  1. Listen, personally if it was me I'd already have made and posted it. but you asked us for our opinion. If it's something YOU feel passionately enough about to share, then if we dont like it nothing is forcing us to watch it and im sure there is a no loss situation .... lol... get at it. but none the less i stand by opinion that no, its something that can be resolved with a simple *GIF (lol) searched on google. but thats just an opinion. its a free forum.
  2. it happens. i too was apparently wrong as pny DOES have 980TI available, but lol im sure we were both referring to EVGA//ASUS =]
  3. Well i think you just answered your own question then. night mate, sleep on it im sure youll agree in the morning.
  4. to not argue, or go to far off topic, the most simple reference i can make is the difference between the blades on a corsair af 120mm and a corsair SP 120 THERE ARE A MILLION FANS im just trying to say he should use a "static pressure fan" of course all fans have some degree of static pressure- i cant believe that was your response. this is a good thread i dont want to troll anymore can we please let this go.
  5. extremely observant. hence why i could not resist the thread lol
  6. what is your gpu? there are usually indexes you can check for temps online, wont be as accurate as if you had the chance to benchmark before your screws snapped. the kraken will totally save your day. I recommend using the fan as a blowing fan or getting a corsair sp120mm pwm fan and letting that pull. Good luck either way. youll learn to love your case =] shes a keeper for sure lol
  7. bitfenix does this for style not accommodation they could simply have flipped the mobo and windowed the opposite door. i have the phenom. most sturdy case i have owned to date out of perhaps 30.
  8. your missing the time it takes to cool something passively vs actively, which is what we are basically discussing. pulling heat off something without a static pressure fan is moot. it doesnt happen. or gpu manufacturers would position the fan either way. however, ALL direct airflow at the pcb.
  9. which way the card is facing and the orientation of the fan has nothing to do with heat rising etc, it has to do with cooling the caps on the pcb you need to cool them directly the are too close to each other and get too hot to dissipate heat on their own therefore you absolutely need to have a fan blowing ONTO THEM. flipping the fan will be removing the ambient air. the fan will only PULL ambient heat off them not actually cool them. HOWEVER i think if you were to use a radiator fan with static pressure blades you might be able to position the fan either way and have good results. honestly though BEFORE you rip the stock cooler off make sure you get some idea of what the card runs for temps idle and at load, and then when you put your new cooling system on you can compare temps with the fan both ways.
  10. regardless of outcome i have to admit i clicked on the thread just because of the initial question i was like: so my input, having ZERO experience cutting a mobo OR pcb. is DO YOU NEED THE MOBO IF IT FAILS? if the answer is NO then cut away sir. with nothing to lose why worry. experimentation is fun and educational. however, if you need this board FOR ANY REASON or would have to spend money to replace it for any reason, then no way dont cut it unless you know from the manufacturer (dell will never tell you crap) just my 2 cents tho, there is likely something in teh middle layers we cant see. dell is super cheap and would likely not have any section of unused pcb or they would just cut it themselves good luck either way
  11. show me where the 980Ti IS available. saudi arabia isnt waiting. its not out yet.
  12. youll be pleasantly surprised w that case. i have built three rigs in that case and it has never let my clients down. great budget case. consider adding "nzxt sentry with mesh" for fan control, it matches the case exceptionally. def go for the 290, even if you have to wait a week or two for funding. worth it. out of two friends one has each gpu respectively. the 290 is just way sexxier than my other friends 280.
  13. your guide would be a single picture that is searchable on google
  14. i have the elgato hd 60 and lets say this IT LAGS. idc what ppl say it LAGS. PERIOD. so i bought an hdmi splitter off amazon for 30 bucks and split the source at the xbox, and send one ffeed to the elgato and the other to the display. seemless and NO lag. powered splitters work better.
  15. go with the recommended magnum. dont hate for the reference but thats what jays 2 cents "skunkworks" is in, and thats a gorgeous machine. im sure linus would approve.
  16. got the air 540 and 240. not a fan of either. both are for sale lol. the 540 is way to asymmetrical and they "say" it can be positioned on its side but then the case feet show and its atrocious. the 240 can be laid down but then it looks like crap NOT laid down. both are GOOD cases but i feel are way overpriced for how lacking they are overall. 540 looks like a commercial printer.
  17. oi waiting for the ROG Poseidon GTX 980 Ti is totally worth it. (i have the money ready for it and the block as soon as it becomes available. when i mentioned this to him he inquired if a third 7970 would be a good investment....... i told him i dont even know lol. i also told him i need the rest of hi specs before i would give a solid response.... knowing in all honesty id just be coming here to relay them when i get them =p patience is rough lol at least hereos and generals is cushy on the gtx760 and runs great LOL
  18. Epic. If you knew this particular kid you might be laughing out loud as you wrote that. haha he is relatively out of it. great kid great friend. thanks everyone for the input so far i really will expedite the matrix purchase and get back to everyone. I was thinking of filming the benchmarking (and obviously tons of editing of boringness lol) but wasnt sure anyone would have any interest so now maybe ill follow through on that. PS i blame linus for this. all his benchmarking has gotten it engrained into my head: MUST BENCH MARK lol like a zombie =] Thanks again everyone so far =]
  19. i almost want to buy IRacing just to use it as its his FAVORITE GAME... and he crawls at 10 fps average. i dont think he overclocks anything. i will absolutely oc everything in my rig, hence the custom loop (obvious?)
  20. you sir are scaring the crud out of me. lol his crossfire must lose for all that is good in the name of intel =] i cant afford the titan black or id just go big HAHA but i gotta strap a bitspower (to match the build) block to the gpu after all is said and done lol but my main goal aside from the benchmark is to LIVE on star citizen for a bit so............ thanks for the input though (and the uneasy feeling) =]
  21. OK I WAS HOPING SOMEONE WOULD GIVE ME THE PUSH LOL ill order the matrix prior. my ego deserves a win after this debacle lol OMG im soooo not telling him to put his bridge on .... im not sure he even owns one (baller) ill totally tell him after the benchmark LOL and thank you for the clarification on the mobo, i wasnt sure but apparently was wayyy off lol guess im solid on the matrix 980 prior to benchmark. thanks for all the info!
  22. Ok everyone. Thanks for reading my post. I hope it inspires some of you guys to start a "war" with someone you know and maybe even share your results here. I recently finished my Smurfette build to completion, and a friend now wants to benchmark against me, in a age old red vs. blue manner, as I am solid Intel and he is solid AMD. I'm NERVOUS, but not skeered in any way. Aside from everything, trash talking included, we are friends so that's the bottom line. So. my rig, having since incurred only minor changes... like top exhaust fans, and relocated the recon next to the psu. My friends rig is wrapped up in a Lanboy Air (yellow) This pic is from about a month ago when I installed the corsair cpu cooler (imo the only thing in the case worth anything, but that is strictly MY opinion) The specs I'm not super sure of, but am pretty sure, and can verify anything befopre the actual "battle". I know the (apu?cpu?idk) is 6 core or 8 core.. he always brags about all these cores I don't have in my Intel builds lol.... For the record, I build pc's quite often, but I don't even research AMD other than gpus for many personal reasons. However, that is an entirely different thread though. So, anyway... MSI??? MOTHERBOARD? CAN BE SEEN IN PIC. CLEARLY SAYS "KILLER" ON IT. THINK IT'S MSI OR GIGABYTE (but it was 90 bucks) 16gb ram (4gb x 4) DUAL asus 7970's 120gb ssd for OS (which is a hacked win 7 copy) 1tb hdd, laying on the floor of the case no name psu I believe at 600w - I will verify prior, and edit Corsair cpu cooler with dual 120mm rad (and corsair link built in .. pretty nifty) Now, I'm 99%sure im getting the ASUS MATRIX GTX 980 within the next week but I'm wondering if its relevant to this little challenge and if I should hold off until I have the matrix and the block etc all installed and good to go. As for "competition" I'll use all the same bench marking stuff Linus uses in the vids. crystal mark, cinebench, etc...and some heat references too( furmark, core dmg)... I mean I did run a custom loop it should count for something against his aio Aside from benchmarks, I plan to run a cpl games we both own with fraps going and see how we each hold up there. I cant go too crazy because his cheapness prevents him from owning real games he usually puts his real money into IRacing and just torrents every other game... (ugh) Also for some reason he prefers to use his monitors via d-sub, uising an adapter from the dvi port.... no comment there, but I'll be running everything off dvi so I hope to show him on some of HIS monitors how much better that looks, as I have not been able to successfully explain it using my half witted words. This is a rather epic event for us as no one else in our circles REALLY have the finances to do anything like this. Our mutual friends are all really eager to see who wins as I spent around double his rig (his was about $900-$1000 whereas mine w/o the matrix is currently at $2200) and he regularly brags to everyone about how he deliberately (and successfully) "out specced all his friends" and "now owns the best pc out of all of us" NORMALLY I WOULDN'T CARE ABOUT SUCH COMMENTS... but admittedly it is kicking my ego around a bit. When he asked to me to benchmark against him I literally laughed not thinking he was serious. But hey. Maybe Ill get REKT? (PLEASE IMAGINE THE JAMAICAN BOOYA HORN RIGHT THERE AS YOU READ) Also, this particular kid is rather dirty, or filthy I should say, and very cheap. I think that is what makes the comments bothersome. Here is his gaming rig for IRacing, which he uses daily and extensively ...... I told him I wouldn't even sit in the seat, that's how dirty it is. LMFAO! Regardless WE ARE FRIENDS ... I would just like to politely put him in his place if possible LOL OK everyone, I really hope to hear some opinions of what the outcome would be, and WOULD buying the matrix really make a significant impact against two 7970's or should I just remain true to plan and purchase it in a week-ish? Also, I think it would be really interesting if people were bench marking against each other to share the info here, like rig vs rig specs, and bench marked results. I know you can look up individual benchmark results but I am just trying to contribute here with something entertaining so please don't beat me up too much.
  23. a cosmos is a pc case, well a rather large pc case i should say... OH AND i died when i posted on the LTT forum with out reading the CoC. IT WAS MURDER
  24. the general community up on this forum is so condescending and rude
