  1. Getting a last-minute entry in here... I'd like an SSD because after building my first desktop, which included an SSD, my laptop feels pretty slow in comparison. I'd love to freshen it up with a new SSD!
  2. Is WAN Show CES edition with all the tech YouTubers going to be a thing again in 2016? That was my first time checking out the show and I've watched every episode since, often live.
  3. You did a nice job on your video, but logan wasn't just trolling - the limit for entries really is 30 seconds.
  4. I don't get why people complain about how Linus treats people. He's clearly just comfortable with Wheels and jokes around with him by fake-insulting him, something that's super common amongst friends. Is that somehow just a Canadian thing? In any case, surely this is not the first time Wheels has encountered this behaviour and he would not have shown up if didn't still like Linus.
  5. Interesting. I knew that iOS and OS X were getting rolled into one, but wasn't aware that Safari was a part of this as well. Doesn't affect me personally as I don't use Safari nor do I develop extensions for it, but I can see this being discouraging for people who just want to make some free extensions. I think one important aspect of it is that the iOS and Mac dev program fees were always pretty justifiable as you could pretty easily get a return on investment in the store. For people who only make Safari extensions, I can't really see this making a whole lot of sense.
  6. The SFX and SFX-L definitely seem to be the best options for my needs; thanks a lot everyone!
  7. Oh wow, that much extra space might just be worth the extra dollars. Just one more dumb question and I'll be done: will the sfx have sufficient outputs to connect everything I listed (CPU, GPU, motherboard, hard drive, 2 ssds and cooler)? I ask only because there don't seem to be enough ports on the back judging by pictures I found on an online store.
  8. Thanks for such quick responses, both of you. The B2 appears like quite the bargain, especially with NCIX's mail-in rebate offer. Will probably go with that.
  9. Hey guys. I posted here a while ago about a build I was planning, and a few people were pretty helpful, but a few things have changed in my plans and I am now in the middle of buying parts for an over-clocked hackintosh workstation/gaming PC hybrid, and the only thing I'm lost on is what power supply I should get. As such, it would be super helpful if someone could give one or two specific suggestions to power supplies that would work for my build, given the following considerations. I was inspired by Linus+Luke's compact 18-core Xeon + Titan X build, and so I ordered the same Silverstone SG13 case and a hackintosh-certified mini-ITX board to go along with it, the GA-Z79N-WIFI. CPU will be a 4790K cooled by an H80i, GPU will be a 980 Ti. I plan to use two SSDs (one for OSX and apps, one for Windows and games) and one 2-4 TB hard drive. I gather from research on the Internet that I will need at least 600W, but that's about all I know. What I'm going for here is a power supply that is as physically small as possible (to fit in my tiny case) for as little money as possible (but still from a solid OEM), that is modular (I can't really afford to have unnecessary wires taking up space in the case), that will provide adequate power to all my components, and provide headroom for overclocking the CPU for sure and maybe the GPU as well. Anyone have suggestions? Thanks, and hope this isn't too annoying!
  10. I don't hold the transition against LMG as I am a big fan of their content, and so long as they continue putting out great content I will support them, whether it's on Vessel or YouTube. That said, personally, I dislike the Vessel's UI and I think there's still a lot of work to be done until the user experience for the viewer is on par with YouTube. But I think Vessel is a really good thing, primarily for the competition it will provide for YouTube; perhaps it will even prompt Google to sweeten the pot for creators to get them off of Vessel.

  12. Haha, "LOL there's no link there." The little editing quirks like that in LMG videos are the best.
  13. If you ever decide that you need more advanced functionality then Audacity can give you, I'd highly recommend giving Reaper a try. I don't work for them or anything, it's just a great piece of software and I've pretty much exclusively used it for recording, editing, and mixing music for the last three+ years. Paid software, but unlimited free trial.
  14. So I went ahead and registered over at PCPartPicker, and it seems I, uh, underestimated the price slightly:  PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor ($368.32 @ TigerDirect Canada) Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD3H ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($148.95 @ Vuugo) Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport XT 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($334.99 @ Amazon Canada) Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($159.99 @ Memory Express) Storage: Seagate Barracuda 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($114.98 @ DirectCanada) Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 980 4GB Superclocked ACX 2.0 Video Card (2-Way SLI) ($626.96 @ DirectCanada) Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 980 4GB Superclocked ACX 2.0 Video Card (2-Way SLI) ($626.96 @ DirectCanada) Case: NZXT H440 (White/Black) ATX Mid Tower Case ($139.98 @ Newegg Canada) Power Supply: Corsair RM 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($119.95 @ Vuugo) Monitor: Acer K272HULbmiidp 60Hz 27.0" Monitor ($469.98 @ Newegg Canada) Monitor: Acer K272HULbmiidp 60Hz 27.0" Monitor ($469.98 @ Newegg Canada) Other: Apple Wireless Keyboard - English (USA) ($75.00) Other: Dell P2715Q Ultrahd 4K 27in IPS 3840X2160 9MS 2M:1 HDMI DP MHL USB LED Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor ($729.99) Other: Magic Trackpad ($75.00) Total: $4461.03 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-01-25 00:24 EST-0500 Apart from the outrageous price, anyone see any potential problems with this build? Particularly with respect to cooling/physical space in the case/power/compatibility? Also, if anything seems super-overkill for what I need or there's something that could be swapped with something more cost-effective (that's still compatible with hackintoshing), let me know. Since the $4000+ price tag is of course very intimidating, the following is probably what I'll initially go for (provided there are no problems with what I listed above), as it's the bare minimum to get this all working. Then, I can continue to add the other stuff gradually, as I'm able to. One 980 instead of two, 2x8GB RAM instead of 4x8, no additional monitors (will just use the 1080p one I have already for the time being), and no 3 TB HD, will just use a couple 500 GB HDs I have laying around. Can someone verify that the RAM is actually the same product, just half as many sticks? I think that's the case but I don't know.
