WereCat reacted to porina in DLSS 3.0 Lock BYPASSED? DLSS 3.0 on an RTX 2070?
If anything I think the name is the most questionable part and already we've seen some confusion on it. DLSS 3 makes it sound like a direct successor to DLSS 2 and DLSS 1. I guess if you view DLSS 3 as a superset of DLSS 2, maybe. But DLSS 3 seems to be a different toggle that could be used without DLSS 2 if someone wanted to. Maybe something like DLSS-X2 would be more descriptive, and keeps the door open if a future version might triple (-X3) the fps. But it is what it is.

Wait a sec, I just realised, if you went with my system above, you'd end up with DLSS 2 X2. Can I get a job on the USB naming group? 😄

If it's 50% more FPS in total then that means the non-interpolated FPS actually went down by 25% then doubled with interpolation so you may get significant input lag.
If you were at 60FPS base and with DLSS3 you're at 90 that means you're getting input lag from 45FPS at 22.22ms (without other factors) vs 60FPS at 16.66ms (without other factors).

It is a tradeoff somebody may not care about at all. I think they should still make this an option and call it DLSS2+ instead while DLSS3 will give the full experience with not that many downsides.

As always. NVIDIA wants to hook people with their new exclusive features to their newest and shiniest cards.

Want DLSS3? Want AV1 encoding? Well, 4080 is for youuuuu! It does not matter that you can get the same performance for cheaper with 3000 series... you will miss out on these new features that are barely usable now because of little to no adoption! Get it now and enjoy the full potential of DLSS3 right around a 5000 series launch when we will introduce DLSS4 exclusive just for the 5000 series!

4090 really is a monster though. But I still think than NVIDIA marketing machinery just made it look waaaay better just because the 3090 and 3090ti were so bad when compared vs 3080. 4080 16GB seems like what the 3090/3090ti should have been. Yes, 4090 would be impressive even then but less so.

I was never going to buy 40 series. I am just worried for a few years down the line. Will the 5080/6080 be $1400, $1600, $1800? PC building is turning into a trust fund kid hobby, and quickly at that.

I literally bought my 3080 for $550 on the ADA Lovelace reveal/price hike shock date.

Nothing is going to touch that price/performance for awhile. Idc about used, some people might.

WereCat got a reaction from madcrunch in The power/reliable voltage limited my GPU?
Voltage limit = your card is maxing the max core voltage after its boosted with GPU Boost 3.0. The max default voltage is 1.062V. Unlocked its 1.093V.

IDK what is the power limit for GTX 1070ti, I would guess about 200W. If you max out the slider in MSI Afterburner you should be able to get about 250W.

This has nothing to do with your PSU or 8-pin. These are the hard coded limits into the graphics card BIOS.

Voltage limit is fine. Its easy and normal to hit it.
However, if you're hitting the power limit, I highly recommend you to max out the power slider in MSI Afterburner as every time you hit the power limit, the GPU will momentarily downclock which may result in some significant FPS drops in the 1% and 0.1% lows. Yes, your card will draw a bit more power on avg but only during the spikes, same for temperature.

Having the power limit maxed out just allows the card to use more power if it needs it, it wont make it use max power all the time.

Since you already assumed that I am telling you to go and buy it and that I have doxed you and know your adress... you can expect it to arrive either tomorrow or later.

As for alternatives, if you have NVIDIA card you may want to use FastSync which will add some input latency but the higher the FPS you have, the lower it will be.

Tbh ultra is stupid at 4k. Better off using high graphics which is usually very close visually and hard to tell the difference between that and ultra while also having a big difference in performance. Honestly ultra has made 0 sense at basically any resolution other than when you are so cpu bottlenecked that ultra vs high settings makes no difference on terms of performance.
