  2. Lenovo Legion Y540 had same, CPU temps went around 98, warranty said that "it's OK, because computer is for GaMiNg"... when laptop wasn't even getting a heavy load. Still struggling to get my money back.
  3. Hi, ASUS Z170-P motherboard and i7-6700K CPU, Hyper Evo 212. Windows 10 64bit, 20H2 with all possible updates. Trying my luck once again, long story short: this happened during this spring after update of Win, which later on appeared to have no reason, till this moment it hasn't fixed so I assume it's hardware issue, not software (tried with live usb windows/linux - same results), normal temperatures were on idle CPU/motherboard stock freq around 20 degrees C, on load - around 40 degrees C (max 50-55, not more than that). Now turning PC on and CPU/motherboard temperatures start seemly around 20 degrees C, but they are slowly but surely climbing up to 30 degrees C (both, CPU and Motherboard), trying to turn some programs, playing games causes some spikes up to 55 and stable 35-45 degrees C (motherboard goes up to 30 degrees C (but not more than that)). Main question, what's the problem of all this? PSU, motherboard, CPU, something else? Couple notices: Tried running stress tests, temperatures would seem to be normal, under 75 deg C, but weird thing is that core temps are higher 10 degrees than CPU temp itself and after stopping stress test CPU temp goes ~10 degrees above the hottest core and doesn't go back to normal temps, even on max RPM of the CPU coolers fans. Also noticed that 3.3V rail went to 3.4V, I don't recall it being like that before. PC case clean, paste reapplied.
  4. So I do believe there is noone who would have an idea how overnight temps get +10 degrees and never go back to normal temps.. Extra stuff to consider: - Tried on Linux/Windows, same stuff; - PC has been cleaned, CPU thermal paste has been reapplied; - No previous damage or anything that would cause something abnormal; - CPU doesn't go above 4GHz... BIOS problem? - 3.3V rail is stable 3.4V.. PSU issue? Only thing that comes to my mind is motherboard... But I have no idea what had happened overnight and how to fix it if that's even possible. CPU temps didn't really spike before, now spiking happens, temps are above 30 (yes even tho normal, but they are 10 degrees higher than previous 5 years).. Possible northbridge, vram problems? Huh, was thinking someone would help, now I'm literally in the dead end and my 'ideas' are running out, what's more, the way to fix them...
  5. Checked in BIOS, Asus AI Suite, Aida64... All show the same, all the time.... Regarding BIOS settings everything is by default, no settings have been changed, no overclock, no underclock etc.
  6. Heyo, So yeah I have i7-6700k with Hyper Evo 212 as a cooler on ASUS Z170-P motherboard, everything was going pretty well, but somewhere during the March (when Windows 10 update happened (no idea if this has something to do with this or not, maybe just coinsidence)) temps went up by solid 10 degrees. Previously they were close to 19-20 degrees after turning on and 30 degrees were on mid load on CPU no matter what ambient temp was, motherboard was stable around 20-23 degrees, now CPU goes around 30-33 degrees and motherboard goes close by 30-34 degrees... Stress testing with Aida brings fairly similar max temps as they used to be around 63-64 (package temp), but core temps are higher than package itself and spiking/jumping a lot.. so that's like 30-64 degrees is the working temps, I'm aware that they are normal, but considering that in the past 5 years temps were allways around 20 degrees that worries me that something is going out of order. Main questions: - What could cause this: hardware, software, Windows 10 update? (nothing software wise hasn't changed from my point, nothing installed, uninstalled etc. Windows 10 1909->2004 happened, but that changed nothing, since temps started during 1909 for a solid month or so) - If hardware issue, what could cause this: PSU, motherboard, CPU or anything else? - If software issue, what could cause this: intel microcode, windows 10 update with security mitigations or smth? Currently I'm struggling with these temps for around 3 months, at least it would be nice to know what's the reason of this and if possible to fix it back to good ol' cool temps. Thanks for your help!
  7. Heyo, So I'm having a headache called 'cannot decide which laptop to get'. I'm looking for a laptop that would be 1) fairly cheap (I do live in the Europe so under 500€) 2) kind of bang for the buck 3) suitable for minor gaming or at least multitasking. In depth explanation: 1) Doing some programming on it (Python via Jetbrains Pycharm); 2) Working with MS Office; 3) Playing Oldschool Runescape / Hearthstone at most, no AAA games or too much; 4) Listening music, watching movies etc; 5) Web browsing with multiple tabs etc; 5) Mostly optimal to do everything at the same time if possible Most of the time laptop will be used in the office so won't be on battery, there might be some times to have it for an hour or two of work on battery. I would enjoy having full keyboard with numpad, touchpad should be fairly accurate and easy to handle, monitor itself if possible IPS, even tho I doubt for that price it can be offered. Anyhow waiting for suggestions, recommendations, any explanations, because I'm used to PC workstations, not portable less powerfull laptops, it's hard for me to decide priorities at this point. Thanks for your help and hoping that there will be someone willing to help! Regards
  8. Yes, whole PC has been cleaned before re-applying new thermal paste, including cleaning radiator... First used canned air, in the end with some water going through the gaps (radiator, not the PC itself). Edit (2019-04-12): Liquid Cooler was the problem, changing to air cooler helped going back to normal temps. Will be getting new liquid cooler sooner or later.
  9. Hey, So this is my first time asking someones help to this topic. Long story short got my PC 3 years ago (2015.09): i7-6700K, ASUS Z170-P, Silverstone Tundra TD02-E, Cooler Master PSU and Windows 10 as OS. Everything was fine, CPU temps were below 24 degrees Celsius even at fairly hot days, watching Chrome was basicly having idle temps, while playing basic games maxed at 30-40 and never went above.. That lasted for around 2 years, last year spring was first occurance of weird behaviour. Temperatures started rising above normal temps and started idling around 33 degrees Celsius.. I don't recall what happened, but maybe it fixed itself at that time... Later on I wasn't using PC that much and it was kind of normal... Temps were still idling around 30-33. But everything has changed a month ago. Temperatures went above and above, thought that changing thermal paste will change something, but it happens that it was temporary fix or just lucky coinsidence.. Now using Chrome, Word/Adobe is causing various temperature jumps got higher and higher... Today I've tried downloading BL1 Enchanced, CPU had load ~60% and temperatures were spiking above 80 degrees Celsius... Even with AIDA64 CPU stress they didn't go above 75 (checked couple weeks ago). Copper block above CPU is really hot and water seems to be hot inside as well.. After some time it either cools itself or cooler starts properly cooling I have no idea, but temps went back ~35 degrees Celsius, but considering that it spikes really fast and fairly high for a kind of basic tasks worries me a lot, couldn't use PC for past month or so... Main question, what's causing all this? Is this some kind of Liquid coolers malfunction or something related to CPU or OS? i7-6700K - stock speeds Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut as thermal paste Silverstone Tundra TD02-E - pump connected straight to PSU, Mounted in front with fron fan and two fans from cooler combined ASUS Z170-P - everything by default (optimised defaults) Windows 10 1809 latest updates and everything Coolers pump should be working, tried unplugging it once, well as expected temperatures started climbing... Plugging it back again started lowering temperatures... I'm really worried that it wouldn't be CPU damage from nowhere, since I've never tried OC'ing it till this day lol. Regards and hoping that you guys might help me! ♥
