Okay can you do ipconfig /all and post a photo please, sorry I'm starting to get a bit stumped
-
Okay that is nothing out of the ordinaey do you have any other devices you could test the adapter on? I see no reason for it to not work
-
Try imgr?
-
Run ipconfig in CMD and post a picture here if possible
-
Okay so not a DNS problem, do you have any drivers installed at all?
-
Try a browser if that doesn't work try cmd
-
Both should work if it is a DNS problem

Well, I'm having a problem with my router, and I was wondering if any of you could help me out.
Problem:
-No Network Access (even on Ethernet)
-No Wifi Transmission
My Modem is loading all the lights. However, the "link" light blinks amber when plugged into the router. (Blinks blue with connected to computer)
I cannot access my router through router or the ip through a browser.
I have tried to reset the router multiple times
The router is a few months old
I have Motorola modem and a Belkin router. (Specific model numbers when I return to my home)
My internet is fine if I plug the connection straight into my computer.
Thanks for the help and have a great day!
Could you post a pic of the back of the Belkin as you have it set up currently
-
I am using a Netgear WNCE2001 WiFi to Ethernet adapter to connect my computer to the internet but it is well it's hard to explain. It can connect to the network and discover other computers, but can't connect to computers outside of my home network (like google). I am using AT&T Uverse Internet.
Could be a DNS problem find an internet routable IP and try typing that into your browsers let me know how this goes
-
I just ordered some keystone jacks and I am going to put those on it at both ends to see if there is any broken insulation anywhere else
Okay cool, Well good luck, It would be cool if you could post your findings in this thread

I meant the small reset button not the power button, anyways, asus contact me and here's what they said:
Hello,
You can try a tripple reset, if that doesnt work you can contact your reseller to get a new unit.
A reset is done by,
1. Hold the small button on the back
the router flashes or goes out.
2nd router will now blink, or turn off.
3rd let the router restart.
4. Log into your router by having the
connected with a cable from the router to the computer.
5th you log in, open a web browser
and type 192.168.1.1
6. there you may enter
username and password.
7. username and password is admin, admin.
Once you're inside, you get configurera
router when the router is set up so it should be
function as it should, is it that the
still causes trouble by contacting
dealer and replace it
Best Regards,

I would love to do what your doing here, this is actually beautiful I take my hat off to you sir, as I sai would love to do what your doing well on this scalw, trouble is im 17 and can't even convince my dad (biggest technaphobe) to get a decent router so I'm stick with what I got.
-
Yes that would be causing the issues. If you can try starting again cut off the old end past the damaged insulation and then crimp in a new end, being careful not to damage the insulation
-
yes I know its possible, but even if he did do it it would not give ANY speed improvement at all because his internet speed is not over 1Gbps
Yes and I realize that as I mention in the post

Sounds like a bad connection somewhere.
For $4, everyone should own one of these: http://www.amazon.com/HDE-HDE-H11-Network-Cable-Tester/dp/B000P1OA1O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1421797896&sr=8-1&keywords=rj45+tester&pebp=1421797896133&peasin=B000P1OA1O
Plug one into each side of your run, and if all 8 lights don't blink the issue is in the cabling and not the equipment. ONE time I've had all 8 show as good, but still only had a 100mb connection, re-punching the keystone fixed the issue. Somehow it was a good enough connection to carry voltage for the LED to light, but not enough to send data. Basically, its not perfect and might faily you once or twice, but definitely a time saver overall.
The wiring is the same for Cat 6 and Cat5e, T568B on both ends is the most common, but it doesn't really matter if you build it as a crossover since everything is auto-negotiation anymore.
If your wire is solid, it was never meant to have a RJ45 put on it, solid is for keystones and punch blocks. I've seen issues where the pins will push off to the side rather than pierce the solid wire and have a failed connection.
I'd start with re-crimping everything if you don't have a tester. Not even new RJ45s, simply put the existing ones in your crimper and hit it a few times and it may solve the issue with little work. If that doesn't work start replacing RJ45s, but a tester would really save you time as you could narrow it down to two connectors rather than re-doing them all.
Yeah what he said

No it does not.
Adding more connections makes it REDUNDANT not STACK.
This means if one connection fails it will use the other, but it does not increase your internet speed becasue the ISP is limiting your connection. The amount of cables connecting your PC to your modem is not a bottleneck
Actually with the right NIC's and drivers you can do NIC teaming, as the name suggests the NIC's team up your PC sees it as one connection but its actually 2 or more physical, Although I know that most computers don't have this function, he said the card came from a server, So it may, with the right drivers, have this function. Im not trying to say your wrong. Im just trying to give you more knowledge, Obviously you are correct about the cable from the computer to the router not being a bottle neck

I know its not the devices because regardless of the devices the switch displays the connection link speed between it and the other switch, I think its because the RJ45 connectors I used are not for Cat6 and Cat6 uses slightly larger wires on the inside as well as the sleeving as compared to Cat5 and Cat5e
That is true, The wires are thicker, It could be possible that the pins that push through to make contact aren't quite through, If this is the case and you have the tools then you can try crimping the RJ45 down again and see if you can get contact that way. I buy my RJ45's in bulk and I cable both CAT5E and CAT6 and I have never had the problem your suggesting, But I can see how it would come about. I also don't believe there are 'special' CAT6 RJ45's

Hi!
I have an asus n900 rooter.
when i logged in on the 192.168.2.1 page, it showed up an update request, i pressed OK and while it started downloading the update file I accidentally closed my browser. since then when the rooter is stuck, just the power light turning on and off. I have tried resetting it by pressing the reset button, didn't work.
thanks
When you say you pressed the reset button? Is that the little button you get at with a pin or just the restart as in power cycle button?
If it was the latter then you could try the little button if you router has one, If not well... Ignore my post and wait for Asus to get back to you

I was checking up on my network switch and i saw... Gigabit,Gigabit,100,Gigabit,Gigabit so i check the cable and it says Cat6 all the others are Cat5e and i am wondering why it is not gigabit. I wired it the same as a Cat5e if thats the problem, or matbe the jack in the wall on the other end was wired when cat5 was the standard. Anyone have any suggestion?
It could be a multitude of things, Could be the cable in the walls or the device on the other end not supporting Gigabit, The color code for CAT5E and CAT6 are the same so that should not effect it, Basically the difference is in the quality of the cable for example CAT6 has tighter twists on the pairs and usually has a plastic core to reduce the amount of EMI

Dedicated is always an option although more expensive you have complete control over the box, Again may be overkill for your needs. The linked OVH branch I believe is dedicated, Another one to check out is Datashack.net, I will most likely get slated for recommending them as a few people have had bad experiences. But personally never had any trouble. They do nice cheap dedicated servers that you can customize to your needs and install windows on them.

Yeah that 21.99 a month deal looks killer. Will I will be able to host forums and a game server with that?
Yeah you should do fine with that, Obviously depends on how intensive your game server is. But you should be fine

So I'll be hosting a RSPS soon and I need to know some good VPS services which will host it for me. We are currently using Trentahost but it's not that great but it does host forums and server. I've tried searching for a good one but I have come to no avail. If nothing is found I'll stick with Trenta but I would rather not. We're currently paying $32 a month for it.
Hello,
What sort of specs are you looking for?
Netgear WNCE2001 not connecting properly

What mobo are you using? It looks like you have some special "killer" networking like I do? And it can cause problems so I would see if you can find a way just just disable all of the killer functions
