some things to consider, the SoC itself costs $280, this is a premium SoC at a premium price. Another thing is this is 14nm fin fet, of course it will have pretty good perf/watt compared to ARM SoCs on the archaic 28nm, but with 20nm and 16nm fin fet designs on the horizon things can change, (hopefully, TSMC get you #$%^#  @#$@ together, sick of your delays while intel roflstomps your face in the node war, okay rant over). Compared to haswell, these benchs are short burst perfect situation overviews not concrete benchs. I will hold out for more complete analysis. Don't get me wrong, this has me excited for what lies ahead, been looking for a good tablet to play hearthstone on and other misc stuff. Just gotta play devil's advocate here.

I loved it, but i also loved 1, 2, and 3. My standards are pretty low when it comes to movies, i just love mindless action TBH. Whenever someone says movie "x" has a bad script, i just never understand why. I am also a fan of offensive/immature humor, so things like balls hanging off a giant robot and southern accent stereotypes don't offend me

i could dig up an anandtech article on how 64 bit is not just memory addresses, but maybe later. edit: also, the move to 64 bit isn't just that, but also a move to ARMv8 instruction set

Now, am i the only that is excited for this because we will finally have an a15 successor?

gunsman got a reaction from 7850OC in Intel is losing billions
Intel has yet to get their phone SoCs to market and it will take some time to get good design wins. Medfield should be a strong competitor to qualcomm's 801, especially since they are using powerVR GPUs instead of their rather sub optimal ivy-bridge offering in bay trail. Honestly, intel has the man power and the resources to make damn good mobile SoCs. If they can just stop slacking in the GPU area they may have a chance, luckily the 805 is not really improving the CPU side, this may give intel some time to get it right. Hell, maybe they can even license kepler out from nvidia and use that. Maybe it is just the enthusiast in me, but i would love to see a joint nvidia/intel mobile SoC using intel's great CPU cores with nvidia's maxwell. both nvidia and intel aren't doing so great in the mobile market and that just might give them the advantage they need to put themselves on the map.

Nice blog post by Cliffy B on why the facebook acquisition is a good thing. This complaining has gone on for long enough, time for all of you to get out of your hipster, entitled holes. VR will be mainstream despite what you want because it makes sense. Sure it'll be great for gaming, but it can do so much more.

gunsman got a reaction from FloRolf in amd ces event live stream news
amd's live stream is going on now and so far they have announced kaveri launch date, january 14th and announced three new gpus, all mobile. r9m 290x r7m 265 and r5m 230. no specs were disclosed.

edit 1:frostbite, asura nitrous engines have mantle support, amd shows off bf4 with mantle, claims 45% increase in performance

edit 2: showing "beema" and "mullins" mobile chips, claiming large graphical performance delta over intel's bay trail, shows off discovery tablet

edit 3: added picture of discovery tablet. amd now showing off project spark. project spark was the sandbox game where you can make a game, shown off by microsoft at E3

edit 4: project spark beta on windows 8 now, coming to xbox one this month, didn't specify whether xbox release would be beta or official launch

edit 5: amd talking about their "surround house", 360 degree gesture control, powered by fire pro and a10 apu.

that is it, event is over.

in my opinion, i am still not sold on mantle yet, no concrete numbers yet, all demos. true audio demo, was not a live demo, still not sold as it was not a live demo. i think they have some great ideas, they just need to let us get a hold of them, and mantle needs larger developer adoption. only time will tell how this pans out

source: amd live stream, will add links to news site as they come up
