I was never a huge fan of Battle Royale games but, I'm kinda enjoying Apex legends, I have no idea what I'm doing yet but, I'm having fun with it.
it's a lot less stressful than PUBG and, it doesn't have building spam like Fortnite so, it's been a pretty good time so far.

I've actually gotten close to winning by getting some high tier loot and, of course, some massive carrying.

This kit has 5000MHz CL18 as an XMP profile that's 100% stable for daily usage.
    It's a prototype? Pre-production sample? Not confirmed.
    Its Micron E-Die.
While Micron claims their E-Die is rated up to 1.5V this kit with XMP enabled runs at 1.55V.

This is quite insane kit if you ask me.
I still haven't got into overclocking my RAM as its a very time consuming endeavour but this makes me excited because I have 4 sticks of Micron E-Die that run in quad rank configuration.

I only did a really dirty OC in the past  to 3600MHz CL14 just to see if I boot and I not only did boot but it also passed the quick Aida64 memory performance benchmark where I scored over 60,000MB/s on Copy speeda which is almost exactly as much as Der8auer got with his 5000MHz kit.
But he got quite a substantial performance penalty since he can't run that in 1:1 mode.

Hey guys - just decided to dust off my spare linux box and play around with it while it installs some updates 😃 Of course, this PC won't be around for much longer, seeing that Project Personal Datacentre aims to replace this (along with other PCs I have) with a single server. Currently on Manjaro, so I can get used to it when the time comes for me to work with it regularly. So far, not that difficult for me to navigate around and do basic tasks. This is possibly the longest I have kept a Linux install to date  Can't say that about Elementary OS or any other distros I used to play with. May toy around with Terminal in a bit, if I have time.

On an unrelated note, I can't test my Tesla K10's for basic functionality until the server gets here, since the only spare PSU I have lacks the PCIe power cables I need to properly power a single K10  I guess I'll be waiting for the moment of truth when everything's finally sitting in my house. Living on the edge, huh?...

In case anyone is wondering, Minecraft modpack development is still active. We need people to test the latest available versions, so we can work out any bugs/oddities in the next version (coming in October). If you want, you can also test it in multiplayer as well (since we need people to help troubleshoot that).

I thought I'd be soured by all the waiting and hassle but nope, she is beautiful and I love her!

Luckily, everything was working properly and, the seller was nice enough to include a space key and a clicky switch under it. ❤️
Maybe the experts can tell me what kind of switch this is but, my best guess is that it's a Kailh box heavy blue.

Here's how she looks like all dressed up and pretty:

    Here are my first impressions:

The case was a bit darker than I thought it would be but, it still looks great so, I'm not complaining.
The cream switches and these sushi keycaps feel amazing to type on compared to my previous keeb and, guess what? No typos with the with the creams!

I already know that I'll need to swap these stabs because some of them are a little wonky and that I'll need to investigate some tactile switches because now I'm really curious about them.

This probably sounds crazy, but if I could, I'd arrange my bedroom so that I'd have the following:
a day-bed (bed that converts into a couch) a bookshelf (books - duh) a closet for my clothes a bag for my toiletries a powerstrip to charge mobile devices  The rest of the space would be filled up with server racks and PC equipment. Because reasons :3

Official Project Personal Datacentre Build for 2020/2021...

Okay - there's a new option for if I can't get the LGA2011-0 Xeons (E5-2600 v2's) on the table. It's cheap, scalable, and works with a lot of parts that I already own (including a pair of LGA1567 Xeons that I got for under 20 USD). The only downsides are that I can't use 3.5-inch HDDs with it, and that it's from HP/HPE. @Ithanul summoning you for your opinion on this machine - while it appears to be much better than the last option I saw from them (especially for under 300 USD barebones), still may have other issues to contend with. Yes, it's a server - I can handle the noise. Currently a part of Project Datacentre Evolution...

Project New Client is still active, but will probably be on the back-burner until I finish this build, seeing that I could have this done for under 2k USD - which could expedite this build. Also am ignoring Google Stadia and other, similar services altogether if this gets to an acceptable state by the end of the year (2020). The software configuration details I posted last time have changed significantly:
VMware Linux Appliance (for managing and monitoring ESXi 6.5) Windows Server 2016 Datacentre (Simple DNSCrypt cache/resolver, SoftEther VPN, TightVNC, NTP/sNTP, Deluge [torrent ingest], etc.) MacOS Server El Capitan/Mojave (Google Drive sync *, MEGA file sync *, VNC, Plex Media Server, XMPP, iTunes, DaVinci Resolve, software development, etc.) Anarchy Linux (NextCloud, OpenSSH, strongSwan, X2Go, DNSCrypt, CUPS, Android backups, F@H, BOINC, CGG toolchain, Deluge [torrent seeding] etc.) Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB/LTSC (VM for front-end tasks - TightVNC, LBRY, GOG/Steam, OBS, SVP4 Pro/Handbrake, Moonlight Streaming, etc.) Game Server Container (for when I want to host a temporary multiplayer server. OS and general config can vary) ** Deployment Container (for when new software packages need to be tested before deployment) ** ** Temporary VMs with dynamic configuration and no long-term persistence
    *  Temporary task that will be replaced by a permanent, self-hosted solution
^  Shared task - not statically restricted to one container/VM

On the other hand, there are certain tools that all VMs will possibly be equipped with. Some of those tools include:
SyncThing OTP-based 2FA client  Malwarebytes (Free edition) Bitdefender AV (Free edition)

I think the following distribution of resources should work:
VMware NIX Appliance   :: 24/7 - true,   dedicatedHDD -  true, dedicatedGPU -  false,  2c/4t + 4GB Deployment  Container  :: 24/7 - false,  dedicatedHDD - false,  dedicatedGPU - false,  nonpersistent  Game Server Container  :: 24/7 - false, dedicatedHDD - false,  dedicatedGPU - false,  nonpersistent Windows  Server  2016   :: 24/7 - true,   dedicatedHDD - true,  dedicatedGPU -  false,  4c/8t + 8GB Anarchy OS/Arch Linux :: 24/7 - true,   dedicatedHDD - true,   dedicatedGPU - true,   8c/16t + 16GB Mac OS  X - El Capitan   :: 24/7 - false,  dedicatedHDD - true,  dedicatedGPU -  true,   8c/16t + 16GB Windows 10 Enterprise  :: 24/7 - false,  dedicatedHDD - true,  dedicatedGPU -  true,   12c/24t + 20GB A small amount of thin provisioning/overbooking (RAM only) won't hurt, as long as I don't try using more than one 12-core VM at a time (there's no need to - just pause and switch). ESXi itself is usually run from a USB thumbdrive, so no harm done. MacOS and Linux would have gotten Radeon/FirePro (ie., Rx Vega 64), for best compatibility and stability, but market forces have prevented this. Windows Server 2016 can have the server's on-board audio. Windows 10 gets the Audigy Rx and whatever GPU I can give it (the GTX 1060 6GB). The MacOS and Linux VMs get whatever audio the Tesla K10's/GRID K2's provide (either that or a software solution). The whole purpose behind NextCloud is to phase out the use of Google Drive/Photos, iCloud, Box.com, and other externally-hosted cloud services (Mega can stay though). The reason for why I'm doing this.

For those of you who are wondering, the VMware Appliance, Windows Server, and Anarchy Linux would be the only VMs running 24/7. Windows 10, MacOS, and the Containers will be put to sleep until they are needed (Wake on LAN). I can also just remote access the vSphere web interface if necessary, but I'd rather not resort to that.

Still deciding whether to do Minecraft modpack development on Windows 10, Anarchy, or MacOS...
