  1. surely linus knows it is a slow boot time? If so many people are flogging it
  2. That is hibernation not cold start, also a laptop is very optimized to work with the rest of it's hardware
  3. So I watched the recent personal rig update 2015 on Vessel, and Linus, with his Intel 750 series PCIE ssd 32gb ram and 5960x, takes 44seconds to boot windows 10 My rig has a Windows 7 (Newer OS's are meant to boot quicker too) HD 5850 Core 2 Quad Q8400 4gb Ram Zotac 9300 ITX and the SSD is a pretty ghetto pcie style one and came out of my dead asus ux21 zenbook it is 128gb and the model is an Adata XM11. I bought a $20 adapter off of ebay so I could run it through SATA. Another thing to note is the fact that it is only running in Sata 2 mode because that is all the MOBO supports. Why did my drive which essentially cost $20 smoke a $1200 high tech new ssd? Maybe it was the fact that the MOBO has to initialize all of Linus's cards? Let me know what you think
  4. I am not sure if this is in the right subforum but it is kinda a deal (only $40!) So I jut backed my first kickstarter project The Remix Mini https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1123481999/remix-mini-the-worlds-first-true-android-pc?ref=nav_search The model I got was the $40 2gb ram 16gb storage model. It runs Remix OS, which was debuted on Remix's microsoft-surface type tablet. The reason I backed this is because... A) It is damn cheap. Even if it is bad quality surely it cant be worse than this http://www.dealsmachine.com/best_186857.html?currency=AUD&gclid=Cj0KEQjwrJ2tBRD13N7T5u7k9I8BEiQA5APAAFz-govxABd1GOKqX3eqs398cxaFfwhxy1W7hJJGYucaAvWL8P8HAQ which i spent more then double on and it turned up DOA. B) Remix has already delivered a device from kickstarter so it makes me more confident that the Remix Mini will turn out well. My question is.... Have you bought one? and would you buy one and if so why / why not?
  5. version 2 something... I am not sure. sorry
  6. I unlocked the bootloader of my sony z3 and when trying to flash any rom it says, (in cwm and twrp) cannot execute bin because this is for d6653 #$%## ##%## and %#%$% but your device is leo. The #%@$@ is other model names. My phone is definately a d6653. Any help!!!!!!?
  7. I am not looking into actually buying this, but I was wondering, for the price of a baseline Mac Pro ($4,400 AUD) what kind of machine could you build? This is what I came up with Keep in mind this is in AUD [url href=http://www.pccasegear.com/sc/vRK]PC Case Gear - Shared Shopping Cart 1 x [url href=http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=31920]MSI X99A SLI Plus Motherboard - $379.00ea 1 x [url href=http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=31807]NZXT Noctis 450 Mid Tower Gaming Case Black - $199.00ea 1 x [url href=http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=28761]Intel Core i7 5960X Extreme Edition - $1,429.00ea 1 x [url href=http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=31005]Apacer Commando APCOM1644D42400C16 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4 - $299.00ea 1 x [url href=http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=25987]Corsair RM-1000 80 Plus Gold Power Supply - $259.00ea 1 x [url href=http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=31654]Kingston HyperX Predator 240GB SSD PCI-Express - $359.00ea 1 x [url href=http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=19554]Seagate Barracuda 2TB ST2000DM001 - $109.00ea 2 x [url href=http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=32272]XFX Radeon R9 390X Double Dissipation 8GB - $599.00ea 1 x [url href=http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=31197]Deepcool Gamer Storm Captain 360 AIO Liquid CPU Cooler - $149.00ea Total: $4,380.00 - @pccasegear.com 01/07/2015 The theme was red and black, and since most people buying a Mac Pro would be doing professional work, I chose a dual 390x setup as that seems to be the most recommended unless you wanted to step up to a firepro. Also it would be able to do some gaming aswell. So I am pretty sure the Mac Pro got crushed, which leaves me wondering.... aside from size (and some people would worry about building their own pc) why would you buy it?
  8. So I have just started taking photos with my Olympus C2040z (It is old but pretty decent for $15) and I am wondering.... A) If I should do post processing on my photos? B ) What program to use? (preferably free) C) Is it worth it to save files in .TIFF instead of .PNG? (TIFF is closer to RAW isn't it?) I have been messing around with GIMP a bit and asides from drawing a penis on stuff I haven't gone very far in terms of improving the image..... Hope somebody can help!
  9. Sorry this doesnt answer the question, but I am just about to buy a Nikon 3300D, and it seams to have great reviews, did you enjoy it? Do you think I should buy it as a novice photographer or is their something better in that price range?
  10. Sorry if I get anything wrong, I am a novice photographer I was on Ebay the other day and noticed a bunch of older digital cameras for sale for cheap (under $20) and most of them were point and shoot, but I did notice some larger cameras. I ended up buying an Olympus C2040z for $32 including shipping (keep in mind that is AUD which sucks right now) Ebay - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/361323663079?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I am just gonna make it short, so here are the pros and cons Pros - Really bright with an aperture of F 1.8 - 1600x1200 is decent for printing - 3x Zoom is also decent - Overall photo quality is quite nice and sharp considering the age - Size is perfect and mine came with a lense cap, case and strap - Good display - I noticed it has different filters, Fancy! Cons - SmartMedia card is A ) Extremely slow when saving TIFF images (1600x1200) B ) Very old, I had to dig up my old laptop to transfer photos - Non standard USB connector is annoying - The viewfinder doesn't actually show what you are taking, making you use the screen - AA batteries are both good and bad, I have rechargeable ones, so it wasn't a problem for me Overall it is a fun camera for some simple shots, and really couldn't have asked for more for $30, plus it looks cool sitting on the shelf Let me know if you would buy an old camera like this!
  11. So I was digging around in the cupboards and found a Bang and Olfusen BeoSound 9000 6 CD tuner. (with speakers) Links http://www.iconic-av.co.uk/manuals/beosound9000_referencebook_english.pdf http://beophile.com/?page_id=294 https://www.google.com.au/search?q=BeoSound+9000+6-CD%2FTuner&oq=BeoSound+9000+6-CD%2FTuner&aqs=chrome..69i57.552j0j7&sourceid=chrome&es_sm=122&ie=UTF-8# I have powered it and it's speakers on, they seem to work but I cannot find the MasterLink cable I need to connect them, can I buy this anwhere? Also are these worth much? And I found the remote, just looking for some AAAs to get it working. Thanks
  12. If you have a 970 then a 1080p or even 1440p monitor is probably a good upgrade. I managed to snag one of these in perfect condition http://www.amazon.com/S2309Wb-Blu-ray-1080p-Widescreen-Monitor/dp/B005R31QBWfor only $10 at a local op shop and it was an amazing upgrade from 1366x768. If you are willing to spend more money 1440p might be worth it but I am not sure because I have not tried that resolution yet.
  13. http://www.amazon.com/Transformer-T300LA-DH51T-Detachable-Touchscreen-Ultrabook/dp/B00EPGHAZ8/?&tag=techiesense05-20 This seems to have good battery life, and has decent specs. what kind of power were you looking for?
  14. Haha no 1080p youtube then, from the looks of that video, not much difference on pc
