  1. It looks pretty awesome, but in all honesty, I'd rather go for the asus gryphon with the added thermal armor.
  2. Thats like saying: "Why do you need a 4670k? an i3 is just fine, god forbid you get a little bit lower fps."
  3. When had my 6300 it "bottlenecked" in battlefield 3 quite a bit. You'll probably get some lag spikes here or there in any game you play with it.
  4. You said your going to be using this as a work station, what programs specifically will you be using for it? I honestly think the 8350 is a better option than the i5, but only if you overclock it. The i7 will be better than both of those cpu's in editing programs and such, but idk if it would be that noticeable of a difference. If you're using Cinebench an 8350 rapes an i5. And about the motherboards being old, it doesnt affect performance at all. For instance, am3+ only has pcie 2.0, while intel already has pcie 3.0. But the gpu's that we have today havent even been able to take advantage of pcie 2.0 yet. Putting a gpu in pcie 3.0 is like plugging an hdd into sata6. it cant even take advantage of sata3, let alone sata6. You will lose no performance at all. As long as you go with a good reliable board, (NOT GIGABYTE) You should be gold with the 8350.
  5. Yeah i'll see if there is a udate for the bios. I haven't tried it with any other cpu. Do you think i should return this and get something like a ud5 or a ud7? This thing has some crazy V-droop when at load, up to half a volt. Even with llc on low
  6. So i just upgraded to an 8350 and when upgrading i got a gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 motherboard. It was probably a very stupid descision and even though every forum post told me to go against this board, especially for the 8350, I just couldn't resist the black and grey color scheme. Anyway, the motherboard is fine so far, but there is this weird thing that is happening to my computer. The computer will run perfectly fine, once i power down the computer and try to turn it on again, The fans have power and the lights flash for literally half of a second, before everything shuts off. Then about 5 seconds after that, all my fans and lights power back up, but only for about 5-10 seconds before everything loses power again. The way that i fix this, and what i have to do every single time i turn on my dang computer is unplug the power cord, and then re plug it in. Once i do that it boots just fine. But every time i turn off my computer i need to do the same thing. Watch it flash for half a second, and then unplug and replug the power cord. I don't believe this is the PSU's fault, I have an 750w Evga Supernova 80+ gold psu. But this problem only started to happen once i put in the 8350 with this mobo. Should i return the mobo and get a better one? What do you guys think that the problem is?
  7. The 8350 will definitely see a performance boost in these next gen games utilizing 8 cores. If you look at Bf4 (Game that can utilize 8 cores) the only thing that beats an 8350 is an intel extreme processor. The 8350 will start outperforming the i5 in gaming once the next gen consoles are released and people are developing games for its 8 core processor. In time the 8350 will be outperforming the i5 in games. Its just common sense. John Carmack even said it would happen.
  8. How has this thread not been locked? this was posted forever ago and the post was even on the WAN Show.
  9. Yeah the 4770k is a much better processor than the 4820. The one benafit that i can see about the 4820 is that you can overclock higher because of the solder. And of course you get the x79 architecture
  10. So i'm building this computer for my friend and he has a really tight budget. In order to be in his budget range he can only afford to get 4gb of ram. Will this affect gaming in any way? He's got a 7870 gpu and an fx-6300. Is 4gb going to affect his games? Whats the minimum amount of ram you would use for gaming?

  16. I think this is the first post i've seen you do... I'm saying this because i think i've seen you like at least one post on every thread i've ever been on. I never played witcher but, I know it was pretty hard to run.
  17. WAT So you just put thermal paste on whatever was under the lid and then hooked up your water cooling? Wouldn't that hurt the memory controllers? Or whatever is under the lid
  18. But that's only one of the new cards. I thought amd was refreshing there whole lineup.
