  1. Interesting. Haven't seen that thread before. I'll contact their support to ensure this is still the case and if so, probably give up lol. cheers!
  2. Indeed their support sucks. A few years ago I had an issue where my mobile data would drop out occasionally. I went on their live chat and a very helpful chap told me that the best solution was to move country as it was an issue with allegedly every "uk network".
  3. Can't see why it won't be safe. If you're worried, watch over it for a while if you think anything could happen.
  4. The HDMI output is already occupied. The issue is that I have two monitors and with only one video output on the laptop, only one can be connected. With all additional monitors disconnected, the adaptor still does not work.
  5. The adaptor appears to register as a DisplayPort adaptor. I assume it then converts it to VGA.
  6. Hi, We ordered a USB-c to VGA adaptor for a ASUS GL552VW (specs: https://www.asus.com/uk/Notebooks/ROG-GL552VW/specifications/). When plugged it into the laptop and connected it to the monitor via VGA, a message appeared with the text "Try improving the USB connection" "DisplayPort connection might not work". I tried other cables, I tried other monitors. After this and some googling, we assumed it was faulty and requested a refund. We then ordered another USB-c to VGA adaptor, which is the one we currently have. (link: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B019OL9N5I/ref=sr_ph?ie=UTF8&qid=1465597065&sr=1&keywords=vtin+usb-c+to+vga) Same issue again. ("Try improving the USB connection" "DisplayPort connection might not work".) Tried different cables, different monitors, fiddled with graphics settings, desperately looked for settings in BIOS. All with no luck. Intel HD graphics & NVIDIA drivers are both up-to-date. We have no other computers that we could test the adaptor on to my knowledge. Anyone have any suggestions? Does the laptop even have support for passing video output through USB-c? If I remember correctly, I read somewhere that it did but I'm starting to question it. Help appreciated, -James.
  7. That's perfect. Cheers
  8. Yeah. older USB to VGA adaptors tend to mention somewhere on the internet that it includes its own GPU whereas I haven't found any mention of that for the USB C adaptors.
  9. I'll have a look at that. what I understand from USB to VGA adaptors of previous USB generations is that the graphics processing is done on the actual device, hence there are obvious limitations. Is this still the same for USB C? What I'm reading on the internet implies USB C is capable of simply passing an output from the existing GPU
  10. It does. This USB c adaptor looks decent https://www.amazon.co.uk/StarTech-USB-Type-C-Video-Converter/dp/B00ZR1AETE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1462190522&sr=8-1&keywords=Startech+usb+c+to+vga would you recommend it?
  11. I'll have a look at that cheers
  12. There is no USB version within that link it would appear.
  13. The quality issue on the monitor happens on every device, regardless of the settings.
  14. Yeah. Regardless of the set resolution, the quality still looks grainy and the edges of the image are lost. It's atleast four years old now. Probably not an option.
