  1. IDK man, i've murdered a lot of RAM. had some die due to multiple power outages, had some die from overclocking. haven't killed any with static.... yet.
  2. it's probably the hardware's lack of ability to replicate the color well, or the white light defuser is making the color more lackluster. I saw some Aurous sticks do the same thing. they can't even match the same color as the motherboard of the same brand
  3. Boot order is handled by the BIOS/UEFI on the motherboard. you can select boot order there, but you cannot have it be directed by the first boot device unless the boot device has a boot manager on it, that would direct the BIOS to boot onto just the OSs on that device. there is no way to speed this process up with multiple OSs (that i'm aware of) you have a default OS, and if you need to boot something else just use the BIOS's boot override function when the MB does a POST.
  4. are you using the most updated GPU drivers? have you tried setting the fan curve with MSI afterburner or ASUS GPU TWEAK II?
  5. sounds like windows is the issue. you can try doing hibernation instead of sleep, as this dumps everything to the disk instead of RAM.
  6. how many sticks do you have? try each stick by itself in every slot to see if it will boot. if a single stick doesn't work in any slot it's dead. if a stick works in all slots but one, the slot is dead. after testing all sticks individually, test a pair in each paired channel.
  7. OH BOY, i guessed right. delete all the partitions, then click next. you can click next with no partitions selected, and it will do everything itself.
  8. slap it in SATA0/1 no reason other than it bothers me that 1/2 are empty, and you have it in 3.
  9. thanks man. good stuff. Kind of pretty happy about AMD putting out APUs worth slapping in my desktop.
  10. the is large color variance based on software between many RGB products, and the hardware's ability to produce the same colors across vendors, even at the same hex values. where are you seeing the 128/0/128 value? where are you setting that value to see it show up as 255/105/180 in AuraSync?
  11. it could be this as well. I see that @OP opted for some slower speed RAM. I wasn't going to suggest this at first because he wasn't seen any BSODs with memory errors.
  12. if you're good with Nukin' it, that's almost always going to fix the issue. just choose custom install and delete all of the old partitions when you install the new OS.
  13. was this bootable windows drive made with GPT or MBR? if it was made with legacy MBR it's possible your boot and system partition flags have gotten fudged up. you should run startup repair a few times (at least 3) from a bootable USB to see if it can fix it. check this out. Windows used MBR until Win8 I think, so if that was a windows 7 SSD you might be in a whole lot of "not fun" https://www.howtogeek.com/193669/whats-the-difference-between-gpt-and-mbr-when-partitioning-a-drive/ if you have a spare drive i would install a new OS to it, then copy the contents of the SSD over as a back up, and just do a new install on the SSD and move what you need back to it.
  14. try a program like CoreTemp to get your CPU temps. it sounds like an overheat issue. do you hear your AIO pump having any issues? the video is kind of fuzzy, so i can't see the numbers in the task manager.
  15. the cause might be that you don't have a bootable OS on that drive.
  16. i'd pick the 5800x. less TDP is a plus, PCI-e gen4 is a plus. AMD has PCI-e 4th gen options if you care. intel is 14nm, vs the AMD 7nm if you care about lithography. the intel is 125W TDP, vs the AMD 105W TDP if you care about energy burn and heat dissapation the intel has 10core/20thread vs the AMD 8C/16T but you probably won't notice the difference if you're just gaming. intel's MSRP is 450, AMD is 400. (not that it matters MSRP is a wash right now anyway.)
  17. you'd probably like to stay under 80C to "feel good" but if you're not seeing thermal throttling I wouldn't go out of the way to buy a new cooler and repaste the CPU. I regularly ran my old Intel 7700k at 90~ish °C in a slim form-factor build and while it super wasn't good for longevity, it was acceptable for the build type. it didn't make me a happy camper, but I knew it wasn't going to just pop on me.
  18. if they sell a single card, is it no longer a paper launch? it might as well be a paper launch right? thus, I call it like I see it.
  19. you're going to need to get a titan if you want to play Roblox bro.
  20. if you have that many pins bend, you should use the credit card method. as always, check out some videos first, take your time, don't rush.
  21. how bad is the damage? if it's a single pin you can use a mechanical pencil to slowly SLOWLY nudge it back in place.
  22. 91C is pretty hot. that's a temp cap. it must be downclocking to protect itself at that point. but that temp is in a synthetic benchmark that's made to overheat your CPU. see what temps you get with regular gaming, and video benchmarks. unless you're doing CPU intensive programs constantly you're unlikely to see your CPU hit 100% constantly.
  23. it's a paper launch. they're all paper launches. if there is stock, nvidia's site would have the founders edition, and links to partner sites like best buy, amazon, etc.
