3060 for longevity, 6600 XT for more and raw performance now. Wouldn't bother with 2060. Of course, if the price is allowing you.

^ This, unless you have GPU laying around that you can temporarily (aka a year or two) use in your new system.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL. Not for laptops. Nowhere even close.

The links you provided LITERALLY proved my point. It's 10-15% faster. Your benchmark links show 20-25% faster. Laptopmag isn't good. Userbenchmark is even worse. And they both still show even higher increases in performance. Also, the reason why both those are fucking terrible for laptops is because there is a HUGE range of performance on laptops due to individual manufacturers changing TDP limits, voltage limits, clock limits, bios limitations, thermal limitations etc etc. An example would be Razer Blade's 1060 failing VR spec because it's a piece of shit tdp-throttled 1060 that can barely boost pass 1400mhz in heavy sustained games and drop to 1200mhz in benches. Whereas on the other end of the spectrum you have Prema powered Clevo 1060s running 2100mhz on benches and topping 1060 mobile bench scores.

In addition, most laptop reviews are useless. When you bench on laptops its quite different on desktops where you expect performance to stay consistent. But nooo. If you run ONE bench on a laptop from a cold boot, it'll do well even if it's shit at cooling because it was booted cold. In sustained benches say after like 10 Unigine Heaven cycles and then you run the bench is how benches should be done on laptops. So you find those on NBR, laptopmedia sometimes, NBC is good for that, laptopjunkie is a decent site as well but not enough laptops.

I mean if you want to believe yourself, by all means. Go for it. It's your choice and certainly not my money.

Thanks for the input.  It's is clarifying to hear other people's thoughts.

Here's an alternate approach I could take:  My older son (definitely more intense gamer) currently has a 970 driving a 144 Hz 1080 monitor.  I  could get him a 1060 6 GB for Christmas, then slide the 970 over to my wife's rig.

Yes, the 1060 is only a marginal improvement over the 970, but I'm killing two birds with one stone.

Get a XPS, Razer has way too many QC problems with their craptops and they all have a temperature problem.
The Dell XPS 13 has none of those problems and dell support is way better than razer "support".

Guuhan got a reaction from Dackzy in A few questions about the Razer Blade. 4k v HD, where to buy?
Don't bother, it's a laptop with more issues than you can imagine. Bad thermals, quality control of razer is pretty sad, due to bad thermals it has a very limited lifespan, 4K scaling is also very inconsistent and if you have issues with the device, you might aswell get a new laptop because it will take you some months to get another craptop back which you will eventually return anyway.

Guuhan got a reaction from Shiv78 in Need someone to recommend me a laptop under 1k
7559 has great specs for its price, yet enough to game on pretty good settings. Although they had to trade off a lot of quality on their parts to make it a value gaming laptop. Y700 is more expensive, because it is build better, audio is good, screen is good and their keyboard is also better. That makes up the final price for both of em.

Which specific revision are you looking at?

And actually for $1600, you can get a fully specced gaming laptop which has a GTX 1060 and about the same weight as the Vivobook but still having 5 hours of battery life. And it doesn't even look gamery.

Um no. This is actually entirely you're fault. I have 0 pity for you. Please read the specs before buying a machine. There's a 8gb version of the RBS.
Secondly, you bought a Razer Blade Stealth. Even less pity for you. That is one of the worse ultrabooks on the market. Congrats. Literally everyone in this thread has 0 idea what they're saying cept @djdwosk97. I doubt Razer will accept the return without a restocking fee because this is entirely your fault.

Both overheat like crazy, core or any eGPU solutions are just not worth it, rather build something yourself or you could look into a bulkier laptop, because that would actually cool the laptop.
