  1. It should be on correctly. I thought I was getting higher than normal temps on stock settings with the cooler so I took the cooler off the cpu and reapplied thermal paste to be sure it wasn't a setup error. The fan and pump are plugged in as well.
  2. Hi, I built my pc back in February and haven't had any problems with it. I overclocked my gpu a little with msi afterburner and it works fine. I decided to overclock my processor so I went into the bios and changed some settings. I tried a 4.0 overclock to get started because I've heard that's a low oc and a good place to start. When running prime95 and realtemp I get really high temps. After about 5 minutes my temps get into the 90s (I turn prime95 off once it gets that high). Is there something I'm doing wrong or do I just have a bad overclocker? I have a Coolermaster Seidon 120m on my cpu, two intake fans in the front, an exhaust fan in the top, and my cpu rad is in push in the back (exhaust). Any help is appreciated.
  3. I don't know what was wrong but I pulled the ram out of an old computer I had (it was compatible), tested it to see if it posted (it did), and put everything back together. I don't know what was wrong before (possibly just the absence of memory) but it powers on now and boots into bios. Thanks for the help.

  5. I'm pretty sure the psu works. I did what you said and I could hear it turn on.
  6. That's just it. I can't see any indication that my system is getting power. Not sure if that's because of the ram though.
  7. Hi, I'm working on building my first computer and I have everything assembled except the ram because thats the only thing that hasn't come in yet. Everything is plugged in correctly (as far as I can tell) but when I try to power my computer on nothing happens. I do have a mobo speaker plugged in and that is not making any noises. Also, when I plug my psu in and turn it on it doesn't make any noise and the fan stays off. Any help is very much appreciated. Thank you.
  8. I'm going to go with an EVGA 80+ Bronze 600w psu, barring any problems. The Amazon link is below, if anyone wants to see the psu. Thank you for the suggestions, although I don't plan to ever run crossfire with dual 290s. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EON40CS/?tag=teksynd-20
  9. I am planning on building a computer with a z97 mobo, core-i5 4690k, and a single msi Radeon r9 290 Twin Frozr card. I was planning on using an Antec 550w power supply for this build (I plan on overclocking at some point) but someone recommended my psu be at least 700w. Any suggestions on the wattage I should get? I know the r9 290 can be a beast when it comes to power consumption. Thanks.
  10. I was going to get that but it supposedly has a terrible cooler that everyone hates. Djdwosk97 said it in this thread. Thanks for the suggestion but I've heard too much bad about it. I'm probably going to get the msi one because it comes in red (which is the color I'm going with for my build) and msi is ok with the buyer taking it apart so long as it is put back together properly.
  11. I plan on staying away from video editing and just doing gaming and other school work. Thank you to everyone for all the feedback.
  12. Hi, I'm looking to do my first pc build which I want for gaming. I'm getting the AMD Radeon r9 290 (not the 290x) so I picked out the Intel i5-4690k to go along with it. I am thinking of buying this processor so I can overlock a little (which I have never done before) and so it can keep up with my graphics card. I was considering getting the newest Pentium so I could get into overlocking with a cheaper processor but I was afraid it would bottleneck the gpu. I've heard the i5s are a good match for the gpu I have and I would prefer a quad core processor over a dual core one. If anyone has any feedback to this match it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  13. I've heard major complaints that the Asus cooler doesn't do a halfway decent job. It's between the XFX double dissipation and the Sapphire version now, which are both the same price as the Asus one. Since the Sapphire one has 3 fans instead of the 2 on the XFX I think I'm going to go with that one but please let me know if you think otherwise. Thank you for the feedback on the Asus one.
