Windows 10 install gets stuck at the blue windows logo
Blauweke replied to Blauweke's topic in Troubleshooting
I've tried a diffirent flash drive and no diffirence :( -
So i've just built a new machine. Well, it's not actualy very new, it's built used parts. The hard drive is also used, now i thought the dude i bought this from formatted them, but it turns out there was still a windows 7 32 bit install on there. That install works just fine, although a little slow since it's 32 bit and it seems like it also doesn't know the product code anymore. So i downloaded windows 10 with the media creation tool, put it on a flash drive, and booted to it, and it just gets stuck at the windows logo, after around 20 minutes, a loading icon appeared underneeth, and somewhere around another 20 minutes later, the screen just goes black, at wich point the only option is to turn off the power supply. So here's a list of the parts i'm using, i did try to unplug the hard drive and restart the installation but that seems to have made no diffirence. Mobo: Asrock 1333 4core viiv(Used) CPU: Core 2 Quad Q6600(Used) RAM: 4GB DDR2 800MHz Corsair valueselect(New) PSU: Some 500W PSU that came with the case from cooltek, i doubt this is the problem, this is also new GPU: Another old card that's just a placeholder since my hd 7970 hasn't arrived yet So yeah, thanks for reading throuhg this post.B

So i bought a second hand motherboard, but the power switch header appears to be broken, whenever i turn on the PSU it boots up immediatly, and i can't turn it off using the switch. The only way to shut it down is by pressing shut down in the OS. If i wanna power it back on again, i have to turn off the PSU, remove the CMOS battery, put it back in, and turn on the PSU again, and it wil boot. So i had this idea to fix it, if i put the power switch header in between the green wire on the 20pin power connector (Yes, this motherboard uses a 20 pin ATX connector) and a black wire on the on the connector, will that boot up the system, or is there anything else that the power switch does when hooked up to the motherboard? Also, wich black wire does the green wire connect to when the system is powered on? The motherboard i'm using is a Asrock 1333 4core Viiv. I doubt this matters but i'll put it on here anyway, and yes, i did try a diffirent power supply that was confirmed working just fine. Thanks for your help, -Blauweke

So i've just overclocked my 4790K to 4.7GHz at 1.3V, and i've been trying to get it to run on adaptive voltage mode, but it just doesn't seem to listen to anything i put in it. Now my question is, is it fine to be running the cpu at 1.3V in manual mode 24/7? (the voltage does fluctuate slightly, by 0.005V around 1.3V)

I install my new mobo yesterday(asus maximus ranger) and now all drives show up in 'My PC' apart from my 2TB WD green, but it does show up in device manager, now my question is: how do i make it show up in 'My PC' without losing all of the data that was on it?

I put my 4790K in my asus z-87K, wich cant deliver enough power so my voltage regulators started to overheat. Derp. So i bought an asus maximus ranger, installed it, and now my regulator temps are looking like this: 71 degrees;28 degrees, and 71 degrees (with nothing but skype and google chrome open) So I was wondering if these temps are normal? 71 degrees seems quite high but i really dont have any expierience with these things.

Hi, i edit videos, quite alot actually. And i'm running windows 7 right now, so i wanted to know if it was worth upgrading to windows 8 because it's got better performance. I wouldn't say my video editing is the most demanding, i just take footage and add some effects and time remapping in after effects. Here are my specs incase you need them: Intel core i5-4430 16GB corsair vengeance LP ram asus GTX 760 Samsung 840 series 120GB SSD (I'm a complete noob at hardware stuff, so please don't throw that at me.)
