iamdarkbowser reacted to samcool55 in Is The Strix Flavor Better Than Normal?
Well yea, it's made for a different card.
The normal one is made for reference cards, these ones: https://www.amd.com/en/products/graphics/radeon-rx-vega-64
The strix one is specifically designed for this one: https://www.asus.com/Graphics-Cards/ROG-STRIX-RXVEGA64-O8G-GAMING/
They use a different PCB so the blocks needs to be different as well.

iamdarkbowser got a reaction from Ikarus in Best "Inventing" Laptop
School is starting for me and I need a new laptop. I often need to design things in Autodesk Inventor for projects and whatnot. Much of this I have to do at home, where I can use my computer, and the rest at school on the aforementioned laptop.
What I require in the laptop:
1: It must be light and portable, physical size is less important than weight (it's going in my backpack, so it needs to be somewhat robust as well).
2: It must be capable of running Autodesk Inventor and the ram hungry monster known as Chrome at the same time.
3: It must have more than 3 hours of battery life (not sure what the average laptop battery life is).
4: The keyboard must have function keys and other keys such as delete (my old laptop has neither). The trackpad doesn't have to be impressive as I will often use a mouse.
5: It must cost less than $800 USD.

It should allow for basic control, but no syncing.

I may have found the true cause of global warming... folding on Vega 64. If there is a fire in Reno, Nevada, you know the cause.

To the google. Sounds (pun intended) good to me. Finding a stand should be easy enough of a task, and if their attachment methods don't agree, I always have duct tape.

Snow ball ICE?
You will need to get your own floor stand, no mics come with that sort of thing.

I do not have a sun filter, I mostly wanted to take pictures of the planets and perhaps some deep sky objects, if I can point at them that is.

iamdarkbowser reacted to W-L in Anodization Help
Blackener is only black unfortunately and isn't able to have different colors like dye. If you don't mind a wet spray finish you can always go for something like Duplicolor Metalcast it provides an anodized aluminium type look and even shows any brushed or finished look underneath.

Most of it'll be in a future build log, but unfortunately I need to buy a car before any machines, tools or stock. I might be able to start by November.

Be sure to get a good dust mask if you plan on doing a lot of polishing, lots of fine aluminium dust and polishing compound. Let me know what you get up to I'd be interested in seeing what you start making.

I understand that feeling, if you working with CNC's especially if your not programming it doesn't provide the same satisfaction as a fully manual machined part.

They're not massive but this shows it well enough here:

iamdarkbowser got a reaction from iamdarkyoshi in What Fans Are Pushy, Not Sucky?
I think I will go with the V120B, about $8 per fan and the specs page for them explicitly says that they are static pressure optimized.
-
iamdarkbowser reacted to WoodenMarker in What Fans Are Pushy, Not Sucky?
They're less static pressure oriented than most of the fans listed but should be enough. Keep in mind that they aren't stellar performers but are alright and look pretty nice in person.

Kaby Lake and Skylake are only compatible with DDR3 in the form of DDR3L or LPDDR3.
Desktop DDR3 doesn't work to my knowledge.

Both of those builds are far beyond the permanent price limit I set about 2 hours ago (less than $500). As for the drive choice, he needs a decent amount of space and I want him to have some speed beyond what normal hard drives can do, but more space than your average cheap SSD, thus, hybrid drive. I use a little less than 240GB and I'm guessing that he will be using more than me.

If you can wait for a $10.00 rebate, Newegg has a SeaSonic M12II 520 Bronze EVO out there for right around $50.00 after the rebate.
