about any Docsis 3.1 modem will do. Stay away from 32 channel Docsis 3.0 modems like the SB6190 and CM700 because they have the Intel Puma 6 chip in them and are defective.
Id probably be more inclined to get the CM600 which is about $90 on Amazon right now. Its a 24x8 modem and should be able to handle about every speed tier besides Gigabit.

Is the pricing different or is it back to pre order pricing or retail pricing?

the typical ones use Sata data and Sata power ports, just like any hard drive.
but newer m.2 SSD's use m.2 slots located on the motherboard; though you can use PCI-e extention cards to use them there if your motherboard doesn't have an m.2 slot

Bose. I have been using Bose Companion 5 speakers for a LONG time and have never had a problem and wouldn't use any other speakers now that these have been tried and tested over a long period of time.

Loving how easy it is to bring this around. It fits absolutely perfectly inside a Pelican 1495.

So I was talking to a co-worker, who also plays games on PC. I was, and still am trying to sell my 980ti (which is freaking impossible right now by the way) when he mentioned he just bought a new computer. I was like, oh really? what do you have in it? He says, oh man its a $4500 PC I built myself, Its got an intel PCU (yes he said PCU not CPU) a Nvidia (not an Nvidia, a Nvivia) and some RAM... he then proceeds to walk away while I realise he totally just bought one from a store that was way overpriced for what he needed.... poor unfortunate soul. I would have loved to build that thing,

5th week of Sentry manufacturing process
This probably won't surprise you, but we are still waiting for some key elements like risers, rubber feet or even carton boxes of every kind (some of them are currently kept by customs services, who are waiting for some documents from our suppliers). We also wanted to start moving into our newly rented premises from the 1st of April, but since it is weekend, we will have to wait until Monday.
This time we received some bigger packages:
-new transport foams (our current warehouse is almost full
-internal power cables,
- laser engraved aluminium labels (nameplates),
- samples of Sentry simplified quick start manual,
We are almost at the finish-line with the most of the ordered elements. We hope next week we will have all of the needed parts so we will be able to start the assembling process.
As a bonus to this update, below you can find some photos showing Demciflex filters installed in/on Sentry:

Beeeyeee reacted to MedievalMatt in Is buying used hard drives worth it?
As someone who inadvertently purchased refurbbed used datacenter enterprise drives. STAY AWAY FROM USED HDDs AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. They all failed, 6 * 2TB WD enterprise grade drives, within 9 months. platters stopped spinning. bought them from Newegg thinking they were new (because no where on the newegg page did it say otherwise) but the 2000 day power on time in SMART said otherwise. So be careful buying HDDs in general

the 1070 should be fine but your problem is going to be CPU cooler height. I highly recommend a non-k skew or even a low power skew. CPU performance these days doesn't matter nearly as much as it used to. As long as its 4 cores and 3+ Ghtz it'll run anything

Beeeyeee reacted to Mr_KoKa in [Java] What Loop do I use?
You have semicolon after while's condition so the loop has no body and block under that is meant to be that loop's body is not, it just executes as it is outside the loop.

480 4 gb is the same card as the 480 8gb just less vram while 1060 3gb is a buffed up 1050ti. the rx 480 8gb is getting better i would highly suggest that over a 1060.
