This is primarily for gaming/home use and no real plans to overclock it right now nor use dual graphics cards.
As a new builder, I’ve tinkered and upgraded for years, just never really built one from scratch. The power supply is the most confusing aspect of the build IMO. Estimating wattage and future proofing (as far as DDR3 goes atleast), I’ve seen a lot of information that too much wattage is bad for the components, OR that it doesn’t affect anything if it is too high, there's alot of contradicting information out there, I just wanted some opinions on this build; keep in mind there has been a budget on it as living in the UK automatically doesn’t make me a filthy rich tea drinker.
Is the power supply for the rig below a good choice, or should I lean lower or higher?
MOBO: ASUS Sabertooth Z97 Mark 1
CPU: I5 4690k (3.5GHz)
CPU COOLER: H100i (with SP120’s)
GPU: ASUS GTX760 2GB
RAM: 16GB Kingston HyperX DDR3 (1600) - Taken from my current build so they'll be a manky blue
HDD: WD 1 TB Black
SSD: 840 EVO 500GB
POWER: Corsair RM750 (80+ gold fully modular)
CASE: C70 Black with 4 AF120’s
GPU will be upgraded this year hopefully, to a 970strix/whatever overpriced nonsense is released at the end of the year, but currently my system is outdated for even a 760, as my current mobo only has a PCI-E 2 slot still, which is why I’m upgrading everything else.
I avoided going for an X99 because the price of DDR4 ram made me die a little inside.
Any advice/comments on the build are appreciated.
