The 3060 is not that much of an upgrade.
IMO you should get used 3080 at least or go all the way at least to 4070.... if you absolutely have to get NVIDIA card.

I can't recommend anything with 8GB of VRAM for modern games.

And if you're willing to go AMD then RX 6700 XT at least or go up to RX 6800 XT / RX 7800 XT depending on which one is cheaper.

Why would you spend that much money on AM4?
If you're going to throw over 200€ just on a motherboard then you may as well just go AM5.

Ryzen 9 7900 (non X) is more efficient and on par with 5950X and costs the same.

And avoid Corsair Vengeance if you can, many people have issues with it on Ryzen. At least on AM4, idk if they managed to make it work better on AM5.

You don't typically run your phone screen ON for many hours daily with static content on it. It's very different use case.

That's an okay price but since it's blower prepare for it to be very loud and hot (assuming it works fine).

The Corsair XENEON has burn-in waranty as far as I'm aware.
That said, how likely you'll get burn-in is soooo much dependent on how you use the monitor. Also what kind of OLED panel it has, how high brightness you use, etc... there is no single metric for this. Only time will show.
Also Linus uses a lot of static content, mainly desktop windows. It's not really a good use case for OLED.

You'll be probably fine for years if you only run games and movies. But then again, if a game has a lot of static content like crosshair, UI elements, etc... and you play it all the time then it's basically the same as a desktop static content and it will get burn-in.

WereCat reacted to porina in Heatsinks' TDPs can be trusted?
CPU TDP is the cooling required to guarantee you get base clock. The CPU at stock can use more power than TDP. Better cooler means possibly better boost clocks. AMD 65W TDP CPUs are typically set to 88W PPT limit.

AMD CPUs have a relatively high power density. Moving the heat away from the silicon is difficult. If it can't be move efficiently from the CPU to the cooler, having a better cooler might not help as much as expected. This is not a new problem.

Having said that, I would not expect any half decent cooler to struggle with this particular CPU. Try using monitoring software and observing what the actual power usage is. Temps should drop rapidly when CPU returns to idle after load, but not necessarily all the way back to minimums.

WereCat reacted to Levent in Heatsinks' TDPs can be trusted?
I don’t because it’s mostly due to how shit AMD and Intel’s definition of TDP is. Common sense is the only thing I use when I am buying coolers.

WereCat reacted to ColonelSupremePizza in Apparently, you can copyright troll anything with your voice
So, I got to work this morning, got my coffee, and was looking for something to listen to on YouTube while I get started with my day and saw this.

This dude was a masterclass in trolling in a more wholesome way and he uploads sparsely. However, the point of this isn't his content, it's what someone is actively doing to his channel.

Some dude that was in one of his videos decided to start up a Soundcloud, upload his voice, and then use that as hard evidence to YouTube as clear copyright infringement. Unfortunately, this came with a strike to Daniel, but the concerning part is how easily you can manipulate the copyright system these days. We have all seen the massive amount of false DMCA or copyright claims made against people before, but this is taking things to a new level.

    Why should people care?

Here's an example: I could be streaming a game and be talking to someone. That person can then decide to issue a copyright claim on me while streaming because, valid or not, they claim their voice is copyrighted. This could also have an effect on VODs where some people can copyright claim videos with popular people in them, or conversely allow a popular person to smack down any video with their voice in it. This would mean that Asmongold could copyright strike any video in which someone is listening to him speak in the background, which I doubt he ever would in the first place.

Obviously, this is primarily due to automated systems sucking the unwashed balls of the universe, but this sort of chicanery just makes people not want to share content and is yet another avenue of abuse.

WereCat got a reaction from Middcore in Which AMD CPU to use?
If most of your work is GPU accelerated then you may as well pick the better CPU for gaming like 7800X3D
If most of your work relies on CPU multi-threaded performance then stick with 7900 or 7950.

It's true, to a surprising degree. My PowerEdge R730XD dropped its idle power consumption by about 30 watts when I swapped the 1100w power supply for a 750w. (It idles a little under 200 watts on average.) I might even be able to get away with a 495w in the thing.

PSU effects it a lot because most PSUs have quite bad efficiency under 10% load.

In most cases, you probably won't need to upgrade your PSU, since even RX 6700 XT can work at 500W PSU
But just to make sure, could you share PSU on your system as well?
