solarwinggx got a reaction from Jurrunio in Is my GPU broken?
I plugged the GPU into the older computer and the same artifacts appeared with the most recent drivers.... It looks like I did fuck something up while putting the fan back on. I'll clean it again throughly but it looks like an RMA is in order ;(

    Thanks for you help!

Appears to be just thermal pad over the VRMs.
The VRAM ICs do not have anything over them.

i already said that i tried going here to get the right drivers for my keyboard, but it didnt help me get my Fn functionality back and only gave me a bunch of bloat ware.
Thank you for being so condescending.

solarwinggx got a reaction from Hunched in Fans are too loud/speedfan help!
OK GUYS, I FOUND THE REASON

im an idiot and had the fan control mode in bios set to disabled and change it to pwm allowed me to control fans in speedfan 4.52 (beta version)

the next step is to find out why speedfan wont register my water pump's RPM. i can control it's speed in speedfan (0% signal stops the pump) but i cant see how fast its spinning

    ***update***
changing the waterpump pwm header from the dedicated waterpump header (on the asus Z170-pro motherboard) to a chasisfan header fixed the problem

i now have full control over my waterpump and can see its rpm

I swear nobody reads the fucking issues people are having and what they want help with.
Obviously it's plugged into his motherboard header if SpeedFan is recognizing it and he just said he doesn't want to use the BIOS for fan control...

I don't know why people are telling you to buy things instead of helping you get SpeedFan working which is free lol, but whatever.

Realistically, you only see a difference with the newer card on the 5GHz band, within a small difference. 5Ghz can push more data at once, but it gets caught out by walls way quicker. the 2.4Ghz performance should be virtually the same, assuming they are using similar chips. Of course, this advantage goes out the window if the things you need connecting, can't connect with 5GHz

    1) If your system is that close, I don't see the point to the WiFi card
    2) It depends how your tests were done. There's a lot of factors for WiFi speeds, everything from interference, to channel, frequency, time of day, traffic at that time, drives, etc, etc
    3) The results are as expected on WiFi, it's damn near impossible to actually reach 300Mbps on WiFi

2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz can be broadcast simultaneously on a dual band router. On top of that, each frequency will have interference with every other channel on the same frequency created by other wireless routers and APs. Hell, on 2.4GHz, you'll get interference from cordless phones, cell phones on occasion, and microwaves.

To really get a performance delta, you need to do a larger sample size of each device at different times of day to get an idea, whilst keep the traffic you send across while doing the speed test the same if possible, as well as the number of people connected to the AP.
