Thank you for being patient with me. I had to pause progress so i could get the exodus pc finished in time for their launch and currently working build for DiRT Rally 2.0 giveaway. Once thats finished, I can hopefully (sigh) get back to this project. Personal projects always get halted so I can pay the bills.

I've been hearing from many NZXT owners who share your concern, Yes, you do see a difference in temperatures.  This is why this DIY guide is very popular.

Whatever you decide on doing in terms of either a simple 120mm hole, A 280x140mm long rectangle, a simple pattern like what @Mnpctech does on the Evolv cases, or a fancier design like this NZXT H700 on reddit, anything you decide to do should drastically improve airflow.

Even if you DIY your own version, yoiu're most likely going to find the card itself blocks the rest of the PCI-E slots anyways.

The honestly easier and alternative method to reducing the strain on your GPU is a support bracket. There's a few types. the DIY method which is to jsut put something under the card to hold it up. It can be strictly functional like a cardboard tube, or have an aesthetic purpose like a lego figure.

If you'd rather a custom solution, there's under bracket solutions like the ones @Mnpctech sells here -> https://mnpctech.com/gpu-support-bracket/

You can also get cheap plastic versions on amazon but they're probably not suited for heavy cards.

Fianlly the last option is a adjustable stand from Coolermaster (or others like it)

I've used both the Define C and Define Mini C(I reviewed specifically the Define Mini C in my Purple build, didnt make a review for the Define C). It's the same case but the Mini C is smaller (and as such can only hold 2 120mm fans at the front instead of 3) Everything else is exactly the same and you'd be happy with either, thoguh for space savings i'd probably go with the Define Mini C.

For an added bonus you could always install custom handles to the top of the case @Mnpctech

I'd recommend the bar handles for cheap effectiveness or the Spring loaded ones for compactness.

It's been a lot of fun doing this retro series, it's invited so many cool new online friends! This morning I met Martin, Author or "The Legacy of 3dfx" book on kickstarter. He told me he has over 50 vintage 3dfx video cards in his personal collection! It would be fun to possibly do a 3dfx theme mod with an actual case from same release year as a card.
