  1. its probably able to run crysis at lowest settings. these machines are so rare tho that i dont run them too often. moving one around is like moving a priceless painting to me lmao
  2. i love the olivetti machine! i used to have an old olivetti typewriter in blue!
  3. thats probably because (no joke) the boot drive is just dropped in from my friends dads old 2012 machine thats been through like 4 other computers on the same windows 10 install. will just get new many tb's nvme when time allows. didnt know resize needed all those things enabled beforehand.
  4. bios is up to date. gpu drivers up to date. smart access memory set to auto on asus x570 tuf, above 4g decoding enabled and some limit thing set to 43bit (8tb) multiple restarts of trying and its still saying unsupported in amd adrenalin. last driver update i selected to clean install since before i was just stacking drivers for like 2 years. never tried to have resize bar on until now to see if more games can hit my 1440p 144hz refresh cap. but it just doesnt want to show it can be enabled. am i missing something? card is a reference sapphire model i got in like january 2021 why does gpuz say above 4g decode and resize bar are both disabled? i just checked and theyre both clearly set to on/auto and not disabled.
  5. the hdx series is awesome. i got the hdx9000 'Dragon' with its 20inch double hinged display myself. its speakers are unreal. here it is next to the even thiccer Acer Aspire 9810 with also awesome speakers:
  6. i wish i wasnt so late to the powerbook game. all cheap ones are broken and all rare ones are silly not cheap. i had a 1400 years and years ago i got for like $30 when i was in highschool with a super old version of photoshop but it was terribly slow. with no easy upgrading like i could do to old pcs powerbooks just never grew on me.
  7. just a fun question. aside from like oneoffs and prototypes whats the rarest machine you know about or happen to own? here's my picks: the green Voodoo Envy HW:201 is essentially a dual core w/ ddr2 updated version of the already rare Alienware mALX laptop featuring a 20 inch screen and dual nvidia 7950 gtx gpus. i consider it actually usable over a mALX because the mALX is limited to just 2gb of ddr1 ram and a single core cpu. the alienware is already super rare. how did i get the voodoo updated version? ebay, of course! (i know i said 'aside from prototypes or oneoffs', but this this story is just too funny): right at the tail end of the 'HP with VoodooDNA' timeline was the final ever project Rahul Sood did under his old VoodooPC brand, sorta kinda; the legendary Voodoo Firefly 003. it was made to be a portable version of the HP Blackbird 002. it was originally meant to use dual nvidia cards but ati (freshly bought out by amd at the time) just recently developed compatible cards so at the last second Rahul put dual ati cards in it just to force intel and amd to work together lmao. they also put 2 screens in it for some reason. couldnt find the reasoning for that one. supposedly only 12 Voodoo Firefly 003 units were ever made. of which Rahul said he had 2 of them in a video he did at CES 2009. so how did i get one??? lmao ebay. the full story behind the Firefly is found on the old VoodooPC blog site. its through internet archive so it may load slow but trust me its worth a full read! https://web.archive.org/web/20090114211241/http://www.thenextbench.com/t5/Blog/f1r3fly-the-backstory-and-birth-of-a-concept/ba-p/25005#A646 (Hp VoodooDNA Envy 133 to the right, the smol somewhat related unit of a similar time period; interesting machine in its own right, but too bad it sucks lmao) here they are together all cool like here's a classic alienware malx next to the green Envy. you can see they use almost the exact same chassis, just the green one uses updated hardware to be actually usable: any other rare or oddball machines you know of or own, or the story behind them? please share!
  8. when i can get a new power supply for it sure.
  9. unsure on chipset, ram is corsair dominator ddr2 sodimms
  10. i've been collecting computers for a long time, and its always a treat to see a stupid cpu inside a laptop and see the manufacturers try to deal with it lol. this was especially common back in the pentium 4 age where you saw manufacturers like Alienware, Clevo IBM and the like all making absolute monster "laptops" in order to contain the cooling required for them. at least it meant they were large enough to fit a lot of features like dual optical drives or multiple firewire ports. some of my favorite machines in this regard are as follows: Clevo D9T with Pentium4 Clevo D7T with Pentium4 Acer Aspire 1800 With Pentium4 HP/Compaq ZD8000/NX9600/X6000 with Pentium4 Clevo D9C with Core2 Asus C90 with Core2 The cream of the crop though is without a doubt the Clevo D450 series. for some reason its fitted with a PENTIUM D. its not even an insanely massive machine either. how in the world did they do that? any other funny mahcines you can think of that had a cpu they probably shouldnt have?
  11. My channel had the same thing happen to it in the beginning of February. after asking for the youtube help twitter page (beware of scammers and bots on there too), i got a dm from them with all the links i needed, and had my account back in less than 2 days. i had to manually un private all my videos but that only took a little bit of time.
  12. the white one is a mitac 8050, the rest are based off various age clevo machines like the m59ke or the m560a.
  13. in return, i need the screen lid back panel number to repair the busted hinges on my old one. its a near max spec unit but the plastic and hinge gave way on the left side, still need to replace it if anyone has the partnumber or the part outright. thanks and good luck!
  14. this is a very hard part to find for a vintage system. i remember when i was looking for a backlit model to upgrade my system and found it nearly impossible. and in videos i've done its something that gets commented every so often. so here's a topic that should be relatively easy to find in a google search result. If you're looking for this specific vintage part, these part numbers may help you: alienware p/n: MOBL-F17ALIENFXKYPR1 dfe p/n: 9J.N9182.B01 also has stamped number: 80228 01 (unknown) here's an image that may also help in searches: Good luck to all future vintage alienware hunters!
  15. LTT should do videos of the other rare 20in displays of the age! I've got a couple myself. If LTT is interested in doing a video of them, I'd be happy to send them up given enough time. also just uploading pictures because i love sharing cool computers!
  16. i wasnt collecting back when that 08 omen was being talked about. if i was i'm sure i could've worked something out. I've got some holy grail status items regardless so i'm not too fussed about it. the blackbirds are such an odd shape and so heavy theyre like impossible to ship safely without the original padding. i've been posting some repair logs and looks at interesting systems on my Legacy Tech Stories youtube channel if you'd like to see more.
  17. sorry not sorry for topic bump. let's see what we can stir up here. see if you can name them all side note: are there any surviving voodoopc forums or groups on facebook or discord? i'm in a couple but they seem to be the only ones left and more of a general pc focus. fun fact: the floating face omen is from my video. i actually got another one in brand new condition still. heres some neat images of my collection and even some rare adverts for some of the final voodoo machines. neat custom backgrounds too.
  18. I recently got this computer in a trade but it didnt start up. I managed to restore its original OS but i cannot find any model identification numbers. VoodooPC liked to keep their machines looking clean so they almost never had model stickers on them. I know the chassis its based off on is a Clevo M560a. Pentium M cpu and ati radeon x700 gpu.. side note: while i was restoring this machine, i saw one of the craziest features of a laptop ever: active cooling for the palmrest, complete with heatpipe and fin stack!
  19. ive tried two other cpus and none get it to post. i tried the es cpu in another machine and it appears to be working fine. i think it could be a gpu problem but i dont have another clevo based old gpu to test with.
  20. i dont think so, everything else has a date sticker on it. i think the original owner got this cpu as a cheap ebay upgrade to extend its life.
  21. searching for 'intel qadh' and ignoring the numbers does seem to suggest it is a Pentium M 770 ES cpu
  22. if you look at any normal pentium m cpu, it clearly shows the clock speeds and cache on it. the one in my unit is very different.
  23. i know its likely a pentium M, but the exact model is what i'm wondering
