  1. It probably won't be noticeable until you get something close to 120hz.
  2. WIth my Gigabyte 970 I've had to lessen the memory usage with GTA V, but having the extra fast 500MB of vram on the 980 could be put to better use in 1440p gaming.
  3. You're welcome! Have fun with the NZXT Hue controller!
  4. What everyone else is saying! I have the white series of the HyperX 16GB and love it, but the Corsair model would most likely perform the same.
  5. Yes! I have it and it does a great bright white color or dim.

  7. Which do you prefer? Money left over or better gaming? Two 970's kickbutt, although two 980's all the more if you have extra money.
  8. The ASUS Z97-A with USB 3.1 is only $148 if you're interested in getting the latest USB port speeds
  9. Yeah, after I posted I saw that he said he had another stick which is great! Personally, $148 is not expensive to me, the Sabertooth is. It was only a suggestion after all.
  10. Dual RAM kits are generally better. Also the ASUS Z97-A with USB 3.1 ports is a great motherboard if you can afford it at $148 right now!
  11. While it's none of my peripheral.. (pun intended) if it's a good quality project (ex. Corsair, Logitech, and more) I probably would go for it. Especially if it was a good amount cheaper than brand-new.
  12. Yes it is! But you'll need to make sure it's compatible in case you were interested in purchasing some http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/memory-ddr4-info
  13. Sorry, I had already talked about some parts in previous threads so I didn't mention other components. I will be using this for gaming, but I am a multitasker as well and can afford to get the i7 so I went with that CPU. With the GPU, I plan on going SLI with the 970's, but right now I will not need it. (Thus the amount of PSU watts chosen) I figured two SSD's should be fine for now, but I will definitely get a bigger drive when I need more than 490GB of storage. Only the SSD's and WiFi Adapter have been purchased. My main questions I am looking for answers again are: but I'm wondering how many cable combs you would recommend? What is the best thermal compound? What is the best fan placements in the 450D?
  14. Hey guys! This is what I want to go with, but I'm wondering how many cable combs you would recommend? Looks like at least one of the 4, 6, 8, and 24 slot combs to me. http://www.performance-pcs.com/e22-cable-comb-4-24-slots-black.html Also what is the best thermal compound? The one I selected I just figured that's what many people get. I want to overclock so is there something that would transfer heat a little bit better or is Arctic the best? Also what is the best fan placements in the 450D? I figured one on the top, two at the front (will switch to AF140's), and one at the back? 15. I want to have a 1080p 60Hz monitor between 22"-24" inches, probably widescreen as well since my current monitor that will pair with it is a HP w2207 (http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00908018) Are there any recommendations and monitors I should not purchase? I'd probably want between 1ms-5ms as well. These are also going to be wall mounted next to eachother, I don't know if that makes a whole lot of difference.
  16. Yes the $0 items I've already got! Thank you for the quick response! I'll definitely look into that! I had no idea you could get an OS that cheap, seems a little odd, but if it would work I'm game for that! (pun intended) I like the idea of a GTX 970 since the performance was pretty awesome! With this new cost I think this system would be really good. Do you have any thoughts of the BIOS of GIGABYTE compared to the ASUS model I selected? I wasn't sure if there was a better one for overclocking, or for the matter, an easier to understand system when trying to overclock. I don't know what you really mean, but I see some really helpful posts!
  17. Hey guys! Sometime during the summer, if not any sooner I plan on doing my first pc build. 1. Budget & Location My budget is around $800-$1,100 USD in Oregon. I have some wiggle room within the budget as I do not want to upgrade in a couple of years just from getting cheaper parts. 2. Aim I do a little video editing, Photoshop CS2 editing, youtube watching, web browsing, maybe some modeling 3D work in the future. My aim is mostly a gaming pc with some ability to edit short videos. Possibly livestream as well in the future. I would like to do some overclocking on the CPU, but nothing too crazy. 3. Monitors I currently have a 1680x1050 HP w2207 monitor (it's ten years old) but I do want to get a second monitor at 1080p that isn't too expensive. Is that going to cause any issues having two different resolution monitors? 4. Peripherals I will probably get peripherals if I find any sales, but I have some basic devices to use until then. I will be purchasing any operating system that is the cheapest that can upgrade to Windows 10 in the future. 5. Why are you upgrading? The reason I am upgrading is because I am using a laptop HP Pavilion G7 with Intel i3 2330m and integrated graphics. This of course, does not play Cities: Skylines very well even on low resolution after a big population count. I want to be able to play Cities: Skylines on High/Ultra hopefully with great unlaggable fps. I might also purchase GTA V for PC if the new rig could handle it well. I have attached an Excel spreadsheet of what I think are good products that could serve me well, but if you guys think I can get away with another item please let me know!
  18. I've heard better reviews on Seagate HDD's, but I wouldn't really know if they are that much of a difference. The build looks pretty solid though!
  19. Right now I drive a 1998 Ford Ranger XL with 76,800 miles and love it! This 2015 Ford F150 Platinum is definitely what I am aiming for in the next five-seven years!
  20. So I guess I'm gonna have to re-pipe my house so that I can put it in a storage tank now! This is very interesting. Also nice Taco Bell ad, gave me the explosives lol.
  21. Well I cannot remember how long I've watched Linus Tech Tips, but I have for at least a couple of years and figured I should join this forum in part of preparation for building my very first computer haha. I'm excited to see and hear about all the new content for computers!!
