    Update No.13
My lucky number, and final update!

    Hello my friends!

In this update, I am proud to present to you the posting of the Redefine project, and the final photoshoot of this beastly machine. I am very happy and sad to see this project complete as I have had a blast working with this chassis, all the products and various materials. I cannot say that everything went problem free though as I had some driver issues and software problems to deal with which took 3 days of my life, wasted on trying to get this system up and running.

I am happy to report that everything is now working perfectly, and I have installed Windows 10 Preview and played a few rounds of Battlefield Hardline.! BTW if anyone wants to have a match on BF4 or BFH please add me at metallicacid_01

But before I get on with the image onslaught, I would like to take this moment to thank my sponsors who have giving their time and products to make this project come to life. Without your support, I would not be able to create these projects that I love to create! Thank you to:

I really hope that you all have enjoyed this projects' build log, and the finished resulting PC. It has been a pleasure working on the chassis, and having all of you joining me once again in creating another custom project!

For those of you wanting to know what is next, I have a few projects in the works, and hope to start with a personal HTPC project right away. Once I have some more confirmed information, I will set up a build log and inform you all where you can find me

That is it for now, and thank you for following. I hope to see you again in the next project!!

    Kind regards,

Oh, well. That's unfortunate. I had intended to purchase two 970s and SLI them for use in a video production rig. I guess I'll have to wait for a bit before I make my purchases. Thanks for posting this, you probably saved me a lot of hassle and possibly a fair amount of money too.

I also have an issue with my Strix 970 but its kind of a good problem.

No matter how hard I try OCing and stressing it, I can't seem to get is past 60 degrees C.
Even weirder after OC to 1475 and 8010 and playing AC Unity on Ultra High temp fell to 55 degrees.

My guess is that something wrong with sensors since I have Auto Fan speed at like 40% or something - havn't touched that.

Hey Guys! After patiently waiting for the past few months for Galax's GTX 980 Hall of Fame cards to come out, my all White & Black X99 themed build has finally been completed! This build  is aimed to be as "elegant" , clean, quiet , and aesthetically pleasing as possible. As far as what I'm going to be using this build for is high - end 1440p 144hz gaming at Ultra settings on my RoG Swift, as well as video editing and rendering work Im currently working on in College. Anyways I really hope you guys enjoy this build just as much as I do! Cheers!

Thank you both for your help. I do not use streaming services. I am a student and I already have 2 monitors so I can imagine how documents work. As for gaming, I am now sure it's gonna be fine, coz let's face it: I don't play telltale games and I don't really watch the cutscenes (unless I can't skip or if it's actually interesting) so I should be fine. Since I'm saving up and it's not like there's a deal or what not, I might as well buy the $200 more 29" version. Thank you all for your help. You people are awesome and it's really nice having people like you. If there's ANYTHING I can do in return, just ask and I will see. I am really thankful so much. It really means a lot to me, especially because I have very little experience in this section (I only educated myself in computers 3 months ago when I decided to build one).

I have had my LG 29" 21:9 for a couple of months now, and based on that I'll say that there is acutely much better game then movie support for this aspect ratio.

Why do I say this? It's an 21:9 display, movies are in 21:9 - its a perfect match, right? WRONG.. or kind of. If you are using services like netflix, HBO etc. etc. your not gonna get that 21:9 experience. They stream almost all movies in 16:9 with hardcoded black bars  . Your gonna need a optical media (or pirate) to get the most out of your display, sadly.

In games however, Skyrim is the only game that I have had big issues with, most games just let you play, and the 21:9 aspect ratio gives you a bit more immersive feel. I would recommend that you get a 29" model, I think that you would find the 25" model a bit small, especially in hight.

So the other night I sent them(Phantom Glass) a quick email asking if and when they would release a screen protector for the LG G3. Not expecting a solid response I continued on with my day. So this morning my phone goes off and I look at the preview of the email and from what it said I almost didn't even read the whole thing (not realizing who it's from). I ended up deciding to read it and and to my surprise. They were happy that I reached forward to contact them to inquired about it. In return they offered to send me a free sample!!!

Sorry for large image size but can't do anything on mobile and G3s 1440pness doesn't help

So I got it! And I really Like it! Some friends told me to wait for 2560x1440p models to come out but I don't want these models cause it's porbably gonna be very expensive. I adjusted every settings according to tom's hardware review (cause who am i not to follow a professionnal monitor reviewer). Furthermore, I read on Newegg that a lot of perople got dead pixels, I did some tests and I was happy to see that I don't have any dead pixels! The size is perfect for me (so I realized that the lg 31UM95 was WAY too big) and it fits perfectly on my desk, having enough space to put my rig behind the monitor. I am going to add a stand or something like that since I'm planing to build a new system and this entire new system will be on the stand behind th monitor. I get it by what you mean by a kinda cheap build quality but it doesn't really bother me since I got it for a VERY good price (365$) and I won't really touch the monitor's frame since it's in an ideal location. The only thing I kinda miss from my old TN panel was the fast 2 ms response time, but i would rather have an IPS display aover a fast TN any day. Color reproduction is very good, actually awesome, and I get it why Linus always says that he prefers IPS over TN even for gaming. Hopefully I will be able to make another thread for my next build but it is going to take some time since I'm only 16 years old, I don't work and I spent nearly everything I had for this monitor.
Here are some pictures taken from my phone, YES i know they arn't great but still, you can have an Idea.

BTW, ZeferiniX, AOC includes their own splitting software, although I think display fusion is much better!

This is true, there are many ways to rate the performance of a product or brand,  however unless the category distribution is relevant to the discussion, neither will the statistic. E.G  Apple has 4% of the os market and less than 6% of global pc shipments,  This figure cannot be used to determine individual  product performance, but it can be used to understand product in comparison to HP (16.2%) and Lenovo (16.9%).  And by extension if the statistical gap is wide enough in general terms the suitability can also be determined.

    MOARAD...

Silly me, i thought putting a 240mm rad in the front and a 280mm in the roof was going to be just a matter of bolting them in...nope.

Looks simple enough, with the Koolance shroud holding the 280 up, should just bolt in..

I failed to realise that most normal people use a 30mm thick rad in conjunction with the Koolance shroud, giving you ample space below.

With myself being hardly normal, i thought a 45mm thick rad would be awesome, and it is, but then this happens...

Note - Ive already painted the XSPC rad in this pic.

I had the brainstorm of ghetto mounting the fans one mounting hole up, effectively making the radiator mount a bit lower.

Unfortunately, with the fans in place, the radiator lines up perfectly with a raised section in the floor where the now removed hard drive cages were.

PC Case Gear is always open on my iPad these days

Looks like it's time for surgery again. At first, i wanted to have the fitting at the top when the radiator was mounted, so i cut this first.

After mounting both the radiators back in, it was clear that the larger end tank with the fittings was going to have to live at the bottom.

Both radiators mounted back in and we have plenty of room now.

Note that the 240 is mounted one hole down in this photo.

But with a modification to the mounting of the Koolance shroud, it bolts up normally now.

I'll take some better photos with both the rads mounted.

    Thanks for looking

    Hi,

First of all, I would like to apologize for any grammatical mistakes, I'm from Quebec so.... Yeah.

This build was actually a project from last summer, I did it and took very few pictures during the process so I didn't bother putting it up here.
But (!), this last couple of weeks, I changed some things from the original build (You eagle-eyed will notice) and then convinced myself to take some pictures and post them.

    Part list :

Case :                  Fractal Design R4 Black Pearl (Window)
      Motherboard :     Asus Maximus VI Hero Z87   CPU :                   Intel 4770k   RAM :                  16GB Corsair Vengeance Pro Red 1866MHZ   GPU :                  Asus 7970 DC II   Power Supply :    Corsair AX860   Fans :                 2 x Scythe Gentle Typhoon AP-15   Case Fans :       1 x Corsair AF140 Quiet Edition + 2 x Phantek 140mm    Heatsink :           Swiftech H220   SSD :                 Samsung 840 Pro 128GB   Hard Drive :       Western Digital Green 3TB (WD30EZRX)  Seagate ST3000DM001   Miscellaneous :  5,25 - 3,5 Adaptor , Corsair's Sleeved Cable AX760 and, also, things.

    Here we go.

Small modifications to these already awesome Gentle Typhoons.
                          Go away white pci bracket...
Sleeving them wasn't enough. I had to... I just had to...           There we go. This should fit the build best.             Early assembly. At the time, I was still waiting for my motherboard.                     Swiftech H220 with shortened tubing and a touch of carbon fiber vinyl wrap.             Ouch... I had to take this chunk out of one of my GT because of the positioning of the 8 pins EPS connector and the layout of the R4. Otherwhise, it wouldn't fit with the radiator and motherboard installed. Not even close.             Still looks great. Right guys? Guys?             Replaced the stock blue power LED for a red one. Little things.       Storage and such.         The making of a cover / ROG logo that will appear in the final form of the build....         Asus HD7970 DCUII. Beast. Even though this card is now "old", it's still a beast and it looks, in my opinion, way better than the newer revisions of R9 280x.                 Triple slot. Because.... why not?!                 So, that's it for the "last summer projet" pictures.

    This is now.

That's alot of cables...                I'm also thinking of buying a custom made glass to replace this window.         There we go. That's pretty much it. With the hand-made ROG logo.                                                                               That's it ...for now.
    Thank you guys.

I think you might miss something really important here.... we are not the average consumers - this hole spec-for-spec discussion is almost completely a wast of time and keyboard lifespan.

As an Apple user myself I can tell you that there is mainly to types of Apple users (not counting fanboys, honestly how cares about them). There is the users who have made an informed decision and knows what they are getting, and then there is the ones that just think that the products are pretty and fancy.

What enthusiast (like us) often don't get is that non of the above users are "the bad one". Both is getting what they are paying for, both gets a great experience out of it. The classes I attend is filled with girls with MacBooks, they don't know anything about the hardware and specs, they just like the computer, and so what? You can argue about the specs all day long, but the bitter truth of it all is that is dos simply not matter to the average end-user. They have a great time, they get stuff done - they are getting what they payed for, the experience, not the specs.

When I look at Apple products and look at their consumer base, you notice a few things.

1.) Their products just flat out work 100% as they were made to. Unlike buying notebooks from some other PC manufacturers, very rarely do hear about Macbooks having overheating problems, bad screens, etc. They are just well thought out and excellently designed products.

2.) Most people who buy Apple products regularly aren't going to know that you can build or buy a PC that's cheaper and variably faster. Most importantly, some don't care at all. People don't buy Macs to play the new "Crisis" or whatever resource intense game is popular.

3.) When you buy a Mac, you have the ability right off the bat to have full native Mac OS support + if you wanted, you could install and run windows and it would still work perfectly.

4.) Apple product consumers get great service from Apple because Apple owns stores, and hires workers that are or at least should be knowledgeable enough to help their customers on the spot. With other manufacturers, you simply don't get that same support. You often will have to talk to the retailer and check your warranties etc.. and most of the time you're still stuck having to ship the unit back to the manufacturer anyway. Apple = A lot less hassle

That being said, I'm not even a Apple fanboi. Not even the slightest LOL. Every computer in the house is running Windows 8.1, never owned an apple product in my life. Not even an iPhone. Windows Phone is where it's at
