TheMightyNoob01 reacted to Master Disaster in Gran Turismo 7 is the latest title to be hit with a review bomb after devs release patch to nerf winnings in order to sell MTX
I'm really surprised how little coverage this is getting considering its a first party Sony IP and honestly, what they've done here would make Bobby Kotick sweat. Its a classic bait & switch like Activision used to do until they got destroyed for it.
The first offence was them tying the entire game to be online only. This backfired very quickly however after the game servers were down for over a full day because scheduled maintenance went wrong and as you can imagine, fans were not exactly happy that they were unable to play their $70 single player (mostly) game because the devs made a mistake with a patch.
But wait, there's more. When the game finally came back up players immediately noticed that many of the higher tier races with good payouts had been nerfed by as much as 60%. So what Sony did here is give reviewers and journalists access to one version of the game then within 48hrs of it being released to the public went and changed the terms. For the first time ever in a GT title, you also cannot sell the cars you win for money either, I wonder why?
To add fuel to the fire, Polyphony digital tried to justify the insane prices of the most iconic and sought after cars by saying "because realism" which might be the most tone deaf response since "a sense of pride and accomplishment in achievement". All the iconic GT cars (Skylines, GTOs, NSXs etc etc) are a half million each. You want a race car? That'll be upto 4 million. How about a legendary race car? Yeah, that's cost ya upto 20 million. To paraphrase Yong Yea, "you don't get to call your game the ultimate race fantasy while at the same time pricing your cars at real world values, the point of a game is to live a fantasy that you otherwise couldn't and the point of fantasy is that you remove the bad parts and focus on the good".

Other big names have chimed in too with Digital Foundry doing the old "i was right" twitter flex.
As of the writing of this post the game sits at 1.7 on Metacritic which is lower than Battlefield 2142 ever reached

I'm actually glad, not that Sony ripped of their customers but that said customers have finally started to push back against this absolute bullshit. Its disgusting that they think they can get away with this on a $70 games and even worse, this is a Sony first party IP and in the past those have been relatively free of gaming blight.
I'm so glad I only play old games these days.

Their Av business is downright wrong and borderline a scam. Have you bought a consumer PC lately?
Their shit is reloaded with a free trial and you have to use a removal tool to get rid of it. Which leads regulars uses to believe that they need to renew it or deal with it's popups.
Been their tactic for years
Fuck them. They can die out.
Lenovo too.

TheMightyNoob01 reacted to Nineshadow in Hackers Threaten to Expose 37 Million Cheating AshleyMadison Users
AshleyMadison—tagline “Life Is Short. Have An Affair”—is an online site that facilitates cheating among its 37 million users. It’s a service founded on confidentiality and privacy, which now seems to have all of its data in the hands of hackers. They’re demanding the company take down the site, or they’re going to out a lot of adulterers. The hackers, going by the name “The Impact Team,” posted a small sample of sensitive data (since taken offline) stolen from Avid Life Media, the company that owns AshleyMadison, along with other hookup sites Cougar Life and Established Men. The data was accompanied by a statement, demanding the takedown of AshleyMadison and Established Men. If that doesn’t happen, the hackers are threatening to leak the full details—names, addresses, sexual fantasies—of AshleyMadison’s 37 million users. Speaking to security blog KrebsOnSecurity, ALM Chief Executive Noel Biderman confirmed the hack, condemned the “criminal act,” and said the company was working hard to have the data taken down. The Impact Team’s beef with Avid seems to lie with the Full Delete feature offered by AshleyMadison—a $19 service that allows users of the site to erase their profile, and all accompanying information. According to The Impact Team, that service is a lie—it claims that although profile information is removed, credit card details, including real name and billing address—remain online.
That frames the hackers as the good guys, campaigning against a lying company; of course, a trove of personal information, including credit card details, can be worth serious money to the right people.
It goes without saying that this is about the worst data leak imaginable—not only does it have the usual problems of identity fraud, but if the full list of AshleyMadison’s users hits the internet, that’s a lot of adulterers outed.

Use Revo Uninstaller to remove it next time, and run ADWCleaner, Combofix, hitmanpro, and roguekiller.
