  1. Bro, lemme explain it to you : Whatever the tools you give to a kid, that's not the point. What you gotta understand, is that learning and education require specific processes, and our actual education system is based on incremental improvements over decades/centuries/... Just giving a kid the exact same education, weither it's on a computer, in books, orally, ... Doesn't really influentate the kid's future. Now what I'm thinking, it's that computers, books, oral, teachers ... Can only reach a limit when teaching to a kid, and that computer can raise this ceilling over other methods. But it requires long-term planning, devellopment of educationnal programs, tutorings, ... And especially a higher ceiling of the education given itself. Long story short : if you spend 10 years teaching 1+1 = 2 to a kid, he'll have as good results weither he learnt on a computer or from a teacher with 30 years of experience. Now, if you accumulate the knowledges, stats, referencing and feedbacks on a teaching method that's 1000% better at collecting them than the others, there you'll have significant results. And you having biased opinions about tablets, like previous generations had about computers, rock-and-roll and others, has nothing to do with the efficiency of new methods.
  2. Ty for the quick answers. Bulk rename utility works but not for encoder "tags in the name" or other things. Meanwhile, Plex can find and display the name (on a tv) but doesn't change the movie's name in the folders. I'm still hoping in an all-in-one-doing-it-fast thingy, but ty
  3. Hello everyone. My problem is that I have quite a collection of movies, series, animes and music. So since I bought a new tv, I use Plex to view them. But the issue is there are tons of unneeded "infos" in the names, like the encoder, or simply dots in their name. I would want to rename them in batch. I tried Media Companion and another one (can't recall coz uninstalled), it seems to find the infos concerning most movies and download arts or tags, but it just doesn't batch rename them (needa do it one by one). TL;DR : Need to find a program that analyzes a folder full of media (music/movies/series), that would collect the infos (on IMDB for instance) then batch rename all without wasting hours clicking or precising things. TYYYYYYYY
  4. The problem will remain : price of the stockage >_< God, even if I pay for an "unlimited download" plan from my ISP (+10€/month), then I'll have to buy high capacity SSDs (or even pci-e SSDs, coz yeah, HDD will piss me off, taking hours to copy uhd bluerays). Let's say I get 100 uhd bluray movies, that would prolly require in between 2teras (20gigs/movies) and 10teras (100 gigs/movie). Aka in Europe, between 1 to 5 samsung sata SSD of 2 teras, thus from 800€ up to 4000€ ... And that would still be cheaper and more convenient than buying the proper UHD bluerays in shops, because the price per movie would be in between 8 and 40€ each in SSD stockage. TL;DR : We'll prolly have to buy dozens of NASes just to full them off many cheap/low capacity SSDs, only to keep an average hoarder collection. Heck, maybe it'd be cheaper to purchase several E-ATX 2011v3 motherboards, just for getting the most PCI-E/m.2 + sata ports per machine... All that is an evil manipulation from the computer industry just to sell us more machine in the next years!
  5. Hello there, I'm from Belgium, I wanna buy a decent UHD tv, but I'm completely lost. It's just I can't find e-shops and real shops to sort the screens to get what I want (if it's possible). They just give irrelevant infos to me, like 1200 hz, and most resellers don't even understand my language and are unhelpful to me. I've read most of topics here and other sites, as well as some reviews like http://www.anandtech.com/show/9342/4k-htpc-hisense-tv that told me to look for : HDMI 2.0a HDCP 2.2 4Kp60 4:2:0 at all component resolutions 4Kp60 4:2:2 at 12b and 4:4:4 at 8b component resolutions Audio Return Channel (ARC) So long story short, what I would want : - UHD - able to accept 4k 60fps signals (would love to connect it to my computer) - 50" - 55" size would be the sweet spot, but larger is okay if price doesn t explode - 4/4/4 chroma, or 4/2/2? I don't know exactly what I should be looking for, I would love to know your opinion about chroma (and future blue-rays uhd), HDR, and how can it be used through a gtx 980ti? - possibly in the 500-1500€ range? - what about ARC and content protection schemes? I would hate it being unable to view uhd blue rays - 3D capable (but optionnal) - "decent" input lag/latency and firmware, just so I can play a bit and not deal with awfully slow menus. - decent support (but optionnal, if I buy a chinese screen I'd let it go obv, it's just I'd rather go for a well known mark) I also don't know much about how and where to purchase (like the hisense seemed a US-only trade). Ty for reading, I would love your inputs!
  6. It also can fly, by the look of it, a single fan cooling two fijis ... It's over 9000! ... (RPM)
  7. Ty ^^ IMHO 980ti won't be as good as TiX. First it's 8.33% worse than TiX. Secondly, it has half the memory(won't allow the upload of some hi-res textures), and i'll guess a share of it will be way slower (tho not that noticeable, just pointing it out). Thirdly, custom made 980tis will cost as much as TiX's. Or like 50 dollars less. Just coz PCB and the shit. Imho, go for TiX, watercool it later (or look at the MAYBE hybrid cooling that is maybe coming) then sell it when 10XX is out
  8. Just think that Titan X is available now and its specs are awesome. If that's not enough, think that AMD is kinda disappointing each time. (delay, exagerated perfs, poor drivers). Add to that the fact a Titan X will always sell back better (proportionnally) than anything coming from AMD.
  9. hard to run that much panels ... why don't u look over asrock extreme 11
  10. Yeah but couldn't they use 1GB ram chips instead of the 500M ones they used in the titan X? From what I understood, ROPs and memory controllers are linked ... But they can be tweaked to control more or less VRAM per memory controller? To me, the amount of ROP limited more the bandwith than the amount of memory controlled ... But not sure.

  12. http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/349061-issue-with-booting-into-windows/#entry4755595 and my own topic too saying similar things ... Maybe windows update?
  13. Yeah I did install windows update and I was kinda considering that as a possibility, but Microsoft would have patched or we'd have seen news about that
  14. Let's extrapolate from the actual situations : "What if bitcoin was costing more to produce than its worth" The answer is simple : people would still produce it, coz bitcoin would be a market for people that wants a share of their wallet hidden for specific activities, coz some would be lured in fast profits till a bubble explodes, and coz some other would be coming at it after being advertised (second handedly) a lot by the people that build the machines or infrastructure sporting bitcoins.
