  1. outstanding she actually just turned on no adjusts needed. Lmao what I'm actually astounded
  2. Ah, sorry mate I've never been part of teh linux enviroment, maybe some other time. You think the thing will actually boot out of a completely different computer from the old SSD?
  3. TL;DR what steps do I need to take to start a fully assembled sans hard drives pc? Evening everyone. A friend of mine works at [company] and just gave me one of their e-recycled PCs. Of course, the thing has all the hard-drives ripped out, and I have 4 (2 SSD, 2 regular HDs) that I want to put into the machine. These hard drives came from my broken build a while back. Trying to retrace what I did to start my first computer, I'm assuming I'm going to need a USB stick with windows downloaded onto it. Problem is I dont have a CD key and I'll have to go and buy that. But what about my old drives? Will the data on there still be usable, or is data 'locked' to my old, destroyed PC?
  4. You wouldn't recommend capitalizing on the deals? Or is it just a gamble if my GPU is even on sale and I could end up in the middle of a shortage
  5. Alright, I got it. For now I think im gonna buy a replacement graphics card that can trend comfortably into a new build. I might wait for Black Friday/Cyber Monday to do that. I still have a laptop that I can play games on in the meantime. As suggested above Im considering the 6700XT or the RX 7600 -- theyre very similarly priced out here in Japan and in the used market theyre as low as 35000 yen consistently. So, it might not be that much of a jump. My 2070 cost 500 bucks back in the day ... I think that was because of the GPU shortages.
  6. I guess Im curious if it was the GPU that went out because of a bad GPU, or because of something else like the power supply or my CPU overclock. I dont want to stick another card in here for it to get chewed up, I guess.
  7. Oh yeah the cpu would definitely be bottlenecking it, but I'm prob gonna wait till black friday/after christmas to buy some new parts and slowly build another one up.
  8. I suppose if I can complain a bit, I was hoping by me buying what I considered a mid-to-high tier card back in the day, it would last me a little longer than 4 years! Though, I only game on 1080p 144hz. I dont need anything crazy in that case. And the equivalents don't cost too much, the 7600 and 6900 from AMD are around 300 dollars.. but still, that's quite a bit of change. I was hoping my card would be one of those winners that lasted like, 10 years and only stopped working once you replaced it for something better lol
  9. I have a gaming laptop so it can pass while I think of one. But right now I live abroad and in Japan-- tech here is very expensive. I was suggested to get a used AMD card if I can manage it, just to tide me over if I want a desktop. But idk if the newer cards can even be ran in my rig, she's kind of old... But yeah I'll. Come back. When I mourn her. Only 4 years of service. God, I wonder what killed her.
  10. I'm very sad, but also not panicked for some reason. This GPU cost a lot back in the day but apparently it's relatively cheap these days. How long do gpus last anyways? Ive built three PCs through my life and I've never encountered this. I usually replace the thing before they do.. this..
  11. so no saving her? She worked so hard for years and just gave up or something? At least the rest of the computer didn't fry? Good god whyyy
  12. So I was able to start the computer and log in by just using the igpu. But otherwise yeah it doesn't see my graphics card even with it slotted in.
  13. Hi there, and darn. No I dont have another PC to try it out in. The card is maybe ..more than 5 years old? Maybe more. I've never done an RMA before but Im gonna assume that far out Gigabyte would throw their hands up and shrug lol
  14. Hi there. Sorry, I forgot to put the stuff. It's in the main thread but here it is as well. This happened after I had finished gaming for the night. I was just winding down with a youtube video when everything went dark. The GPU itself had a very slight overclock (I think, not totally sure, it mightve just been a fan curve) but that had been going since .. last year? The CPU had a slight overclock on it as well, since last year too. The last time I updated the GPU was last week.
  15. Good evening, I'm Greyson. Here's the specs for my computer. My displays suddenly went dark when I was watching a YouTube video. None of the games I had were open, but I was watching across two displays. Both screens went dark and my speakers gave kind of a glitchy sound before going mute as well. After both of my displays went dark the sound from my YouTube video kept on playing. I restarted my computer, but none of my displays are being recognized, the monitors just turn off after saying there's no signal. I restarted the computer and tried to use the mobo graphics, nothing. It did work eventually, after I let the computer stay off for a bit. I noticed then that the GPU fans were not on. I switched power cables and pci-e slots on the GPU to see if that was then problem. Nothing. The GPU seems dead. Any idea as to what could have happened? And how could I fix it? I hope to God that my GPU didn't just crap out, but please let me know what you think. Greyson
  16. No luck. Switching power cables didn't work either. Displays still dark.
  17. All right I checked all the ports and doesn't look like there's any damage on the power cables. I could try to use another set of power cables to see if that's what it is?
  18. Hey there, a little update. I tried the motherboard directly after the issue and it didn't work. I let the computer rest for a bit without any power and started again and it did boot up with the motherboard graphics. It still will not boot up with the GPU, and putting my hand inside the computer and touching the fans, it appears the GPU fans aren't even spinning. I'm wondering if my graphics card is dead or if there's something really wrong here. Because when it gave out I still had sound and computer didn't restart or shut off.
  19. Note: I left my computer off for a while then plugged one screen into the mobo. The computer started, albiet quite slowly, and it does not appear to be registering my graphics card (Intel Graphics Command suddenly installed itself, and I can't see any trace of my gpu).

  21. And now it appears my headphones only work on one ear. Oh lord I hope nothing weird happened to my com puter.
  22. Uh, I just updated the utility, and for whatever reason she woke back up and now she's running at full capacity. Not sure (???) what's happening here, but I guess.. fixed? What happened?
