remenomen reacted to KakaoDj in [KG] New generator could power wearable tech through body heat
Kitguru article
It is not the first thermoelectric generator, but it's a lot smaller than the previous. This could be golden for wearables, and maybe even your cellphone. There will be clothes with these generators intergrated that you can use to charge every device you are carrying, maybe even wirelessly? Imagine never having to use another plug to charge your tech. This gets me so excited for the future
Edit: as @Misanthrope said, the USB buttplug we are all waiting for may be the best way to utilize body heat for all your electronic needs

You know, given the fact that one of the best ways to take up accurate temperature readings is rectally, Linus dreams of a USB buttplug might finally become reality

Damn it all, I'd rather die than charge my heart with that garbage connector.
My heart will not be defiled.

I see that you've made your decision, but if you haven't ordered yet, I'd like you to reconsider the Edifier R1600T's.
Please read this comment I wrote a while back:
"I highly recommend you look into the Edifier R1600t's. (I know they're not 2.1, but just hear me out)
I bought them a few months ago, and I'd do it again every time.
They're really great for every type of audio. Here's an unboxing and a quick review:
They're bookshelf speakers, so they look really classy. But if you take the cloth protection of, they really look awesome.
another upside is that they're powered speakers, which means you can connect anything with a 3.5 mm jack.
The audio quality is outstanding, and everyone who's heard them was very impressed.
Even a friend of mine (who is extremely cheap, he WON'T spend money) asked how much they are. He's now looking into getting a set for himself.
They are $70-$100, so for what you get, they're really well priced.
If you can't choose between a couple of options, get this! You won't regret it.

Thanks guys, I think I'll go with these: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/microlab-solo5c-80watt-20-high-fidelity-bookshelf-speakers-wooden-finish-with-remote-control
and a Polk PSW10 for the sub
For a DAC, I think my Xonar DX will suffice.
Thanks a lot, everyone!

remenomen reacted to RuecanOnRails in Litecoin Mining Pool Invites: Spread The Hashes
With the recent hype surrounding Litecoin, a lot of new miners and a lot more hashing power has been added to the network.
While the enthusiasm is great, the distribution of Hashing power is not looking to good. It's important to prevent one pool from acquiring a large % of the network.
You can view estimates of each known pool and their respective amount of the network.
https://www.litecoinpool.org/pools
A lot of new comers are joining up with WeMineLTC due to them being a large pool with a nice feature set. The amount which they are ahead of other pools is a bit concerning. Reaching over 30% of the network recently. if a bad actor were to launch an attack using that pool. There was a forum post regarding this same issue a week ago. I am bringing this up again as it continues to need attention. http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/84312-psa-try-and-use-other-mining-pools-in-place-of-wwwwemineltccom-they-are-near-25-of-the-network-hash-rate/
To help divide the hashrate at least on this forum, I have a few dozen invites readily available for https://www.liteguardian.com/secure/ An Invite only pool. Liteguardian is a low fee 2% PPS pool great for part time and full time miners alike.
If you would like an invite, I will require an email address to send the invite to. Please send me a PM with an email. Don't expose your email in public forums unless you like to be target of spam bots hehe.
