Well first you need to decide if you'll go with amd or intel, then decide if you're getting an amd or nvidia card. AMD is cheaper and packs more price for performance, but they only perform so well. I'd say go with intel/nvidia to start with, so when you do decide to upgrade your rig and you're stuck needing an intel cpu, you already have the mobo for it.

agreed with devon, just don't do it, just, don't, and if you do at least do it on a cheap mobo first to make sure you can actually do it right, wouldn't want to break a $400 mobo
