You could always try to add distilled to your current one. I mean a gallon of distilled water is less than a dollar here. That would be the cheapest thing to try.

So, the AIO is almost 5 year old. I bet the pump is near the end of its life.

I would do one of 3 things.

Top off the coolant (you can empty and used distilled or a premixed (no cross metals in that aio).

Replace the pump which also involves recommendation number 1. You can replace it with mcp35x. That pump also has the benefit of having more flow and head pressure due to faster rpms.

Buy a new AIO or Air cooler. (You can get the newest swiftech AIO v3 for 150)

You could also take this as a chance to go full water cooling for a some what cheap price. Below is the estimated cost.

    Mcp35x  $90
    Second radiator $60-100
    GPU block $80-120
    Tubing - $20
    Coolant - $5-20

    So 300ish.

Indeed, I was starting to fear that after recently purchasing the headset which many reviews proclaimed as the best on the market - Plantronics Voyager Focus - just to realize the mic pales in comparison with a much cheaper wired Microsoft headset.

I will do some research on your recommendation, Hyper X Cloud Flight, and one of its direct competitor models I read about, Steelseries Arctis 7. Thanks!

There may be a little bias as this is my favorite headset at the current time.

The Hyper X Cloud Flight is an amazing headset you can find somewhere between $100 and $150. It works wirelessly over USB dongle. The mic is detachable but thanks to the wireless dongle not using Bluetooth but a 2.4 GHz wireless connection it has the best wireless mic quality on the market (from my experience). Honestly, I can't stress how hard it is to find a wireless mic that has a good quality mic, but the Cloud Flight is one of the only two I would recommend with the other being over $200. That alongside the fact that the mic is detachable... You need to look at the mic quality on youtube videos yourself to see how clear it is for a wireless mic. Also if you turn off the lights the headset lasts for over 30+ hours on a single charge.

Main point: Wireless mics all such currently, but thanks to the use of a GHz connection instead of Bluetooth, the Hyper X Cloud Flight is one of the few headsets that can beat this barrier.

The only con I would say it has is the fact that it only comes with an audio connection if you do choose to go wired instead, so you won't be able to use the mic, again only if you choose to switch to wired for any reason.

Yes, i checked and it's still in warranty until September. I guess i'll open an RMA request and see if they indeed identify this as a pump problem.

    Thanks!

Xen0m0rph reacted to porina in Hard system freeze and Memtest86 error with XMP on
I've experienced multiple compatibility problems with higher speed ram (typically 3000+) and different mobos. If you turn XMP off, it'll run at whatever the SPD lets it, typically 2133 or 2400. This is fine and safe, but you're not getting the full performance of the ram you paid for.

I found that newer bios releases for mobo can help, so make sure you're up to date. Advanced uses might involve tweaking voltages but I'm not really experienced enough to guide further. In the end I just got different ram which happened to work better. Lucky dip.

Note I first had this problem on my main rig (Maximus VIII Hero), which started with G.skill Ripjaws 4 3333. Early on I had perhaps one detectable error per week (the software I run on it is memory hungry and comparable to prime95 running 24/7). With successive bios updates it reduced to an error rate of about once a month. Even reducing speed to 3000 didn't eliminate the errors. Replaced it with Ripjaws 5 3200 and there has only been one unexplained error since.

More recently I have Corsair LPX 3000 working fine at XMP in a MSI Z170A Pro Gaming. Move both CPU and ram into an Asus Z170I Gaming Pro, no boot at XMP, unless I drop the block to 2800. I think we have to remember even if the ram is rated for a high speed, the CPU (and mobo) together might not be up to it. Different manufacturers could vary there.

i'm guessing you just have a bad stick, if you're running the sticks at their rated speeds you could RMA, if you're running them over the rated speeds you just tone them back.

what's happening here is that as you increase the speed of the sticks, one of them becomes slightly derpy, and starts throwing out errors. its up to you if you just run them at lower speed, or contact your retailer of choice about the issue.

Xen0m0rph reacted to Deli in Is it a good idea to have a self-contained water-cooled graphics card besides an AIO CPU cooler?
I prefer 2 loops. If you want to change the GPU, you can leave the CPU loop alone. Easier for maintenance. Also, although the pump from H240X is powerful enough to push extra components. Pump speed has to be set higher to provide the flow. If you only have a CPU and a rad, you can set the pump below 2000rpm so it runs silently.

I'm pretty sure you cant plug the hybrid card into the 240 due to the gpu having its own aio it's not just a custom loop in its own. If you wanted to plug the gpu into the 240 then you need a card with a water block meant for a custom loop like the evga hydro copper or you would have to pickup a block from EK or someplace. Also you would not need a bigger res you would just have to add more coolant. Also you would want to add another radiator. Honestly it would be cheaper and easier just to run the evga hybrid on its own and leave the 240x just for your cpu

It would be fine, I would personally prefer having 1 loop, but it's fine.

Temps should be better on CPU in duel loops tho iirc.

well there won't be a 980 ti because all of the cores on the 980 are already unlocked so can't get a ti version but if you want a 990 so badly just get 2 980's

As far as i have heard, no never. there are no 90 series cards like: 790, 890, 990.

    except for the 690

Yep, once I cranked my X5450 up a little bit,my GTX 970 was hitting 100% usage in all games. PCIe version never has quite the impact people expect.
