  1. You can even force a type of cooperative rendering on the 750ti I have done literally that, im trying to dig up the software... ist just awful boost, like... 20% or less.
  2. There are 3rd party tools for DX11 and earlier to force SLI on cards that do not support it, even in driver, even without a bridge, etc. Its just not worth it for the performance boost unless you just have the cards laying around for some other unrelated reason. Also we have gotten way off topic.
  3. There are tools to force cards to SLI,even cards that are not the same, or cards that do not normally SLI... But keep in mind you wont have a SLI bridge, and if you mismatch cards it will use the lowest specs between them to force cooperation. Also you can even force mismatched brands to work togather BUT it will basicly just use 1 card + the vram of the second card. And its using the PCIE buss to convey that ram's storage so performance improvement is minimal if not none. DX12 on the other hand will have its own multi-gpu support but details on that are unknown Ill google around and see If i can find those 3rd party tools again. its been a few years... But your probably better off with 2x 900 series m cards.
  4. http://www.eurocom.com/ec/main()ec sells alot of MXM cards direct, even for non-eurocom systems. Their store matches computers to parts though... So if you wanted to test out the card in a system without the quadro on its compatibility list you will probly have to put in a special request with customer service.
  5. PS: I'm not saying the channels should start some kind of crusade on behalf of GT80 owners... Im just saying if they could give a mention that this is going on in their podcast... Any GT80 owners in the audience are going to perk up, realize this is going on, and spread the word. Yeah if you buy some random HP from bestbuy you wont remember what model it is... But when you drop 3000-4000usd on a laptop, you will never forget "I own a GT80" so they will notice.
  6. Actually I was talking about this with a friend of mine saying how great a tech channel would be for laptops only for exactly this reason. Personally, I am not a huge laptop fan. But there is a huge need for this kind of content and I would be happy to do it except.... I dont have the income to just go buy laptops and review them... even if I immediately flipped them on ebay for only a minor cost. Even these big youtube channels like linus and jayz generally either have the ultra high end stuff they review sent out as review samples or donated to them.... And without making a name for yourself first... its very difficult to just... drop constantly high dollar amounts to buy and resell laptops for review. Most channels wont pay 1200 bucks to play around with a titan that is out of pocket... A laptop review channel would spend a lot more than that... On every single laptop x.x. Maby some day in the future if there is still no channel and I start making a little more income I will think about it... I just can't right now.
  7. They do have a 4k version now, so it would make sense for that.... Also the power delivery issue has to do with the new NVlink instead of MXM3 so while MSI may have lots of problems... this one was made a problem by NVIDIA and MSI is stuck in the middle. The question is... Did MSI make this MXM decision based on promises made by NVIDIA, or, did they develop it in a vaccume and just end up eating their words. Either way for people like me who have no way of using a desktop this laptop is sort of a best case scenario. Granted, my life is weird. And im not really that upset because i got my GT80 half off, so I win with or without upgrades compared to other laptops in the same price range. BUT I don't like to see them trying to hide behind a 2 month application window for the ability to upgrade in the future. That's why I made this post... I also tweeted it out to the other tech news youtubers (ncix, awesomesauce, newegg, jayztwo, barnacles, etc. Because if they are going to do this where you have to send a form in... Someone needs to get the word out to owners... Because MSI isn't.
  8. Also considering their documentation says that its a "Trade In Upgrade Program" It could be awful, we don't know what the deal "is" but it could be like "Give us your laptop, and we will let you have a new one at X price" where X could be a large number. Also this still only covers people who talk to them BEFORE October... If I had not discovered this completely on accident I would have gone looking for an upgrade to Nvidia 11 series GPU's and found out "oh well like 2 years ago you didn't fill out the proper form and now your in trouble" Hopefully Linus will check this post out and mention this on the wan show. I know the GT80 is a premium product very few people own (I'm lucky I got mine half off) but the word about this needs to be spread so that owners know about it. Especially since Linus him self said in multiple videos (the one above + the one at computex 2015) that 2 generations of GPU are supposed to be available, I would think he would want to go on record stating that has changed. Since many people (my self included) were turned onto this laptop through his coverage of it.
  9. Somehow this doubleposted delete me if you can.
  10. They haven't done anything official yet... So far they have just said "Email us and we will get back to you when we figure out what to do" Also only US residents, and Only people before the deadline, and GT70 owners are not included... So its not that great... but then again... we have no details.
  11. MSI has made it clear that their upgrade-able SLI laptops will NOT be able to upgrade to PASCAL based MXM cards due to changes in the MXM format for Pascal. Im talking about this laptop here: They however are offering a TBD upgrade option but only for GT80 and GT72 owners who email them BEFORE October 31 2016 you can see the MSI official post here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/official-msi-news-events-and-all-things-msi.795144/#post-10326272 The link to the PDF is broken or spotty at best so you can either call and have them email it to you 1 877 387 6866 Or use my link http://www.naveronasis.com/MSI/MSI GT Trade In Uppgrade program.pdf and email it to usgttradein@msi.com NO ADDITIONAL INFORMATION IS AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. Details on the trade in program have not been revealed at this point in time. I will keep this post up to date. UPDATE 1: This issue effects all MXM3 laptops like those from Eurotec, Asus, and others. However to my knowlege, MSI is the only one that offered the promise of an upgrade path, and to my knowledge, is the only on that is offering any hope for current owners. UPDATE 2: A MSI rep said an answer would be coming "Soon" (About halfway down the linked thread page) http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/gt72-gt72s-and-gt80-gt80s-owners-gpu-upgrade-discussion.795236/page-39 UPDATE 3: There have been a lot of conflicting reports from MSI customer support on the topic... OPINION WARNING This is some personal speculation here, but I would speculate that MSI customer support does not actually know, and they are just repeating things they have heard or speculated themselves based on past company policy and at this time I would not consider any of MSI customer support statements to be fact at this point in time. Just wait for the official response.
  12. Im trying to find a set top box to stream netflix/hulu/youtube but I also want one with a coax in that can tune over the air digital (in the US if that matters). Anyone know of one?
  13. This seems actually PERFECT for my setup, its def on my wishlist.
  14. Looking to buy a GS30, 40, 32, or any other GS that can use the dock... and I also need to buy the dock... But I'm in Canada and I can't seem to find anywhere to buy them both
  15. IT LIVES! it took.... a century to actually post... it kept running tests (sabretooth x99 it loves to test) BUT IT LIVES Which is great because the fluid inside was not non-conductive... Also rajintek offered to send me a new cooling system... except that IDK how i feel since its the same one and its been pretty clearly documented from many users that it has.... issues.... with cracking on its own. but who knows maby i can take it apart and use the radiator and tubes on another project vOv it will be some time before i know if the CPU is still stable but for now... it posts.... which in its own right is a miracle!
  16. Here are the rest of the images.... First, the offending crack. Mind you this was in a horizontal case with 7 inches of head room, so there was basicly only tube weight on this res. Very minimal load. Here we can see inside is also cracking around the pump, that scum you see isnt growth, its glue, I think the glue expanded and cracked the plastic from the inside out... Spreading over time. By the way this liquid has always looked somewhat brownish but under UV light it looks normal. I cant explain it. Here we can see on the front siide, even more cracking around the front. Some research has shown many users have experienced similar results in roughly the same amount of operating time 3-12months. Another irritating issue with this cooler is that 1: filling it (comes pre filled) Voids the warranty but the evaporation rate is extremely high. Even before the crack it was evaporating its entire res in about 1-2 months time. Here is the damage (after clean up, You can see here its almost impossible to tell where the water contacted the socket. And finally we can see the CPU also showing minimal damage... if any, with some SLIGHT discoloration on a few pins, only visible in high light at an angle, straight on there is no visual indication of any incident. Im still concerned that there will be damage... However im hopeful since I have read and watched videos of people recover computers from far worse incidents.
  17. So far my method was to put it on its side (since its a horizontal case) with the wet side down, blow out as much air as possible with a can of air... clear water residue (since there was no standing water) with a paper towel until that was no longer sufficient... Then qtips, then I took a tiny microfiber cloth and pinched it in some super fine needle nose pliers and wiped more. Then let it dry with a fan on it for several hours and repeated the drying process again....... I have no cooling fan to replace the water cooling loop with until I can afford a replacement... So no need to test it yet. then to put it on its side (since its a horizontal case) with the wet side down, with a fan on it for several hours... Still working on photos... Cant find a suitable USB cable to plug my phone in mostly due to breakfast and coffee keeping me from looking.
  18. Okay so I had a rajintek triton water cooler where the water block is part of the res, pictured below, in a horizontal case.... The thing is along the left side where the connectors... connect... it developed a crack in the side wall below them. Now understand this system was not under any kind of pressure, or ever moved, it developed this crack on its own so I'm going to recommend that you avoid this cooler... That being said the leak appears to have been slow, about 20% of the pins on my 2011 5930x processor were exposed and the motherboard still flashes its bios and turns on (albeit with a cpu code) this was of course before I discovered the leak dont be stupid and power your system on wet. Anyway... It looks like minimal water got into the pins and excessive air cleaner and paper towling, and q-tips, and and and etc. The bottom of the processor and socket still appear like new... so no corrosion or build up minerals or any of the other things ive seen in leak pictures on cpu's. Ill upload pictures later once I get this laptop fully operational. Anyway what im saying is.... I feel like there is a narrow chance I survived without any serious damage but I have no cooler so in the meantime I figured I would share some pics and take bets on if you think its going to be okay or not! Here is a pic of when it was fully operational.
  19. Im sure between what they have on hand and the local scrapyard they can come up with the consumer chips
  20. Consumer Grade: (I would do the video on these) 875k -> 2700k -> 3770k -> 4770k -> 6770k Enthusiast Grade: (worth mentioning) 975 -> 990x -> 3970x -> 4960x -> 5960x -> 6960x (coming soon) Yay wikipedia! *edit made formatting less retarded* *edit2 made 2 lists, 1 for normal i7's and 1 for enthusiast sockets because /reasons*
  21. What was the SKU before the 2770... I think there was at least 1-2 i7's before that but I'm pretty sure it wasn't a 1770... Seems like the kind of thing I should be able to google >.> if I wasn't so damn lazy.
  22. It would still be fun to do a video about it though
  23. Now that its been.... well a while. It would be cool to see some kind of.... I7 benchmark video... but not just... I7 6770. But do a fun benchmark between all the I7 generations (except maby the 5xxx x99 series since they really arent real I7's) so grab like.... a (I don't remember all the sku's so bare with me) 1770 2770 3770 4770 and 6770 and see how they compare after all the years in modern games (I know they don't all use the same socket or ram etc but you know, do your best to keep it in the ballpark as Im sure you will :D) My inspiration for this video was a friend of mine who is not super tech-savvy was trying to build an air cooled computer and carry it around ALOT (3-7+ times a week moved) I told him to probly grab an older 4770 because of the whole PCB thickness issue, cost, and since he is not the kind of guy who is likely to flash the bios (to patch the bug in 6xxx series chips (yes I know this is probably not critical)) that he would be better off with the older chip since there is not a huge hypothetical difference in overall performance aside from video processing etc. Since he is mostly a gamer. But it got me thinking.... from what I understand there really have not been huggggge changes in performance at least since the 3770k from what I understand so it would be fun to see practical benchmarks comparing them all both in games, and maybe in some rendering/cpu heavy tasks as well to really compare just for fun.
  24. I would love to win this, all my peripherals are pretty much on their last legs I would be most interested however in the headset since it is wireless. I have never had a wireless headset and I would like to try one out some day
  25. That certainly open's up my options But still... then what headphones do I get?
