  1. Right now I'm using some cheap generic piece of crap with Revoltec branding The rubbercoating on the top has already started coming off about a year ago and the sensor tends to act up at random -.- I'd like to have a decent mouse for a change ...
  2. This would make the perfect little media PC for my bedroom ^^
  3. usable speakers <3 ... also like the unique skin ^^
  4. thx for the suggestion ... tried it ... but didn't help ... I also just tried using DVI ... didn't help either.... My best guess is that the Intel Graphics driver is just broken ... tried an old 19" 1280x1024 -> same issue Solved it now by putting in a Geforce 210 that I had collecting dust ^^ Connected the HDMI ... ZERO problems ... works perfectly now ... whatever Intel does .. they're doing it wrong
  5. Thanks for replying! ^^ I have not tried other outputs on the mainboard because I don't have any cables that would be long enough ... When I get home today I'll try DVI by putting the display under my table... if that fixes the issue I'll have to get my hands on a 5 meter DVI cable I'm kind of suspecting HDMI to be the problem here as it doesn't officially support anything higher than 1080p ... so it resets everytime to stay within spec.... There are quite a few reasons for me to hate this mainboard ^^ First of all die USB3.0 ports tend to cause random incompatibility issues with simple stuff like flashdrives or external HDDs. After about half a year the onboard soundcard stopped working and only output crazy loud noise. That stupid UEFI bios doesn't recognize my USB mouse -.- so I have to use classic mode which I'd prefer anyway if it covered all the settings ... which it doesn't ... Onboard fan-control barely covers the basics by only having 3 presets. I'm sure there was some other stuff that I can't remember of the top of my head...
  6. Hi guys ... you're kind of my last hope here ... So .. I got a Samsung Syncmaster 2443bw on ebay but now I'm running into some kind of a weird problem o_O It's a 1920x1200 24" display. Every time I set the correct resolution in windows it's fine until I reboot the system. On startup windows messes something up and resets the resolution to 1920x1080 -.- When I go into settings to change it it even detects that 1920x1200 is the recommended res! Short list of the other relevant parts: CPU: i5-4670k -> intel hd 4600 Board: Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD4H (I hate this thing -.- for so many reasons) the display is connected to the motherboard through an HDMI-to-DVI cable (HDMI on the board, DVI on the display) I'm running win7 I already tried uninstalling+reinstalling the intel drivers and also installed the driver for the display itself. Any ideas what might be causing this ?
  7. update ... had enough of this BS ... buying Asus Xonar card ... about time to switch to a decent soundcard anyway ...
  8. what's also bothering me is ... how do manufacturers determin the standby time to get 300+ hours??? since it's nowhere near the real numbers ... or do they define "standby" as shutting the phone down o_O
  9. So ... most of you probably have their 2nd, 3rd or even 10th smartphone and have gotten used to the ridiculous battery life of these stupid things. I'm one of those few who still use more of a classic cell phone ( w810i ) it basicly does all the things you actually need on a phone ... calls, text, music, photos, videos, mail ( if you have a data plan ) and other random stuff ... Sure it doesn't run angry birds and the screen is just tiny... but it runs for up to 8 FREAKING DAYS on a charge!!! According to http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_ericsson_w810-1402.php it has a standby time of up to 350h ... well on light use it actually manages around 200h so thats not too far off. And that's on the 6+ year old battery it came with... Pick ANY new phone on that page ... the spec-sheet tells you that those have 300-450h of standby time ... BULLSHIT! Charge it...put it on your desk and only touch it once a day to check the battery... at BEST ... with EVERYTHING turned off ... you'll get around 2-4 days ... so 24 x 4 is 300h ?! I don't think so!!! btw I didn't just pull those numbers out of thin air ... checked this myself on Samsung Wave 2 ( 3-4 days on pure standby wifi on, bluetooth off, cellular data off) and Samsung Omnia7 ( in batterysaver mode it tells me that it'll last for 36h ). Tell me about your experience ... what phone do you use? how long does it last on a charge? Is there even a valid reason to use something that can't run for a whole day IF you actually use it? Am I just stupid and/or getting old ?!
  10. maybe some k-series CPU ? 4670k? shouldn't be too much extra
  11. same problem ... fixed thanks to youtube user megas64 since the default tab in the sub-box is "uploads only" it still doesn't show any of the other stuff people do ... so this is perfect!
  12. years ago I got 2 500GB Samsung drives with my new PC and as time went on I kept buying additional drives because I ran out of space all the time and buying lots of big drives at once was too expensive -.- so after sticking to the brand I already knew, my setup looks something like this main system: 2x3TB Seagate, 4x 2TB Samsung, 120GB Samsung SSD - everything as simple separate drives ( bought the Seagate drives after Samsung stopped making HDDs and at the time these were the cheapest alternative ) backup "server": 3x750GB Samsung, 3x1TB Samsung - AS ONE BIG STRIPE RAID !!! ... that's one horrible way to backup data .. expecially when one of those 1TB drives might have broken sectors I seriously need some decent backup solution! twitter : https://twitter.com/PC_Suchti/status/375246802628251648
  13. whatever happened ... now it seems to be gone... almost a week without hickups only thing I can think of that might have caused this is some kind of electromagnetic charge in some component which then went away while the system was off over night or maybe just unplugging and replugging stuff magically fixed everything ...
  14. so... yeah ... what's the worst kind of computer problem? - the one that resolves itself! ( or pretends to do so ) I have no idea at all what caused the whole thing .... had the system shutdown for the night and guess what today it works or ... WORKED for about 15 minutes -.- just as I started typing this reply to tell you that it's fixed ... BOOM ... loud crackling noise and it's back to where it left off ... well not exactly because I can still hear ne music through the noise OK ... while still typing this I switched to another song ... heard a loud bang and noise is gone again stuff that can't make up its mind if it's broken or not is just the worst !!! I'll have to keep experimenting to find the cause of this but for now it kind of randomly jumps back and forth I'll just see what happens in the next couple of days and post the results
