I had originally planned to cling into Win7 after upgrading to Ryzen, but after getting an NVMe drive and dealing with some other software compatibility issues in the past I decided to commit the sin of Windows 10. While still planning on using 7 I came across this while I was trying to look for an article I had read somewhere about new improvements of the Win10 scheduler and how it handles threads: i.e. spreading them out more evenly, this taking advantage of the higher core & thread count of Ryzen chips instead of heavily relying on core 0. My question is twofold: first, do/should I need to bother with the solution written in the link or has is since been integrated into either chipset drivers and/or Windows itself? And if anyone can think of something like that article I was looking for (I don't remember which publication it was, just that it was about Ryzen getting a little bit more of an edge along with general performance increases for high core count CPUs as well as it being a big step away from single threaded workflows) could you please link it or point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance
  2. I wasn't worried about if they could be tuned off or not, I figured out how to do that. I was just mainly curious if they have any effect on the sound or the electrical signaling.
  3. I apologise if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find anything by poking around. Do the LEDs on a lot of motherboards that outline the "separated" bit of the PCB for audio actually do anything to help the separation or are they purely for looks? Moreover, if so, would turning them off have a significant effect? Thanks in advance

But may I ask if you could confirm that the PCIe to EPS adapter I ordered and linked in my last reply will work/be safe? I already have it, so just want to make sure I shouldn't return it.   7. Hey, thanks for the help! I can't exactly get to the label easily, as it's mounted with the fan up inside my daily driver ? but it's the original HX850 Blue (80+ Gold) model if that helps. I'm planning on taking it completely apart to dust/clean once I decide to put my new cables in, so I could get it then. I also got some new Molex and SATA power cables, I already have them but haven't installed yet. If I link them would you mind telling me if they're compatible? everything I could find online was misleading... ?   8. When I was younger, a watercooled 290x rig was my dream. And damnit if I'm not stubborn. I really just want to do it because I want to do it. Ya feel? Thank you, thank you, for such a detailed reply. Truly, this is why I love forums. I understand what you said, but I have been pushing 230+ watts running linpack with just a single 8-pin, so I'd like the headroom. Plus I plan on watercooling the VRMs and northbridge of my mobo when I get one That would be great actually! nothing would delight me more that getting ahold of some proper cables, or a PSU that actually matched my red/black system theme ? I just peeled off the blue HX850 sticker from the out-facing side... I'll probably pick one up lightly used, I do just want one for at least a little while. If not a high-binned 8750. And my next build will definitely be a Ryzen or Threadripper one, don't worry Exactly! I got 16gb of 1866mhz DDR3 for $60 back when I built this I'm helping a friend build a new system and that almost exactly what I had suggested. But for me, and my rig codenamed "Diezel," I'll stick with what I've got Thank you all

As in, it would be closer to the correct voltage and power draw of a real eps connector?
  10. I saw one on Amazon earlier but the description led me to believe it was just an adapter for 6-pin PCIe to 8-pin PCIe? I know that even if you can fit or jam an eps into a pcie or vice/versa, you'll probably fry something. Clarify for me? Yeah, one 8-pin main, and a secondary 4-pin I could do that, if I felt like it, but honestly I'm just looking for something plug and play if I can find it ? Probably tbh. But I'm gonna run it until I fry it ?

  12. I think it's just not possible for me to get enough power anymore from the 8-pin alone for the OC I used to be running (5ghz on a fx6300 that is) with everything else plugged in and overclocked as well. I just want to try and distribute it along the rails more evenly

I would rather have it as pulling some more juice from an extra rail would help I think I have to agree with you, which is why I've put off messing with it bc I really don't want to have to hassle with replacing a PSU fan until I take the whole system apart for something ? I have the 20+4-pin, the 8-pin cpu, two 8-pin PCIe running off another rail, not the included connectors, and one SATA cable with all four slots populated
