The only legal action they can take is if you sell OSx86 stuff
Like selling a hackintosh or selling software to make a hackintosh ect.

Hitman123 reacted to Jarsky in Why is AMD always considered the 2nd of everything
They bought out ATI Technologies aka. the GPU manufacturers of Radeon.

Unfortunately back in 2008 while Intel refocused on reducing their manufacturing process and putting their research into power savings, AMD continued to just coast raising clock frequencies and not being concerned with their TDP.
The result being that Intel's Nehalem CPU's (LGA 1366) had major power saving cost benefits for Xeon's, so were much more practical for DataCentres to use, while the Core desktop variants were extremely overclockable because of the increase in Tj distance - making them extremely popular for enthusiasts. The lower power also meant that they were cooler so more stable for many system builders to use as they could cut costs on cooling solutions.

The loss in the market meant that AMD had to cut a huge chunk of their desktop manufacturing with Global Foundaries, which cost them a lot in penalties as well as lost revenue - which means less $$ for R & D.
They've since been doing more R&D in the mobile processing space (hence their APU's) for which they were already starting on the back foot against the likes of Qualcomm & ARM, and their Radeon Graphics division which to be fair has been doing pretty well.

Problem isnt so much AMD, but they have some extremely strong competition in the markets theyre trying to play in, with well established companies that have one pure focus area.

The chances of one leaking are slim to none. If you want to overclock, a high end water cooler would definitely win in terms of performance.

If you want, I can recommend one for whatever budget you have

I have the Corsair H105 and love it. If you are to go with a cooler tower, get the Noctua NH-D14. Now that is a beast.
