  1. I have tried almost every combo in that bios section for PCI subsystem settings. Several just end up in a boot loop. The rest still result in PCIe v4.0 despite setting to Gen 3. WTF
  2. Is it possible that my GPU's vBIOS (Pulled from a Dell) might not be compatible with Gen 3? Because I have set those settings and nothing changes it to Gen 3 in GPU-Z or HWiNFO. If I install a 2000 series gpu the system works just fine in Gen 3.
  3. I just checked GPU-Z says currently running at PCIE x16 4.0. I can't figure out which BIOS setting forces Gen 3 so far.
  4. I'm getting crashes due to my 3080 running in PCIE Gen 4 (11700k). I've tested a Gen 3 GPU with no crashes. Then tested the 3080 in other PC with no crashes. How do I force PCIE Gen 3 in BIOS? I tried setting PEG0 and PEG1 to Gen 3 with no luck, HWiNFO says the GPU is still running in Gen 4.
  5. I've got a 905p U.2 in an isolated storage compartment (Alienware Area 51 Case). Intel recommends "Airflow across the drive to provide cooling, such as a front fan and rear fan", but do you think it's really necessary in an isolated compartment? I mean do these things need cooling even without any extra heat sources? I found this: "the upper operating temperature range has been expanded from 70c to 85c"
  6. Thx. The RAM will be covered on mine since I'm installing an H80i v2 (wider) + the push/pull. But the RAM isn't touching anything, there's clearance.
  7. Agreed lol. So would you recommend I just keep it there with the push/pull?
  8. I'm using these fans ML120 PRO 120mm. Here are the case internals. (Minus the Liquid cooled GPU's)
  9. I was under the impression it helps move some extra air off the DIMMs/GPU. Well my case (Area 51) has limited mounting options, and this is the arrangement it ships with. Not sure of any other options. I would but since my case (Area 51) has limited mounting options and due to dust filtering issues, it seems like a no go.
  10. Hi, I'm planning on installing my AIO with push/pull (like pictured below except I have two DIMM slots on each side of the CPU), BUT this setup would completely cover my DIMMs on the left side of the CPU. Would you recommend using 1 fan instead to avoid any DIMM coverage? Thanks!!!!!!!
  11. 1) I have a rear 120mm AIO (CPU) exhaust. Does it make much difference which side of the rad the fan is on? 2) Would this push/pull setup be OK? Inside Fan (pushing through) on CPU header (PWM) Outside Fan (directly exhausting) at fixed low speed
  12. Is it possible their 3200MHz Dual Channel option, is 2 identical Dual Channel kits running together in Quad Channel?
  13. But why are they advertising this: If it sheds any light on the matter, I have an Area 51 Threadripper atm, with only 4 DIMM slots and it shows running in Quad Channel.
  14. But this Skylake X system only has 4 DIMM slots total. Can they make their motherboard run Quad Channel with only 4 DIMM slots? Dellianware doesn't list detailed motherboard specs for this high end system. What a joke.
  15. I wonder why they offer: "64GB (4 Sticks) Dual Channel at 3200MHz". What gives? lol
  16. Must be that they're offering cheaper 3200MHz RAM then. Thanks guys!
  17. This is for an Alienware Area-51 R7 Intel X299. Their order configs suggest supporting 2933MHz in Quad Channel and 3200MHz in Dual Channel. Is it possible their cheap motherboard is limiting Quad Channel to 2933MHz?
  18. Any idea which set would win most of the time without any overclocking/BIOS adjustments?
  19. Thx! If you wouldn't mind, could you recommend a quality splitter?
  20. Hey there, What would you recommend to connect 3x 3 Pin Fans (NF-A12X15 FLX) to a single Molex Power Connector? Or if you have any other ideas of how to easily connect 3 fans to power, please share. Thanks!!! My Planned Cooling Setup: 3x Fixed RPM (Case Fans) 2x PWM (AIO Corsair Firmware Controlled)
  21. Are you saying I should just leave the fan on default to maybe prolong the life of the card or something?
  22. Not sure if it's supported on a reference (FE). Maybe it won't even make an audible difference, who knows...
  23. Hi! Is it safe or advisable to disable the fan below a certain temp (50c or so) on a 1080 FE? What would you recommend to set the custom fan curve, MSI Afterburner? I know many aftermarket cards do this by default, but I'm not sure if it's safe on a reference card. Thanks for any insight!
  24. Hey bro's, I'm building my first video editing rig and trying to decide between a single larger SSD (Samsung 950 Pro) or a smaller 950 with separate scratch disk (Samsung 850 Pro). Here's the break down: 512GB Samsung 950 Pro (OS & Apps/Scratch) 6TB HDD (Media) vs 256GB Samsung 950 Pro (OS & Apps) 256GB Samsung 850 Pro (Scratch) 6TB HDD (Media) What would you do? The 512GB 950 Pro is about the same cost of the 256GB 950 Pro and 256GB 850 Pro. Will having the separate drive really help video editing performance that much? Thx Bro's!
