What's Your Favorite Web Browser?
marcuswhite replied to Leviathan the Serpent's topic in Operating Systems
Chrome, since Firefox is slow for me, don't know why and could never fix it -
It depends really, it could be the walls of your house preventing the wifi signal to be optimal. Also, if you live where there are many wireless devices (like neighbors that have wifi routers/modems) they might be interfering with yours. You could try a different channel setting that usually helps with locations where there are a lot of wifi signals.

Recently built a WHS2011 for media and windows backup but I also have virtual machine that runs Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS, mainly to run ssh sftp vpn munin test websites. It really depends on what you need, you should look into what you want to run on your server (like media storage backups etc...) then you can figure out which os suits you the best. Also unix systems take a bit of work to get working correctly

Building my first gaming computer
marcuswhite replied to marcuswhite's topic in New Builds and Planning
Thanks for the quick response from everyone, I forgot to mention why I choose the Z87 pro board, I needed wifi, my router is connected to my WHS 2011 machine and the modem in the basement. Are there any issues with on-board motherboard wifi? I'm really tempted by the AMD Graphics cards too, they do come with some games :D For a monitor about 200$, just anything 1080p will be fine -
1. Budget & Location 1500$ in Canada will probably purchase in mid July 2. Aim Playing games, mostly FPS / ActionRPG, no video editing or computational intensive tasks. 3. Monitors Will start out with 1 and in the future add a 2nd one only for FSX. 1080p around 19 inches, nothing beyond 24 inches. I do need some suggestions for a monitor. 4. Peripherals Will need a mechanical keyboard only. OS will be Windows 7 64bit 5. Why are you upgrading? It's a new build since I don't have a gaming desktop 6. Other requirements? Mostly quiet. No SLI in the future, but do plan to overclock the CPU. Could I get away with a 550W PSU?
